Rapora War (Introductory RPG)

The Rapora forces were being roughly handled by their imperial adversary, the appearance of darktroopers had been something of a surprise, the superiority of Raporan equipment would soon begin to tell.

The Raporan walkers stood, their weapons flashing through the smoke, like enormous guardians, they had kept their primary weapons in reserve, now as the battle seemed to grow desperate they employed them. The lead Walker pivoted toward the formation of darktroopers, it's head aimed above them, and those in the formation hardly took notice, firing on their immediate opponents. Suddenly the Rapora warriors fell back, and the Darktroopers stopped to recharge their weapons with the advent of the respite.

From the chin of the walker a single plasma bomb flashed out of its housing and soared through and arch that took it into the center of the darktrooper formation. With an enormous flash a quarter of them lay dead, another half were wounded or concussed, while the quarter that remained in fighting shape kept up their struggle.

The AT-AT walkers kept ploding forward with a trio of AT-ST marching beside their larger brethern, a force that would have made even the toughest troops stop and reconsider their plans, but not the Rapora.

The Walker spun toward the nearest AT-AT, and fired its plasma cannons. The shots ripped through the mechanical drive as the AT-STs that escorted it returned fire, but failed to penetrate the walkers shielding. The AT-STs disappeared from view as the AT-AT exploded showering the area with debris. Then as the dust cleared the AT-STs were destroyed by the second plasma bomb that the walker had carried. It was now clear that Imperial AT-ATs were no longer the fortresses they once were as Raporan walkers took out their opponents, one walker at a time.

Darth Avarice frowned as reports from the front continued to flood in, "So the GFFA had another surprise." Frustrated she turned to the communications officer, "Order the Aklasp to engage the GFFA, we must eliminate them as quickly as possible. Contact the fleet, I want Savla runs on the GFFA and Mandalorian lines, we have nearly complete air superiority lets use it."

Zekk dropped down in one of the craters along what remained of the UDA lines, and glanced at the medley of troops arrayed within the limited cover, the majority of which were commandos. He glanced over the embankment where the Rapora forces were moving toward them and back at the troops, "Alright here's what we do."

Seryk watched as the Reporan droids and walkers that had survived the massive bombardment from the now destoryed cruiser were struck with the wave of ion blasts. Now there was an opening. A small one, but one that he could not afford to let past. He stood back up, and quickly rallied the remaining Mandalorian troops and vehicles into a hasitly formed battle line. And with a loud yell, they charged at the enemy troops. Without the walkersand droid'ekas with them, the remaining reporan ground troops had lost a major edge in the battle, and the Mandalorians made quick work of their weakened foes.

The ramining mandlorian hover tanks quickly opened fire, devestating the few remaining reporan walkers which were now without their sheilds. The walkers fell quickly, reporan warriorsscattering to avoid the explosions that they knew would follow. The heavy mandalorian battlesuits opened up with their anti-infantry cannons, laying waste to the reporan droids that still stood, quickly decimating them. Then the Repora, realising that they were doomed, turned and charged at the mandalorians, determined to take as many of them with them as possible. The mandlorians, long wanting to shed the blood of this dangerous foe, gladly met them in open combat, eager to see who was best.

Fett stared at his sensors carefully, and began to let loose a long string of the strongest curses he could think of in ever language he knew. Katarn standing next to him, winced at the ones he understood, knowing that he didnt want to know about the ones that he could not understand.

"Blasted repora are bringing down more of their capitol ships. Without air support, they are going to blast our lines into nothing." Fett said, and Kyle frowned.

"Do you have anymore vessels in orbit?" he asked, and Fett shook his head.

"No, the Wolfsbane was the only one I could openly contact, theother vessel is for our evacuation. Assuming we live that long, that is." he said, and Katarn frowned at this comment.

"You doubt that we will?" he asked, and Fett nodded.

"Unless Solo has a warfleet parked nearbye, the Repora arejust going to bombard us into oblivion. And there isnt a thingwe can do about it now." he said, and Katarn slowly nodded,suddenly realising that there was a good chance that they would never make it off this planet.

"Sir, those firewalkers are on the move, heading towards the GFFA lines." a mandalorian suddenly yelled out,and Fett nodded.

"Well, I think I may have a few weapons that the GFFA can use against them. Order a squad of troopers to take some HDC's to the GFFA lines. Those might work. If not, at least we can say we tried." Fett ordered, anda mandalorian nodded. Kyle looked over to Fett, a puzzled look on his face.

"What in the name of the force are HDCs?" he asked, and Fett looked over to him.

"Those firewalker creatures appear to be immune to fire and normal energy weapons. Normal energy weapons use heat anda small explosion to cause damage. These use an energy discharge to simply disintigrate the target at a molecular level. No heat involved." he said, and Katarn got a horrified look on his face.

"Disruptor cannons? You have disruptor cannons? Even the empire outlawed those things! And thats saying something!" Katarn yelled, but Fett simply shrugged.

"We never followed the laws of the empire, so we didnt really care. Besides, we would normally use them to bring down magnetically sealed doors. Although they might work for this." Fett said, and katarnsimply stared back at him. He knew that he shouldprotest more, but he also know that desperate times called for desperate measures. But he had to wonder if things were truelly getting so desperate that the some of the cruelest weapons ever created were warranted.

Ilos stared at his datapad, and smiled. Repairs to the Stormshore were moving along at a steady pace, and the ship would be ready to leave drydock soon. The rest of his fleet was already repaired and ready for combat. And his forces had been supplemented by the remaining vessels of the Adumarian defence fleet. All told, that left him with a trio of Star Destoryers, a bothan assualt cruiser, and half a dozen smaller vessels. A much smaller force than when he had started out, but still enough to cause havoc if he used it correctly. But hopefully Athien would continue working with him, and her vessels would complemnt his in firepower. Then he could get backto work disrupting the Reporan supply lines.

As Ilos sat there, his comm system beeped, and he tapped a button. A hologram appeared in front of him of a familiar face. Ilos smiled, and suddenly felt the wirght on his shoulderslighten slightly.

"Athien, you are back. How went your mission?" he asked, and Athien smiled.

"Well, I have some good knews, some more good news, and some bad news. But we should discuss it in person. Perhaps over dinner?" she asked, and Ilos nodded.

"Of course. I also have somegood news to report. But we shall discuss ot over dinner. Im sure you will need to be debriefed before anything else." he said, and Athien nodded.

"Yes. I will meet you afterwards. We have a lot of work to do." she said, and the hologram vanished. Ilos leaned back in his chair, the smileon his face never waivering. He wondered to himself what all of her knews would consist of. He just hopedthe bad knews wouldnt outweigh the good. They needed some luck on their side, and luck was becoming more scarce as the days went by.

OOC: Old enemies begun anew?

IC: Deep in the core of the galaxy, far from even the few spacelanes that are known to pass through the severe cluster of start, black holes, and nebulas, a small star floated through space, having found safe harbor in a small stable section of space. Around this world floated a sereies of planets, all but one of the dead worlds devoid of life. But one world held life, and it was on this world that refugees of a lost war had found peace. On the run from the fleets of the New Republic, they had stumbled across this world entirely by accident, and had decided to stay here, thinking it would be a safe place to hide.

Originally, the colonists had thought that eventually they couldlaunch a renewed assault on the Republic, but finally realised that they did not have the manpower to even make a nuisance of themselves. So thay had stayed hidded, and decided instead to build a world for their children to live on, one that would remain hidden from the turmoils of the rest of the galaxy. To defend the world, they had used a peice of technology that the ressurectoed emperor had intoruced to the galaxy, the World Devestator. Releasing the two of them that they had upon of of the dead worlds orbiting the star, the colonists had managed to build several more of the massive vessels, and then had turned them to building a massive fleet of automated starfighters,enough to simply overwhelm any fleet sent at them. But they also fabricated buildings for the colonists and their familes as they werebrough in from the rest of the galaxy. As had been a hard, but peacefull existance thus far. One thay had hoped would last forever.

On the colonized world, the leader of the colonists slept, her bed filled with rare feathers from birds of the world. Her people had allowed her this one luxury on this world, for having helped them as much as she had. But to her, it was simply a memory of more comfterable times, when teh galaxy had been a different place. There had been nights when she hated the bed, but she had accepted it the gift it was meant to be. But this night, her bed brought her little peace. She had recieved a communication earlier in the week, one that had shaken her to the core of her being. The communication had been short, and to the point.

"You served me faithfully and without doubt in the mighty Empire, andcontinued to serve me after me death. Now it is time for you to once again serve me. If you do so faithfully, andwithout question, you will be greatly rewarded. If you refuse, you will wish you and your people had died at the hands of the rebels. I await your responce." the man had said. She wished they had never received the message, she wished the core of the galaxy would have swallowed it up,never to have made it to her world. Her people had known peace for over a dozen years now. She had no idea how she could just throw them back into the war, especially after thay had managed to avoid the war against the vong.

Slowly, the elderly woman rose from her bed, and made her way overto her closet. She opened it, and stared at teh Imperial uniform that hung there, as if waiting for her to once again take up arms for her Emperor. At one point she may have, without question. But now, she had a family. She had married, and had children to worry about. Children that she did not want to witness the horrors that war eventually brought. But she did not know how to avoid the call of her former master. Not without risking the livesof all the people that had come to trust her.

The woman walked back to her bed, and sat down. Beside her, her husband slept peacefully, not knowing that the fate of their world now hung in the balance. Slowly, she laid back down, and tried to sleep. But every time she closed her eyes, she saw the face of the emperor, staring at her relentlessly. When sleepfinallycameto her, her dreamswere filled with the horrors she had seen in the civil war, and what would happen if a war was brought to her world. In her sleep, the old woman cried.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

OOC: Intersting... Could that be Daala?

Ic:

The Walkers advance was not halted by the heavier plasma weapons of the Rapora. The Imperial's most impressive ground unit had never been halted in battle, and today was not a good day to begin.

The Rapora may have been suprised by the perseverance of the AT-ATs which continued to exchange fire to the Raporan Troops and their walkers, despite the loss ratio for the Imperial Forces, they were not trying to patch their formation and continued to push into the forest. The ultimate purpose was to drive them back to the forest and ambush them with the reserve units that quietly waited in the forest. The Rapora tried to open themselves a path, cutting through the Imperial's formation into the relative safety of open ground.

Charred bodies, missing limps and overheated piles of scrap metal covered now the battlefield, providing a dangerous terrain for the ground troops that moved to close the pathways for the Rapora. Kyp's remaining Darktroopers had successfully dealt with the Droideka'kar Destroyers, partly thanks to the doublebladed Plasma Bomb of the Rapora.

The Imperial's Grenadiers and long-range troopers were clearing potential enemies for the Darktroopers, while the latter were spending their last long range mini-rockets in damaging the tall Rapora Walkers. Kyp concentrated in directing his troopers to select key targets, aiming to the lead walkers or to those that had not yet used their plasma bombs.

Some of the heavier Raporan troops had long since discovered the prime vulnerability of the AT-AT design: Using highly powered cannons they were shooting at the legs of the AT-AT, places where their armor was not as strong and were critical hits to the gargantuan weapons.

On his left he saw the high energy shot destroy one of the AT-ATs front leg, shattered pieces of debris fell on Kyp who blocked them off with the Force. After a handful he wondered about the loud thud that should have followed. To his suprise the AT-AT was only immobilized. It stood perfectly still, and exchanged turbolaser fire with the Raporan troops.

In a fraction of a second the AT-ATs remaining legs unattached themselves from the body of the metallic monster. For an instant the AT-AT seemed to fall but was halted. Held by an invisible hand but it was not Kyp's, an artificial force was making the AT-AT hover. In the rear, the engines for the vessel became visible and powered the vehicle towards the Rapora's lines.

***

After almost four decades, the Empire had finally found a way to improve the AT-ATs design, sacrificing some of the psychological effect, and most of the troops space, the Hover AT-AT worked efficiently to clear up rapidly the enemy's front lines with a nice touch of surprise.

And some confusion. Of the dozens of AT-ATs in the field less than a quarter of them were actually of the newer hovering variant. The rest were of the conventional type, filled with troops.

The AT-STs , the handful of Chariots and the pair of Floating Fortresses were progressing with their specific mission objectives. Except for the absence of Juggernaut, Oreton considered that most other Imperial Ground Unit was represented in the battlefield.

The holoprojector sparked, faded and return again with it's blueish hue. Some enemy fire had hite his mobile command base, but he focused on the holographic stage where his units were fighting. The Rapora had not yet given up in piercing through the Imperials Forces, their walkers and their plasma bombs had taken out their share of AT-ATs and had killed a quarter of his Darktroopers, those that had been injured had already been picked up by his fastest vehicles and moved away from vulnerable positions.

The Rapora Forces tried to move tangentially to the Imperial's front lines, moving away from the forest, which they knew could easily become a trap. The Imperials Forces were not coming closer to the Rapora that reacted to their advance by flexibly maneuvering their lines. The losses caused by rocket launchers and the long-ranged AT-AT weapons had not been enough to thin out the Rapora's heavy ground units.

"Transmit, Code Aurek-Seven." Oreton ordered.

***

In the head segment of the specially modified AT-ATs Code Aurek-Seven was received with mixed sentiments. But the order was obeyed.

From less than a quarter of the entire AT-ATs a retractable missile launcher appeared. Whilst the Rapora had their plasma bombs as a secondary weapon for their walkers, some of their Imperial counterparts had been refitted with Proto Torpedo Launchers.

Missiles streaked from the Imperial side over to the Rapora, and walkers fell, crushing troops or lighter vehicles. Segments of the Rapora formations fell in disarray. Robbed from their cover, the Rapora ground soldiers madly drove into the Imperial Formation in an attempt to buy time for the lines to regroup. Overpowering stormtroopers and dying to smaller vehicles, the Rapora warriors employed their strength in a frenzied sacrifice. It was an opportunity Kyp took to wreak havoc in the disarrayed Rapora lines.

Darth Avarice fumed as the reports continued to stream in, it wasn't going as she'd hoped, and if it wasn't going as she'd hoped it was going much worse then the Timeless One would have liked. Avarice was becoming painfully aware of this problem, "Yes my lord, our forces continue to advance but the battle has become an engagement of attrition, we've lost many warriors already."

The Timeless One frowned, his cloak blowing in some unseen wind, "The enemy has surprised you."

"Yes my lord," Avarice said meekly.

"You have four more hours, any longer and Commander Clawdar will have an appointment with you."

Avarice felt her guts freeze for an instant, Clawdar was the commander of the Timeless One's personal guards. He was also an executioner, "I will have victory within that time my lord."

"Be sure you will," The Timeless One answered as his image faded away into darkness.

Avarice spun ,"Order the veteran regiments forward, also inform the Vagaari that they'll be next if their assaults fail."

The Aklasp commander turned to them, "It seems like overkill."

Avarice felt a slight smile pass her lips, "They've given us a bloody nose, I intend to ensure our victory is complete and that we've shown the true strength of our resolve. Even if we have to march over a rampart of our own dead."

A black clad warrior flanked by two men sheathed in what looked like a pair of fully enclosed metal suits stepped into the command post, "Darth Avarice, Mage Valen awaiting orders."

Avarice smiled much more brightly, "Excellent, it is time the Sith return to their former glory, you may advance your regiment."

"As I live and die commander."

* * *

Zekk glanced over to Melina Thompson's position, "Alright, ready your weapons!" The troops around him hastily made sure their equipment was ready. He drew his lightsaber and ignited it, "Lets go!"

All along the UDA lines soldiers stood and opened fire, the force under Zekk's command rushed out of cover in a sweeping move to engage the enemy. The Rapora were ready for them.

Light disks careened into the formation of soldiers. The commandos in the force were especially hard hit when a Raporan strafing run blasted into their lines. Then they were among the enemy, blasters and lightsabers flashing. Lowbacca watched as Zekk was surrounded by six Rapora warriors.

The Rapora lit their sabers and attacked as one force. It would only be a matter of time till he was cut down. Then suddenly they backed away forming a circle and Darth Fury stepped into view as he drew his lightsaber, "Are you a match for a sith Jedi?"

* * *

Boba Fett watched as the Raporan troops directly to his front broke and ran, their formations breaking apart. He stopped and watched in shock, "What warriors are these, I thought the Rapora were a race of warriors." A cheer went up through the ranks, but moments later halted as the Rapora stopped and reformed, and two more regiments of troops left the treeline. A chill went down Fett's back as he saw that these warriors were decorated with unit markings not unlike those he'd seen on aged warriors, the reality of what they'd just faced began to settle in, "Rally! Rally, we just licked their first wave." His chest tightened, the battle had been too easy until now, now it was aged veteran against aged veteran, warrior against warrior.

"Let us how them out metal."

* * *

The Imperial lines had detierated into a stalemate, until now. Two new regiments were arriving. One Raporan, and one sith. Their black figures barely in the destruction. Acolytes and Mages, Warriors and Soldiers, over five hundred warriors, each an equal to a Jedi, and each as devoted to victory as the Rapora. They waited as the Rapora reformed and prepared to return to the advance.

Seryk watched, a look of astonishment hidden by his helmet, as the reporan warriors broke and ran. He joined in with the cheers that rose up amognst the ranks of mandalorians. Suddenly, it looked as if they just might win this fight. Then he saw them. From the line of trees marched more troops. But through the force, and with his own eyes, he could tell these were seasoned warriors. The battle was not yet over. Not even close. As the cheers died down, he looked around, and noted the many mandalorian bodies that lay scattered. Thankfully, it seemed to him that even more Repora had died in the fight, but the mandalorians were dwindeling in numbers. This was not looking good to him at all.

"Seryk, these are fierce warriors you face. Are you sure you are ready for this?" a voice suddenly said, and Seryk looked about, searching for the source of the voice. But no one was looking at him, nor did anyone else seem to hear the voice.

"Of course he is ready. If he was not, do you think he would be foolish enough to face them?" rang out another voice, this one he recognized as his grandmother. As Seryk wondered what was going on, his surroundings began to waver, then change to the bleak landscape of Tatooine. He turned quickly, and saw standing behind him the blue image of his grandmother, but also the image of an older man. His dark brown hair was tied back into a braid, and his light blue eyes held in them a fierce determination. After a moment, it dawned on Seryk who he was seeing.

"So, you recognize me? Thats good. I figured you would ask me who I was, and all that nonsence. Good to see you have some brains in your head." his grandfather said, and his grandmother turned to him, a frown on her face.

"He found our home, didnt he? That alone proves his intelligence, and the fact that he is on that world proves his bravery. I told you he was a spitting image of you." she said, and his grandfather laughed.

"Please tell me this is important, if not, I have a battle to fight." Seryk snapped, and his grandparents turned back to him.

"Control your anger Seryk, such things lead to the dark side." his grandmother said, and his grandfather nodded in agreement.

"Listen to her Seryk. I have seen what the dark side can do to people. It is not a pleasent site. As for what we are doing, we are just making sure you know what you are getting into. After what happened to your father, we were surprised that you would simply run off an join a war like this one." his grandfather said, and Seryk nodded.

"I am doing what is right. What's wrong with that?" he asked, and his grandfather shrugged.

"Nothing is wrong with it. But are you doing it just because it is the right thing to do? Or are you doing it for other reasons?" his grandfather asked, and Seryk shook his head.

"No other reason. What other reason would there be?" he asked, and his grandmother smiled.

"There are many reasons to go and fight a war. A quest for glory, a want of power, a search for vengeance, all of these have been reasons for war. none of them good reasons. And all of them lead to the dark side." his grandmother quipped, and Seryk thought about it for a moment, but then shook his head.

"While you have a point, none of those reasons would suit me. I fight because it is the right thing to do." he said, and his grandmother nodded.

"I will not disagree with you on that, but this battle, on this world. Is this the right time to fight? Are you sure you can win? Or are you just throwing yourself into it because everyon else thinks its right? You felt those warriors through the force. They have years of experiance, both in combat and the force. Are you sure that now is your time to fight?" his grandmother asked, and Seryk stopped to think.

While he had trained for many year in hand to hand combat, he skill in the force was lacking severely. And compared to many of the mandalorians that were on the planet, he had never finished his training. All in all, he was heavily outmatched by just about everyone around him.

"Wether I am ready or not for this battle, I can't just leave. We need all the warriors we can get for this fight." he said, and his grandfather smiled.

"Even in the face of death, he stands his ground, and he uses wisdom as his reason. Flawed reason, but reason nonetheless." his grandfather said, and his grandmother nodded.

"Seryk, you will live through this fight. I have seen that much. But know this, the fights ahead of you will be much worse. Not just for the galaxy as a whole, but for you in particular. Hold true to who you are, and never forget where you came from." his grandmother said, and Seryk got a puzzled look on his face. He was about to ask what she meant, when her whispy form vanished.

"Seryk, a little advice for you. Sometimes you most valuable weapon, is not the one in your hand, but the ones in your enemies." his grandfather said, and then his form also disapeared. Suddenly, Seryk was back on the battle feild, and it seemed like only a moment had passed. He looked around again, and saw that the mandalorians were re-forming thier lines to confront the next wave of warriors. Seryk joined them, and pondered for a moment about what his grandfather had said before he vanished. But he tossed the thought aside, knowing he had more important things to worry about. The repora were advancing.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

OOC: You Mandalorians are about to taste the ruthless efficiency of a Raporan Legion.

IC:

They marched forward, the slow methodical marched of drilled and trained warriors, their armored forms lined side by side in a formation as ancient as the race which made them, a battle line. Before the Raporan main body a scraggly line of troops sprinted forward, these rapora wore little armor, equipped instead with a number of plasma carbines, and six lightdisks. These were the skirmishers, warriors trained to soften up the foes for the main body. Just before the main body there was a single line of warriors arrayed side by side, these were the apex of the formation, the primary guardian of the soldiers behind them. Each one carried a deflector shield which was emitted from a meter long conventional shield. Only the most powerful of blasters could penetrate such a shield, DL-44s, A280s, and the like. Still they reduced the effecitveness of their fire, and would enable the Rapora to get within their preferred fighting distance with little to no casualties.

Directly across from the Raporan line was the Mandalorian force, upon seeing the Rapora arrive they'd reformed into a battle line of their own, the first rank lay on the ground facing the enemy, the second crouched, and the third stood. Each group had a clear field of fire. But even with the reforming the Mandalorians had gaps in their lines. Gaps the commanders had tried to plug with walkers and tanks, but gaps that remained.

The Raporan Commander Krask Dralcar rode along the line of his troops on a massive Vrak hound, a genetically modified version of a vornskr the creature stood over a meter and half tall and three meters long. Clasped in the pocket of the saddle for the creature was the staff of cycles, the symbol of Raporan might and belief. The regiments under his command knew that to loose the staff would be the greatest of dishoners, resulting in the certain death of many of the officers. Krask halted his Vrak hound and smiled looking over at the Mandalorian lines, he turned to his fellow Rapora, "Comrades...Friends, today we go into battle against worthy opponents, Mandalore's children, warriors of strength and courage. Each of you is worth a regiment of them, each of you is stronger then them, and each of you the greater warrior. So, let the song of blood flow through your hearts, feel the heat of energy in your souls, and remember if you die today you shall be reborn greater then before!"

The shrieking and bloodcurdling cheer that echoed from the Raporan ranks was such that even Boba Fett felt his spine shiver at the sound, "I've fought many warriors, but these are the first ones that shall truly be a test of Mandalorian metal."

Krask tapped his head band comlink and snarled, "You may fire at will!" Seconds later the roar of Salyar Artillery shells rattled across the field of battle smashing into the Mandalorian lines, wiping out whole platoons of troops with ease. The Rapora started forward, a slow steady movement dictated by the beat of a common conscious. They began to close the distance... 300 hundred meters... 200 meters and they began to recieve sporatic fire... 100 meters and the Raporan main body halted. The Skirmishers dashed forward closing within 50 meters before stopping. There they hurled their lightdisks.

The spinning disks soared across the space slicing through those troops which were crouched or standing. Cutting them down like a scythe through wheat. The Mandalorians had kept up their fire cutting down two thirds of the skirmishers before they had fallen back behind the main body.

The Raporan shield bearers disengaged their shields and the Main body rushed forward and opened fire as the battle became a wild melee.

Seryk watched as the newest wave of Reporan warriors charged at them. He could tell this was not going to be good. Their lines were already spread thin as it was. By the looks of things, they would be lucky to make it out of this alive. But before he could continue his thought, the warriors were upon them. Seryk waited for another second, then activated his lightsaber, much to the surprise of the warrior he had targeted. That surprise allowed him to strike first, a luky blow that severed the beasts arm. As the warrior screamed in pain, Seryk shoved the blade into its nmouth, silencing it. But before he could move on to the next target, he was bowled over by the falling body of a mandalorian. As he stood back up, another warrior decided to take advantage of his mometary lack of defence, and attacked him, launching a brutal assault of lightsaber attacks. Seryk defended as best he could, but found that his skills were no match for this warriors.

Seryk quickly began to fall back, as did the rest of the line. They were being overwhelmed, both by the sheer numbers of warriors they now faced, and by their skill. As they slowly fell back, many mandalorians died, but Seryk was happy to still hear the screams of dying repora. Suddenly, Seryk felt a sharp pain in his side, and he screamed in agony. He fell to the ground, and looked up to see a warrior standing over him, its double bladed lightsaber pointed at his head.

"You, warrior, are differnt from the rest of your brethern. You have the force as your ally. It is to bad that today, it failed you." the warrior said, and Seryk watched as it raised it weapon to deliver the final blow. But before the warrior could strike, Seryk made a subconcious decision. Survival by any means necessary. In a heartbeat, he reached down inside of himself, and grabbed at all the anger he had hidden from the world. Anger at the vong for killing his father. Anger at himself for not dying with him. Anger at the Repora for starting yet another war. And once he had it firmly in the grip of his mind, he unleashed it.

The warrior never saw the strike coming. Seryk lashed out at him with the force, knocking the beast off of its feet. Before it could even begin to recover, Seryk was on him, driving his lightsaber into the warriors gullet. The warrior screamed, an agonizing sound that reverborated throughout Serykls body. It jerked Seryk back to his sences, just enough to hear Fett through the commlink.

"All troops, retreat. Fall back to the main group. All reserve units to the front lines. Alpha group, you may strike at will." was all he heard, all he needed to hear. He activated his rocket pack, and blasted off from the feild, along with the rest of the surviving mandalorians. They moved quickly, faster than the repora could follow them. Once they reached the main lines, they landed, and were quickly joined by the few troops that Fett had left in reserve. Seryk could tell that this was going to be their final stand in this battle. But then the thought occured to him of what everything Fett had said. he had no idea who alpha group was, or where they were.

**********************************************

OOC: Everyone, meet Alpha group, Mandalores commandos.

IC: Jarhiss smiled as he heard the order. He had been waiting for several hours in the forests behind the enemy lines, wanting to do nothing more than strike at them. But he knew he had to wait. But finally the waiting was over. He and his companions had been tracking a Skirmish group for some time now, just waiting for the chance to strike.

He lept from tree to tree silently, the sound dampner on his arm reducing any noise he made to something less that a whispher of the wind. The ysalamiri on his back prevented him from being seen through the force. And his advanced armor was light, so light that it felt like a second set of clothes. But heavy armor wasnt needed for him. His prey would die before thay had a chance top attack him.

Once all of the Alpha members were in position, they fell from teh trees ino the enemy formation. The vagaari group Consisted entirely of infantry, and was designed to detect flanking manuvers by enemy forces, not stop elite commando units. Before the Vaagari even knew what was goin on, the commandoes had begun massacring them. Vibroblades slahed through armor like it was paper, and silenced slug throwers peirced the armor of the enemy troops that had been granted such things. Even the two Repora leading the group were caught off gaurd, and fell quickly.

Jorhiss looked around, happy to see that none of his men had perished. Not that he had expected any to. A quick count brought the total of enemy dead to almost eighty. A very poor ratio, even for the Vagaari troops. He smiled, and then motioned with his had. Silently, the nine commandoes lept back into the trees, intent on finding more targets. He knew his actions would not win this battle. But, it would be a silent vengeance for those that had already fallen.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Han Solo watched the holographic rendition of the battle and felt his heart grow heavy, "We're loosing..." He glanced up at the communications officers then over to Leia, "All units are to fall back to the evacuation zone. We'll try and save as many as we can."

Only the grim silence answered him as he bent back down to watch the fight continue.

Kyp Durron whirled his lightsaber as a barrage of golden plasma bolts from the last Droideka'kar in the area glanced away. The green blast of a dark trooper's cannon sliced apart the piece of equipment. Then Kyp felt them, a growing presence and turned to look upon a line of infantry wearing crimson and silver armor crossing the smoldering battlefield. All at once the ignited their own lightsabers, a venertable wall of red blades, sith warriors.

Kyp knew his force was all but spent, down to its last reserves, he had but one choice left, "Fall back, suppressing fire!"

The sith stood fast against the barrage of fire, and some of them returned fire with plasma carbines of Raporan vintage, but most merely reflected the blasts from their blades and kept moving forward as the howl of wolvkils echoed across the field. A horde of Vagaari troops poured forth, lead by hundreds of their war hounds, and right behind them, another line of Raporan infantry began to move forth.

* * *

Boba watched as the GFFA forces began to pull back along his flanks, if he didn't fall back as well they would become exposed. With the Rapora strafing his lines and mining the sky above his men were falling fast, along with heaps of raporan droids and young warriors. The Raporan legion was already proving to be much more then he believed his forces could handle, drained as they were.

But his forces were too heavily engaged, they would have to divert their attention. He would have to through Alpha group straight into the Raporan meatgrinder, and he didn't think any of them would survive.

* * *

Melina Thompson fell back across the field blasting away at the Rapora, keeping a hot masking fire to ensure their ability to move. Still it was tough going, leaping from crater to crater and dodging plasma bolts, but they were making it.

Then Melina climbed up over the last crater and found herself face to face with another line of Rapora warriors. Her hands were to far to grab her blaster, and they were ready, they were waiting. Slowly as an icy fist of fear smothered through her heart she raised her hands. Her soldiers followed suite, all but two. The two Jedi.

Slowly Lowbacca stood and motioned to the Raporan squad leader, a clear challenge. The Rapora accepted, slowly the warriors closed ranks around the two to watch the duel that was about to begin.

Commodore Athien stepped out of her shuttle and onto the deck of the Guardian Shield Class Star Destroyer Thrawn's Hope. There at the bottom of the ramp stood her father with a slight proud smile balancing on his lips. But his red eyes told another tale, and she knew then that the UDA fleet was about to go into its greatest test. Breaking the blockade over Ord Mantell.

Tuvax slahed at a Stormtrooper, the soldier fell to the ground the top part of his body nearly seperated from the second.

In a circular movement Tuvax decapitated another soldier and sent a third flying with a circular kick.

The imperial forces started to regroup to try and counter the Raporan legions arriving on the battlefield all while tring to retreat. Tuvax augmented the pressure in the Imperial troops by sending the Vaagari to harass there side lines. This left Tuvax to face the Jedis.

The Dark Lord started hacking his way towards the whirling lightsaber that showed the position of the jedi leading the Imperial troops.

The jedi was surrounded by three droidekas but was supported by several stormtroopers and Darktroopers. Tuvax leapt in front of the Droidekas and faced the Jedi.

"Get ready to die Jedi."

He did not let the Knight answer before attacking.

*****

Garik's shuttle entered the Hangar of the GFFA's main fleet. He hated the idea of having to wait but it was all he could do.

Suddenly the comlink biped.

"Ioor"

"A crypted holo communicatio for you Sir"

"Send it on."

The Figure of Thrawn appeared on the Holoprojector...

Fett continued to watch the battle for a few more seconds, then realised that Alha group would have to be recalled. It was the only way his surviving troops were going to have a chance at survival. But he also knew that Alpha group didn'y have the armor or weapons to make much of a diference here. Unless they picked someup along the way, that is.

"Alpha group, recall to main battle force. Pick up weapons on the way." he said, and he heard several clicks. He waited for a few monetas longer, then looked over to where his laison Jedi was standing.

"Katarn, get out of here. Go make sure Solo evacuates." Fett said, and Kyle looked over at him, a confused look on his face.

"What about you? how are you going to get your troops out of here?" he asked, and Fett laughed.

"Trust me. We have our ways. And besides, I think that Solo will need your help more than I will." he said, and Kyle looked at him for a moment, and then nodded. Kyle ran to one of the few undamaged speeders, and rocketed off towards the main base. After he left, Fett sighed in relief. he hated being watched over.

Fett turned back to the battlefield, and saw a group of warriors flying in from behind the battlefield. They dipped low towards the ground, and grabbed whatever weapons they could find off of dead bodies, before returing to flight. Then, they flew into the melee, and began the process of dealing death as only they knew how.

***************************************

Seryk deflected teh blow from the reporan warriors blade, and snap kicked the creature in the jaw, hard enough that Seryk could hear bones break. Seryk lunged, and the bast fell, impaled by Seryks blade. Seryk turned to face yet another of the warriors, btu stopped when he saw the new arrivals. Clad in what looked like weaker versions of standard battle armor, all of them appeared to be weilding either reporan sidearms, or the reporan lightsabers. he wondered where thay had come from, but decided that now was not the time to ask. He ran to grup up with them in the fight, and as he arived, he saw that several other warriors had thought the same thing.

When he arrived at tehir side, he joined them in fighting off the legionaires that they had targeted. As they fought, Seryk watched on in wonder as these new warriors fought, astounded by their speed and skill. But soon, even they began to fall to the experience and strength of the reporan troops. But they were taking a number of the repora with them as they died. And apparently, thats what Fett had wanted.

"All troops, retreat. Fall back, I repeat, fall back. Prepare for evacuation." was all fett sid, and Seryk felt his heart sink. They had lost. Even the might of the mandalorians had failed to turn the tide of this battle. Almsot as one, the remaining mandalorain troops and comandoes took the the skies, where reporan warriors had a feild day shooting them back down. But as soon as they had all cleared the ground, the remaining heavy guns of the mandalorian lines opened fire, sowing chaos into the Reporan troops.

Once the troops were clear from danger, the remianing guns were abandoned on the feild, their self destruct devices activated. As the mandalorains retreated, teh Repora followed them, and walked right into one last gift from Fett.

The repora crossed over a small hill, and came face to face with dozens of small, automated blaster turrets. The turrets opened fire, dropping several repora with the opening salvo. The repora charged the turrets, and began deatroying them with their lightsabers. But as each one was cut into by a lightsaber or a plasma burst, it detonated, sending any nearbye repora flying. Then, the repora were past the turret line, intent on chasing the mandalorians all the way back t their evacuation point.

Mit'thrawn'uruodo smiled slightly at the image of the general before him, "General Ioor, Han Solo's forces on Ord Mantell are about to be overrun, I'll need you to launch a diversionary attack on Adumar to draw some Raporan forces away from Mantell and give my fleet a chance to punch through the defenses they're throwing up."

"Yes Admiral," General Ioor answered with a nod.

Slowly Thrawn turned to the second hologram in the room, "Admiral Oreton, I suggest you place your forces on standby, if we become heavily engaged I'll need your ships to bail us out."

Finally Thrawn turned to the last Hologram, "Admiral Hirotek, Commodore Athien tells me you've had some sucess in your attempts to swing the Vagaari from their current loyalties. The battle at Ord Mantell should draw the enemies attention from their own borders, I suggest that you move into the unknown regions and find a suitable base of operations near Vagaari space. Commodore Athien will follow you into that territory after the conclusion of the battle with a force of UDA vessels. I trust you understand the goals of your mission."

"Yes Admiral, it'll be good to bring the war to the enemy." Admiral Hirotek answered and Thrawn smiled.

"Due to the possiblity of this operation going awry Commander Veran has a copy of my will. In the battle itself Commodore Athien will be my second in command," Slowly he turned and nodded to his daughter, "If you loose communications with my ship at any time you may take command."

"Yes father," Athien answered quietly, hoping it would not become necessary.

* * *

Kyp stepped back as the Rapora warrior stalked toward him. If Rapora and sith were bad, this thing was ten times worse, it was both. The Rapora hissed as it ignited its two blades and charged. Kyp backflipped away from the attack and landed behind the Darktroopers, "Ulan!"

Suddenly the Yuuzhan Vong was there, dropping from a speeder bike and igniting his lightsaber, "Kyp, who is that Rapora?"

"I have no idea," Kyp answered as he turned away from the battle and pulled out his commlink, "This is Imperial Alpha, we are heavily engaged, request air support for an opportunity to disengage and fall back to the base."

* * *

Corran heard the call as he spun away from two Raporan Tornclaws, "Kyp, this better be good." He glanced down at his monitor and new that there weren't nearly enough fighters still up to do the job conventionally, "I guess I'm going to have to be a little inventive."

Horn broke hard on the stick and homed in on Kyp's presence in the force, using it as an aiming point. With a tight smile he sent a message to kyp, where do you want this strike?

A series of images flashed back and Corran smiled, that he could do.

* * *

Han Solo nearly jumped as Kyle Katarn careened into the map room with a Raporan Plasma Carbine grasped in his hands, "Kyle! Why aren't you with Fett?"

"He said he could handle it himself. He thought you might need saving."

Han sighed, "We all need saving it seems. We're reading the transports now, but in order to get off planet we need to clear a hole in their blockade. Thrawn's on the way probably but he won't get here for another hour, at the least."

"He'll have a diversionary attack before he gets here, he always does," Kyle answered solemnly.

"Lets hope the Rapora don't remember that."

* * *

Kyp smiled as the Raporan Sith stepped in front of the line of Droideka'kars. As the whine of an engine filled the air Ulan flipped his lightsaber up into a salute as Corran's X-wing thundered overhead at ten meters. As the X-wing rocketed away Tuvax smiled until he heard the soft thump of the two shadow bombs hitting the ground just before and beside him and his troops.

* * *

Lowbacca waited as the Rapora squad leader stepped forward and twirled his lightsaber, then he struck. With speed and force that would have stunned most opponents Lowbacca swung toward the Rapora's blade. Their sabers smashed together, but instead of purely resisting the blow the Rapora slowly twisted his wrists spun delivering a counter strike the sliced across the Wookie's chest, a painful wound.

Lowbacca barely flinched from the smell of his own burning flesh as he roared a wookie battlecry and charged his opponent, his climbing claws sliding out of one of his paws.

The Rapora easily blocked his blows before withdrawing a lightdisk from his pouch and activating it. He used it as a small shield, parrying each strike that came near it with a cock of his wrist. Then he spun on his heel and kicked the wookie. His killing claw reamed the wookie's arm, ripping away flesh to the bone.

Stunned, Lowbacca felt his arm go lax and watched his lightsaber fall from his hand. Then without a moment of hesitation the Rapora spun once more and burned through his neck dropping the headless torso to the ground before him.

Ilos ran along the halls of his flagship, looking like just about any other member of his crew at the moment. the whole ship seemed like an active hive, crew members were working hard to finish up the last of the repairs so that they could finally leave Dresnak. They had been here for far to long already. The UDA mechanics and engineers had left his ship hours ago, and he was happy to see them gone. His crew seemed to movce more smothly without them getting in the way all the time.

Finally arriving at the bridge, he was immediatly bombarded with reports from all over the ship. Gun stations reporting in, fighters landing in the hanger bay, other vessels reporting their readiness. Ilos smiled, taking it all in. It was time for his forces to get back into action. And he knew that everyone in his fleet was itching for battle. And he was no better. Their enemies had much to answer for. Perhaps now, they could begin collecting the massive debt that the Repora were wracking up.

"Give me a comm link to the fleet. I want everyone to here me." he ordered, and he waited for the nod from his comm officer. Once he got the nod, he waited for a moment, then spoke.

"Attention everyone. We are about to do something that no one has yet to do in this war. We are going to be taking the war to the enemy. We will set up our forces on the outskirts on Vagaari space, and run a guerilla campaign against their forces. " he said, and he waited a few moments for everyone to digest the information. After a few moments, he spoke again.

"The purpose of this mission, is to attempt to drive a wedge in between the Vagaari and their Reporan masters. We have had limited sucess in this already, and hope to capitalize on this, and in the process not only gain new allies for the war, but also take away the literal shield of vessels that the Repora have been using thus far in the war. Without that sheild, we will force the repora to fight us face to face." he said, and he looked around the bridge. He could tell by the looks on the faces of some of his crewers that they were torn on the plan. He knew some of them would agree with it, while others would think it a fools errand. But they knew to follow orders.

"We will be on our own for a time out there, without hope of reinforcements or resupply. Because of this, we will have to be on constant alert. It will take all of us putting forth better than our full efforts. I am asking all of you to give your crewmates, your ships, this fleet, and myself, everything you have. I am asking you to be willing to saxrafice everything." he said, and he waited. He knew that his crew would not take that well. It was against their normal tactics. Normally they put survival ahead of victory. but this time, Ilos was asking for victory at all costs.

"Grand Admiral Thrawn himself has full faith in this fleet, and its crews. It is on his orders that we are doing this. And if he has faith in us, then I see no reason that we can't do it." he said, and he saw that some of his crewers nodded at each other. He knew that they had faith in Thrawn. And if he had faith in them, they they were ready for anything.

"All vessels, prepare to make the jump to lightspeed as soon as we clear the dockyards. Our first jump will take us o just outside Vagaari space. The second jump will take us into vagaari space itself. From there, we will go where we feel we can hurt them the most. Until we arrive though, relax when you can find the time. " he said, and he cut the comm. he looked around the bridge, and smiled. It was time to move out.

"Order all ships to move forward at full flank speed. Pull in all fighters, ad prepare to make the jump. As soon as we are clear, send the signal. " he said, and he heard a series of quick confirmations. He watched out his viewport as the fleet began to move. After a few minutes, they were given clearence to make the jump to hyperspace. A few seconds later, the fleet jumped, on its way to what was looking to be a long, dangerous job. One that Ilos would relsih with every fiber in his body.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Garik gazed out of the bridge of the Guardian at the fleet that was preparing to leave for their suprise strike on Adumar. To hope to attract some off the fleet of Ord Mantell they would have to strike quick and hard. Not letting the Vagaari time to respond.

The Guardian, the Harbring, a dozen of Ravager class Star Destroyers were nearly ready to leave. The last fighters were entering the Hangars and the last support crafts arriving.

Garik switched on the comlink to speak to the fleet.

"All ships report in."

One after the other the ships announced they were ready to leave.

"Everybody to their battlestations."

The fleet was ready to leave.

The navigator transfered the coordinates to the different ships.

The Guardian then started to move, slowly followed by the rest off the fleet. A minute later they jumped to Hyperspace.

The Fleet exited Hyperspace on the side of Adumar which was opposite to the location of the Vagaari fleet.

The ships did not stop andused the gravity of the planet to accelerate and charge the enemy fleet. A ferw seconds later the Vagaari fleet appeared on the detectors. Most of the ships were on stand-by and clearly not ready for battle. Garik was not going to give them a chance.

The Guardian charged into the enemy followed by other ships all guns blazing. Vagaari ships who had not had time to activate their shields exploded under the pounding of the GFFA ships.

Fighters started to pour out of the hangars of the different. The interceptors covering the bombers to their targets before going to fend of the incoming Vagaari.

"Inform commander Thrawn that the diversion has begun." ordered Garik as he watched the holoprojection of the battle. The Vagaari fleet was starting to reform but was having great difficulty in fending of the swarms of fighters and smaller support crafts.

"Sir!" said one of the communication officers "We have just intercepted a Vagaari communication "They are demanding imediate assisstance from the Rapora ships."

Garik turned towards the battlescene. Their mission was a succes but this message also meant that they would soon have to face the Rapora fleet.

"Tell the fighters to keep some rockets. We want to be ready when the raporan reinforcements arrive."

****

Tuvax roared as he watched the two Shadow bombs hit the groud and explode.Stormtroopers and rapora warriors were sent flying by the shock wave.

One the explosion had passed Tuvax got back up. The force shield he had created had protected him from the fiery blaze but had not stopped him from flying several feet away.

He called his Lightsaber to his hand using the force.

The Jedis would pay.

The Timeless One smiled as he studied the report before him, "So the GFFA is about to attempt to break our blockade, nice of them to inform us of it by assualting Adumar." He leaned forward and glanced to the Rapora warrior off to his right, "Inform task force four they will prepare for immediate departure for Adumar. Alert the Aklasp to fake a jump to Adumar and take up position at Ord Mantell Extreme approxamently twenty degree above the ecliptic."

As Clawdar slunk off to issue the orders the Timeless One grinned, "Come on in Thrawn, the gate is open."

OOC: um...Mad, Tuvax has got a Shadow Bomb sitting next to him... shouldn't you do something about it?

  • 3 weeks later...

Grand Admiral Thrawn watched as the Raporan fleets entered hyperspace, a thin smile playing across his lips, "Excellent, that weakens the enemy a little." He turned and watched a number of the Aklasp ships disappear into hyperspace, "Signal the ground forces, tell them we'll arrive in two minutes."

* * *

Kyp and Ulan ran. They ran from the stream of Raporan warriors and broken imperials. The retreat had already become a route, a route to the next defensible position. Behind them walkers and men who couldn't flee quickly enough were struck down as sith and raporan troopers raced after them. Behind them the Vagaari troops were strung out picking through the last pockets of normal resistance. Still they ran.

* * *

Darth Tuvax snarled as he charged after the retreating imperials. The jedi were far ahead of him and Tuvax knew he wouldn't be able to reach them until they'd joined with the defenders of the base itself. Still he followed, urging his forces forward, and hoping for a victory over them.

* * *

High above Adumar the battle for the planet waged, and a squadron of raporan reinforcements from a nearby squadron arrived. The six Savla class light cruisers were lead by the warship Cyclical Death captained by Rimak Ardar. Now the Commodore in the Raporan navy was faced with his first combat engagement, actively fighting against an entire GFFA fleet. Hundreds of Vagaari vessels were already engaged and had slowed the GFFA forces to a crawl, it was now Ardar's chance to beat them into submission.

Ilos sat and watched the sensor reports stroll in slowly. They had been waiting for nearly four hours now, his entire force at high alert. He had sent Sabre squadron out on recon runs to several nearbye systems, in hopes of finding vagaari vessels for his fleet to attack. So far, all but one of the groups had come back, with nothing to report. But one pair of fighters was still out there. And they were overdue. Ilos was beginning to worry now, he couldnt afford to lose any more of Sabre squadron, especially since the pilots were on loan to him. Around him, the bridge was as silent as he was. Everyone knew the importance of this mission, and knew that failure of any sort was not an option.

Suddenly, two small blips appeared on the long range sensors, and Ilos smiled. He wasnt happy that they were late, but he was happy that they had come back alive. He stood up from his command chair, and walked over to the communications array. But as he did so, his sensor officer suddenly looked over at him and spoke.

"Admiral, we have a dozen enemy contacts entering the system. Sensors indicate they are all of Vagaari design, and are powering up their weapons." he said, and Ilos nodded.

"So they want to fight? Well then, lets see what they can do. Order Sabres seven and Eight to get back to the fleet as full speed. Tell them to drop sheild if they need to. And open a channel to the Vagaari. I wish to speak with them." Ilos said, and his communications officer smiled and nodded. He knew what the admiral was about to try. And if it didnt work, they lready had a short jump plotted out that would get them away from any battles they didnt want to fight.

"Channel open Admiral." the officer said, and Ilos nodded. if this worked, all the vagaari vessels would here him, and whatever weas said to him. So he had to do this right. He had a feeling he would only get one shot at it.

"Attention Vagaari vessels. This is Admiral Hirotek of the GFFA. I wish to speak to you of a certain matter that is of great importance to both yourselves, and to the GFFA." he said, but before he could continue, a snarling voice came over the comm.

"You will immeditaly surrender your ships, and prepare to be boarded. Any resistance will result in your destruction." the voice said, and Ilos sighed. This wasnt going to be as easy as he had hoped.

***************************************************

As Seryk flew with the remnents of the mandalorian army, he wondered how thye were going to get off the planet. The Repora had the planet blockaded with enough vessels to prevent a normal evacuation. And he knew that the one cruiser Fett had in reserve was no where near enough to break the blockade without getting blasted into scrap. But at the moment, that was the least of hius problems. Right now, getting away from the reporan behind him was.

Around him, other Mandalorians thought the same thing. But along with that, was the thoughts of defeat. They had been defeated in open battle, something that had only happened a handfull of times in their entire history. But they had never been routed like they had been today. They had been defeated soundly by an enemy that was far more dangerous, for more deadly than any they had ever faced. But even after defeat, the Mandalorians were happy. They had found the one thing their race had always wanted. An enemy that proved to be a challenge.

Soon, they were within the range of the bases' defensive weapons, and the remaining mandalorians landed quickly and began to set up new positions within the rocky formations that surrounded the base. If the Repora followed them this far, they would find that cornered mandalorians were a far more dangerous foe than ones they had fought before.

OOC: This is my first post, so tell me If I mess up the story.

IC: (Rimak Ardar)

Ardar scanned the battle of Adumar from the bridge of Cyclical Death. Finally he shook his head. "Not my choice for a first battle," he said "It will be dificult to win without taking heavy casualties." He walked away from the viewport

"It's time, We'll attack... That one." He pointed to the Harbringer "We use manuver G12." He said, "Sir, we never had time to practice Twelve. Perhaps Eleven would be better." Ardar looked at the officer, with the 'That's why I'm the captian.' look. "Well, If we use that manuver, we would go up, and that would leave are least defended area Open To attack." Ardar said the last part Slower and louder than the rest. The officer looked down, angry that Ardar had bested him once more. "I rest my case" Ardar mumbled.

"Commence manuver Gee-Twelve. Direct Fifteen percen of engine power to forwar shields." Ardar Ordered. "Time to give little children somthing to cry about at night." one of his comm officer said. "Yeah!" another officer yelled. "No," Ardar said, "Not the cry." Two officers braved the agony that might befall them if they even tilted there heads, and looked. "Sir?" one asked. Ardar sighed, "Not the children you Chiss." The officer winced at this. Then Ardar started to laugh, "Die... Anyway, back to the battle. We have A job to do here... Oh, and by the way, Try not to Yell, on the Bridge."

OOC: That should be better. sorry about the first one.

OOC: Sorry BS but the trophy for least serious player still goes to kaja...

IC: (Do I actually have a character? no.) :lol:

High above the world of Ord Mantell the 1st United Defense Alliance fleet decloaked. Their ships arrayed in a perfect attack position enabling them to pulverize those few forces to their front and punch evacuation transports through the defenses and to the besieged forces. Everything seemed to be going as planned and that if anything was what bothered Commodore Athien the most as she settled back in her command chair and gazed across space at the Raporan ships. She forced a smile as she nodded to the holos of the captains of her squadron of vessels, "You may fire at will."

The chiss squadron under her command was the first to fire in the fleet and the Raporan vessels before her the first to suffer from the withering barrage. As the other squadrons opened fire the Rapora lit up their drives and dove toward the planet.

It was a maneuver the Rapora had exercised time and again, a maneuver that maximized the Raporan ship's advantages. They rolled as they moved away from their attackers to spread out the impact of the weapons fire on a multitude of shields. Those Vagaari ships that had been scattered among the raporan formation were destroyed in the volley as the majority of the Raporan ships escaped.

The Chiss had their window for pulling the troops out, but the Rapora had escaped with only the loss of a half dozen light cruisers. Even now the Raporan ships were pulling away from the planet attempting to reverse the situation and entrap the UDA ships within the world's gravity well.

OOC: I have always been serious!!! *nods his head like a bobblehead doll*

IC: Deep in space, near the Mantell system, Captain Ivak sat in the bridge of his warship, the Warriors' Rage, and carefully watched the holgram before him. It startled him when he had received the message, he had been under strict orders for communication silence unless absolutely necessary. But what startled him even more, was the man speaking to him from the hologram. Stanging barely six inches tall, but still a commanding figure, was Grand Admiral Thrawn.

"Attention Mandalorian vessels. No doubt you are aware of the battle for Ord Mantell, and how the forces allied against the Reporan Emperium there have suffered grave losses. I will be leading a large force to the planet in an attempt to break the blockade to retreive not only my forces, but also the GFFA, Imperial, and Mandalorain forces also trapped there. While I do not forsee any major catastrophes in the making, I wish to have your vessels on standbye if we require your assistance. If needed, I will contact you." the hologram said, then vanished.

Ivak had tried to trace the messages origins, but his comm officer had simply told him that the message seemed to have originated in the ship itself. Ivak had no idea how that was possible, but he had decided not to let it bother him. What did bother him was the fact that Thrawn had known that the mandalorians had warships in the area. While he knew it shouldn't have, considering the fact that it was Thrawn, ivak knew that most of the warships near the Mantell system had arrived only days before. and had been jumping randomly through space since then, to prevent enemy ships from locating them.

"Captain, we are receiving a transmission, high priority, from the flagship." a comm officer said, and Ivak nodded. More than likely it was orders about if they were going to do what Thrawn had requested.

"Let me see it." he ordered, and the script appeared on a small moniter at his chair. He read through it, and nodded.

"Alright. We have a change of orders. We will continue to jump randomly, but we must be prepared to assist Thrawn if he requests it. Bring the vessel to high alert." he said, and he received a hail of acknowledgements from around the bridge. Ivak sat back and ponderd to himself carefully, wondering if the warfleet was finally going to enter this war in force. If so, he had no doubt that if it came to that, this war was going far worse than he had thought.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

OOC: Rise Darth Sidious and show your worth :D .

IC:

"Good Commodore Vraten, your ships performed their maneuver flawlessly. Pass on my complements to the crews," The Timeless One smiled as he turned toward the holographic representation of the battle unfolding outside, "Our losses were fewer then anticipated. Now its time to make good on our start, contact the groups. Have them stand by to engage."

* * *

Han Solo glanced up from his holomap as the shimmering holographic image of Grand Admiral Thrawn appeared across from him, "General Solo, my ship's have opened a window for the evacuation of your forces. We'll hold them off as long as we can but I suggest you begin evacuating as soon as possible."

Han smiled, "Already on it Admiral, we'll need you to send some of your fighters down to ensure our transports a chance to get to your window. The Rapora have near complete air superiority." Han grimaced as the building rocked from an explosion, "I've already ordered the embarkation of the remnants of the UDA force, they will be among the first up the well."

"Thank you General. You will have your air support." Thrawn answered before shimmering out of existence.

Han turned to the command staff, "Inform all commands, Anoat Race. I repeat, Anoat race. Lets go people." He turned to Leia, "Grab goldenrod and head for the Falcon, we'll burn our way out of here."

Leia's smile twisted slightly before answering, "I sure hope she doesn't need maintance."

Kyp and Ulan turned as they stepped inside the hardened ferrocrete walls of the base. Through the door they watched as more personnel stormed toward the opening, desperate to escape the enemy hot on their tail. Already there were defenders filing in along the firing slits and loosing their fire on the onrushing Rapora and Sith. As Kyp closed down his blade and hunkered down behind the cover he pulled out his commlink, "Kyp to Horn, we're under cover but the Rapora are still advancing."

"So you want me to do something about it? Sorry Kyp but I'm a little busy here."

"Sith," Kyp muttered as he thumbed off the comlink and filled his hands with a blaster from one of the fallen stormtroopers and glanced out the firing slits, "This isn't good."

Through the viewports he watched as the Raporan armored units finished off the last of the imperial walkers. He could see a formation of stormtroopers beings cut to peices after being rounded up by the Rapora. The once green and lush landscape now looked as barren as the Geonosian plains and as pockmarked as an asteroid, but it wasn't over yet.

Tuvax and his forces formed up and charged towards the enemy base. The remaining forces of the ase were letting loose all the fire power they had left assisted by automatic turbolasers.

As Tuvax's forces approached the Turbolasers opened fires into the middle of the Rapora formation.

"SPLIT UP!!!" shouted Tuvax

The Warriors preaded out and took cover, answering to the enemy blaster fire with their plasma rifles.

Tuvax clenched his fists. They needed to get in quickly before the base was evacuated. They would have to find a way round those defences.

******

Garik sweared as a corvette explosed. The Rapora reinforcements had allowed the Vaagari to regroup and form a united front. Several of the larger republicain crusers had already been destroyed by both sides were still at about equal force. Those raporan ships needed to be destroyed.

"Concentrate all fire on those Raporan cruisers. Support ships must try and give us cover. All bombers on the Vaagari fleet. That should keep them busy."

Yes it would but Garik just hoped it would be long enough...

  • 4 weeks later...

Corran winced as his X-wing was buffeted by a flak burst from below. His shields held as he banked away from the stream of weapons fire and spared a glance down. Below him the brilliant gold and red flash of weapons fire lit up the noman's land now closing in on the base. Personnel and droids from both sides were cut down in that deadly space. Behind the base parts of the ground opened up to reveal hangers below and to give the transports hidden deep within their escape route.

The Rapora were not about to let that happen. Already a number of Raporan Walkers were moving in toward the base, their brilliant gold plasma cannons ripping apart weapons empacements and firing into the bunkers of the defenders opening up points of entry for the sith and rapora.

As a Gallofree Yards Medium Transport rocketed out of the hanger Corran keyed his comm, "Transport FTS-985, your vector is clear, I'll cover you."

* * *

Kyp dove back from the firing slit before him as a red blaster bolt slipped in and flashed across his hand. He dropped the blaster and hissed as the slight burn flashed through his nerves. What made it worse was that it had been his own shot, ricocheted by a Sith Warrior.

Suddenly down the bunker the walls blew open and stormtroopers were cut down by concentrated enemy fire. A small squad of Raporan infantry poured out of the gap and into the hall. Their lightsabers humming with malice.

Ulan stepped into the hall his lightsaber lit, "All troops fall back!"

Kyp nodded to the troops near him, "You heard him, fall back. Ulan, go with them. I'll slow them down!"

* * *

For Grand Admiral Thrawn, suddenly everything went wrong. Directly behind his force the Raporan and Aklasp forces that had appeared to have withdrawn returned. Their opening volley struck the rearmost ships in his formation, the Carriers, but their presence ensured further losses to come.

Seryk cursed as a reporan plasma blast came dangerously close to him. The reporan legions that were still charging the mandalorains has finally slowed their assault, bu only because the bases auto-cannons had began cutting them down when they had come into range.

"All forces, prepare for evacuation. i repeat, prepare for evacuation!" Fetts voice rang through the comm, and Seryk looked around. he couldn't figure out where their transports were, but he frankly didn't care. he just wanted out. But then, a torrent of fire fell from the skies. Seryk looked up, and saw a pair of what looked like heavy assault transports flying quickly towards the base. Their fire fell into the Reporan forces surrounding the mandalorians, clearign the way for a slightly safer evacuation.

"Commander Seryk, your group is out first! Get up there!!" Someone yelled from behind him, and Seryk then realised that the transports werent going to land, but he was going to have to go up first. Not questioning his orders, Seryk ignited his jetpacks, and blaste towards the transporst. Around him nearly a hundred other warriors did the same. As they launched, a squad of mandalorain starfighters flashed by, intent on preventing the Reporan from concentrating on the retreating mandalorians. Seryk watched as the starfighters strafed the enemy forces, one of them taking several hits, and crashing into a reporan walker, both vehicles exploding violently.

As Seryk got closer to the transports, he looked around, and saw the the Reporan forces has broken through into the base at several spots, and soon the base would be overrun he silently hoped to himself that Solo was already gone. seryk landed in the transport, and saw several other transports launch from hidden hanger bays. He also saw several more Mandalorian assault transports appear, and fly downwards to the embattled mandalorains. Squadrons of starfighters escorted them, to prevent the Reporan starfighters that remained from blasting them out of the sky with ease.

On the ground, Fett looked about, and sighed. Many Mandalorians ha ddied, far to many for his liking. But they had learned several valuable lessons about their enemies. And he supposed that their enemies had learned several valuable lessons about them as well. But only time would tell who had learned the most.

Athien felt a a feeling as cold as ice roll across her as the new contacts appeared. The enemy had not been fooled, and now they'd have to improvise. She glanced over to the sensor display and sighed, "Whats the status of the evacuation?"

"Ten percent of personnel are away commodore."

"Very well," Athien replied as she felt the cold calculating minds of the enemy plot. She hoped they'd hurry, the enemy were nearly in firing range.

* * *

Lieutenant Thompson ran down the corridors of the base, her blaster out and in her hand. She was the one of the few survivors of the Raporan assault against the UDA and commando forces. Behind her the battered remnants of her forces trudged up the halls and into the hidden chamber reserved for their escape. The aging YT-2000 that sat there would be their tickect out of their and their only chance at survival. They hurried on and blasted up into the sky without a second glance.

* * *

Han Solo clambered into the cockpit of his aging frieghter and gave a quick glance of the instruments, "Alright honey, we'll be off in a minute, the techies forgot to refuel her."

"Sith," Leia spat as she turned and slipped past Kyle Katarn and headed back to the ramp. She'd get the tanks full, and in record time to. As she went Han touched his base wide comm.

* * *

Ulan Shai raced back through the halls, his lightsaber humming. Behind him soldiers sped along. Sometimes pausing to fire back where they'd come. Suddenly the comm system klicked on and Han's voice filled the base, "Attention, all troops are to head for their assigned transports immediately. You have fice minutes."

Ulan glanced at the soldiers, "You heard him, move!" As he gestured with his saber Ulan thought back and tried to recall where the Falcon was berthed. It had been where he'd been planning to ride out.

* * *

Kyp heard the announcement as he backed down the corridor, his saber deflecting the blasts directed toward him. He kept fighting and slowly backed down the corridor, toward the Falcon.

* * *

Admiral Hirotek glanced at the consoles and readouts, "All stations ready weapons target their..."

Suddenly an enormous new contact appeared in the system, a Raporan Vareme Class Super Cruiser with a large number of support ships. Immediately Hirotek new the tables had turned, "All ships withdraw to Epsilon Base." After a few moments the ships disappeared back into hyperspace. It had been a close call, seperating the Vagaari from their masters would be more difficult then he'd thought.

OOC: Hirotek has been transfered to the subplot "Breaking the Vagaari"

The corridor seemed to grow larger and natural light seemed to come out at the end of a sharp left turn, they were finally in the Falcon's Berth.

"Leia!" Ulan called as he recognized the familiar figure handling the fuel pumps near the hangar. The woman turned to the Yuuzhan Vong.

"Quick! Get on the ship, we are about to go," she answered and the soldiers ran up the ramp.

"Kyp," Ulan said as he helped Leia with the fuel pump.

Leia looked at him and then heard the faint sounds of a terrible battle coming from the corridor. Ulan drew out his lightsaber and ignited it and stepped closer as the sound of lightsabers grew louder.

"Han, she should be already filled up." Leia spoke into her comlink and ignited her lightsaber. "We are waiting for Kyp."

***

"Captain Solo!" Kyle said as Han sat down in the cockpit. "Leia has said that the Falcon has been reloaded with fuel."

"Good, now where is she? We should get going now."

"Ulan and she seem to be waiting for Kyp in the hangar."

"What?" Han looked at one of the screens for the external views of the Falcon. There were both of them, lightsabers raised waiting for something to come out the corridor.

"Kyle, get into the turret, shoot anything unfriendly that comes out of the Eastern Corridor."

Han sat down in his chair and got the Falcon started. The fuel's been loaded, and all he was waiting for was for all to get on the Falcon. A feeling of dread took hold of him and he found it very hard to keep his eyes off the screen where Leia and Ulan where waiting.

***

Ulan took a step closer, the sound of lightsabers and of blaster fire had not stopped nor had it grew louder nor had it quiet down. For some reason Kyp had not been able to continue his run for the Falcon or else he had decided not to.

Either way Ulan was anxious and wanted to run back into the tunnel, give in to his Yuuzhan Vong battle rage. Leia's soft but commanding voice halted him.

"Stop," Ulan stopped and started to listen again. The sound of lightsaber and fire had increased in intensity and grew louder. A reflection of Kyp's lightsaber blade could be seen reflected in the metal plating, just before a Rapora warrior was sent flying into the wall.

Out of the corridor Kyp jumped out his back turned to Leia and Ulan looking at whatever would come out of the tunnel, holding the lightsaber in one hand, his other kept close to his chest. Not daring to look sideways, Kyp timidly backstepped. Ulan was about to jump five meters ahead and grab his companion when the Rapora came out of the corridor. The warrior that had done so much harm to the Imperial lines had chased them all the way here. He had escaped and outlived the shadowbombs Horn had thrown in his direction.

From the belly turret of the Falcon Kyle Katarn opened fire, but the Rapora rolled to his left as rubble closed off the corridor. Immediately following the roll, the Sith Rapora leaped towards Kyp who parried his block and sent him pushed him away. Leia and Ulan jumped ahead to aid Kyp, the Jedi frowned at them. He extended his wounded hand and sent both Ulan and Leia flying to under the Falcon's ramp.

"Away!" Kyp cried as the Rapora once again jumped on him. And backed off as Kyp held off his attack, as a hungry predator the Rapora began to circle the human. Wounded, Kyp did his best to offer the Rapora his less vulnerable side. They were both entangle in a deathly dance. The Rapora would try Kyp's defenses with quick strikes but none got through.

Ulan got on his feet again and felt the Force boiling, both, Sith and Jedi were drawing enormous power from the Force gathering it around ech of them. In all the mayhem of battle Ulan could feel a certainty in Kyp's mind but the exact thought evaded him.

"Oh no," Leia said beside him. Ulan then saw where slowly Kyp had lead his opponent. Still holding his own against the warrior Kyp was now towering near the controls of the fuel pump.

Ulan wanted to jump forward, but Kyp prevented him, he struggled against him trying to open a way to get to Kyp.

"You cannot help him," a disembodied voice cried to him.

Next to him, Leia grabbed him by his arm and dragged him on the Falcon. As soon as he put up a foot in the ramp the Falcon began to hover. Off he saw Kyp with his lightsaber in his hand preparing to strike at the warrior.

Ulan could feel an explosion in the Force, the anger and hatred of the Rapora came to a catharsis. The Jedi had opened his defense in a foolish and slow move. Then came the triumphant joy of Kyp, his satisfaction outpowered the pain and a spiritual smile perdured in the Force as a sense of danger overcame the Rapora who instinctively leaped several meters back.

In this instant Ulan though of jumping off the Falcon and running for Kyp when it struck him that the instant was gone, the Jedi's saber had fallen over the fuel pump. The moment was part of the past: The Falcon hovered dozens of meters over the inferno.
