What small scale skirmishes would you like to see?

there wouldn't be any scripting involved, just starting fleets, possibly positioned on the map, they would reside under the warlords evolution gametype

right now there are some basic scenarios like

20 gunships vs ISD I

6 dreads vs ISD I

2 Mc80's vs ISD I

blockade run large and small (ISD and some support ships and interdictor, mon cal and support ships)

Maybe try and recreate some classic battles from the movies and some of the books? That might be hard since in the original trilogy the only space battles you see are around the Death Star anyway, but the fiction has plenty to work with I think.

Yeah, classic battles would be great! Althoughif you were to re-create Endor, I dont think giving the Imperials a Death Star would be "fair". In the movie, a simple fighter could destroy it, but im sure in the game, that would not be possible. It would be better if the Death Star was featured in the background, and the objective would be to destroy the Executor, or a timed battle, where the player has to keep Home One alive, thus simulating the time it would take for the shield to be destroyed on Endor and the fighters to destroy the Death Star II.

Other classic battles would be great also! Some examples could be the battle of Bilbringi, with Thrawn for the Imperials and Ackbar for the Alliance, and the battle for Coruscant (or Yuuzhantar), featuring the Galactic Alliance and Yuuzhan-Vong.

It must be noted that each of these battles weren't fought to the death, but rather until simultaneous events took place that affected the battle directly: The death of Emperor Palpatine at Endor, the death of Grand Admiral Thrawn at Bilbringi and the death of Supreme Overlord Shimrra at Yuuzhantar.

If some clone-era ships make it there would be some interesting space battles as well

maybe some of the scenarios from other SW games, e.g. Tie Fighter or X-Wing Alliance? There's a couple of good battles worth re-creating, from the final stage of the Enemies of the Empire campaign in tie-fighter, to the retrieval of the Death Star II plans in X-Wing Alliance.

Other than that, you've got some of the skrmishes in the EU -

The battle of Sluis Van Shipyards (Heir to the empire)

The capturing of the Dark Force Dreadnaughts (Dark Force Rising)

The Mount Tantiss Campaign (The Last Command)

The (numerous) battles over coruscant from EP III through to the new jedi order.

Same goes for the battles over Yavin Four

The Battles over Borealiis (Rogue Squadron books and NJO)

There's heaps to choose from. I'd be happy to see any of it.

Is there any chance of grabbing that 'Duel' format from the PDS crew?

I'm working on it, though having a few issues getting it to work right, but hopefully you'll have an ingame editor soon

as for the actual scenarios provide a few details on the ships you think should be involved and how many

For the battle of Sluis Van, and this is only a starting estimation:

For the imperials -

5 ISD Mk II's

35 squadrons of fighters (20 fighters - 10 squads that can come out of a freighter/small disarmed capital ship in the ship yard, 8 bombers, 5 interceptors, 2 advanced or defenders)

25 assault transports (substituting the mole miners and their zero-g troopers) for capturing ships

10-15 stike cruisers/frigates.

For the New Republic -

20 disabled Star cruisers of varying types (the capital ships converted to bulk freighters) as the capture targets

1 Golan III

2 Golan II's

3 of those cool new platforms in the latest release with no weapons on them to make up the ship yard.

35-40 frigates and assorted escort capital ships

10 Assault frigates

20 squadrons of fighters (10 x-wings, 4 a-wings, 3 y-wings, 3 b-wings)

5 squads of escort transports

This might be a little ambitious to start with, given what happens in the book.

For the battle of Bilbringi (Last Command)

Empire

1 Imperator II Star Destroyer

7 Imperator I Star Destroyers

1 Dominator Star Destroyer

8 Interdictor Cruisers

30 Dreadnoughts

12 Loronar Strike Cruisers

24 carrack Cruisers

4 Golan II platforms

30 TIE fighters (mix of interceptors and TIE fighters)

Various Shipyard instalations.

New Republic

1 Independence-class Cruiser (Home One)

1 Mon Cal Liberty-class Cruiser

2 MC-80s

2 Assault Frigates

1 Imperator I Star Destroyer

16 X-Wing

6 Y-Wings

Militia (Allied to the New Republic)

1 Agressor Cruiser

1 Providence Cruiser

1 Action V transport

1 Barloz-class freighter (dont know if you created that one)

1 CR90 Corvette (the same ship as Leia's consular ship)

2 Correlian Gunship

1 Star Galleon

A few things must be adressed: The militia do not appear right away, but a little after the battle has begun. For authenticity purposes, some Imperial shipyard installations would have to blow up as the Militia make their entrance on the New Republic's side. Again, for authenticity purposes, I must stress that this battle was not fought to the end, but rather until *SPOILER HERE ;D* Grand Admiral Thrawn dies, so a timed survival would be prefferable for the New Republic. On the other hand, if either suggestions are not possible, then I guess a deathmatch will have to do. By the way, this takes place in the Bilbringi system ;D.

I would love to have the final battle over Yuuzanthar, but considering that there are thousands of ships involved, I won't even begin to suggest it. I will rather suggest the following:

Battle of Borosk (some desolate but heavily fortified planet in the Imperial Remnant)

1 Imperator II Star Destroyer

7 Imperator I Star Destroyers

1 Modified Victory-class Star Destroyer

1 Enforcer-class Frigate

1 Dreadnought

2 Golan III platforms

4 Golan II platforms

13 TIE Interceptor squadrons and 11 TIE Defender squadrons

Yuuzhan-Vong

3 Miid Ro'ik Cruisers

1 Kor Chokk (the Yuuzhan-Vong equivalent of an SSD, or a battleship analogue)

1 Clustership (Yammosk-carrying vessel)

4 Slaveships (the equivalent of a Galofree Transport)

20 Coralskipper squadrons

1 Mon Callamari Cruiser (Home One)

1 Mon Cal Liberty-class Cruiser

2 MC-80

2 Assault Frigates

1 Imperator I Star Destroyer

16 X-Wing

6 Y-Wings

I don't see how the Rebels could win this battle tbh, I mean - wtf - they only have a few caps while the Imperials have 9 of them, plus plenty of cruisers.

I'm just trying to stick as close to the books as possible...the battle was an ambush for the Alliance by Thrawn, which is why theres so many Interdictor cruisers. Luck and good leadership on the part of the Alliance eventually won them the battle.

Although I would be reluctant to reduce the number of capital ships, I think reducing the support ships (Dreadnoughts, Carrack and Loronar Cruisers) would probably even out the odds a little. But whatever, I'm just giving EJ suggestions that stick as close to the book as possible, and we'll see what he does with them.

Battle of Pesitiin (Random, out-of-the-way planet)

Empire

1 Imperator II Star Destroyer

8 Preybird-class starfighter squadrons

4 TIE bomber squadrons

Cavrilhu Pirates (Militia)

1 Kaloth-class Batllecruiser (Don't think you created that one, so maybe replacing it with the Agressor or something pirate-looking)

4 Corellian Gunships

3 Assault gunboats

6 Heavy Starfighter Squadrons

there will be a Endor battle, it is pretty playable on my machine (it has 22 ISDs and 18 mon cals  plus many frigates for the rebs)

my system is an A64 3000+ with 2 gig of ram and a 7900 GS video card

the main benefit here is the optimized small explosions

Unless you had some lame scripted objectives to do a "crash into the bridge" attack haha

You could always ram a MC80 into the Executor, not sure if that'd be such a good idea though.

Mmm convert all that mass into energy and...

I think if we ever have a Battle of Endor mission, we will need to disable kamikaze attacks (esp maybe for that one fighter into the bridge hehe)

Kamikaze everything just seems to be cheap
