"No, its good! There are several interesting ideas. I guess it's kinda hard for me to make a constructive comment on the subject, since i don't really believe in midichlorians, but i'm going to try...

"I think that if they do exist, then you're pretty much entirely right about them being more a conduit to the force, than the force itself - i seem to recall Qui-Gon saying something to that effect once - and that its not neccessarily how many a person has got, but how they use them. But i've gotta say im not so sure about the battery theory..."

"Yeah it does sound kind of weird but how else do you explain the jedis act after they have done something huge. Its like they have been in a bar fight for several hours. You dont get that way by throwing somthing away that you have an unlimited supply of. So its eather the medichlorians are batterys or storage containers for the force or they run out of usable force in the local area which would mean that whole sections of space that had great force battles hapen on them would have no force any more." Tython said hoping that his logic wasnt off the mark.

By this time the conversation had begun to well and truly drift over the top of T'char's head. He downed the rest of his tankard hoping it'd help him get used to the ideas being flung about.

"Uh. Yeah." he said, not really knowing what to say. "I guess. Although those super weapons the Empire are supposed to be creating should help with that." What? Where had that come from? Did that make any sense? But, well and trully drunk, he pressed on. "I hearrrr therresss this one that cannn dessssstroyyy an entire starrrrr"

He paused for a moment, looking around the cantina.

"Hey! Wherrrrre'd eveyone go?"

EDIT: OOC - I just made Sergeant (finally)!!!!!!!

IC:

Karn stared across at the slumped figure of T'char. Reaching his arm over the table, Karn slowly removed his drink and continued talking.

"Actually, the way I understand it, the Jedi need to consentrate hard to focus the force through their bodies. After a while it drains them both physically and mentally. The mental aspect is obviously due to the intense consentration - the physical is due to the force becoming an extension of themselves, as well as the force energy that is a part of them. I guess sort of like the battery anology.

Personally, I'm not one for the medichlorine story - in my own opinion, I simply think they're an organism drawn to beings that can control the force. The stronger one is within the force, the more there are simply because they're attracted to a stronger source.

"Then again, until you experience it - we can only guess."

OOC:

Congrats T'char on reaching Sergeant :D

Tython nodded in agreement and said "Yeah your probably right. I probably shouldn't talk about stuff I know nothing about. Any way T'char I have heard about that Star Crusher. Apparently Admiral Thawn had a secret research base in the middle of a field of black holes and they developed a technology that makes it so a missile that goes off in the middle of a sun will cause an instability and the sun goes super-nova. The new republic apparently sunk the ship into the middle of a gas giant so that no one would be able to use the weapon for good or evil." Tython said in explanation to T'chars question. The only problem is that the Empire or any other nation could build a super weapon and when they do they will almost rule the entire universe untill someone finds out how to stop them.... What sort of super weapon would be the ultimate weapon? one that is unstopable." Tython asked Karn not expecting much of an answer from T'char.

Karn glanced at Tython as he talked about the Maw. How does he know about that? Shacking the thought, Karn just answered hoping to stear the idea of the existance of the Maw away from the topic.

"Hmm, well I've heard those rumours to - of the Sun Crusher. And I think they prove that a super weapon no-longer needs to be the largest thing under the sun.

"Nevertheless, a super weapon needs to be able to defeat any obsticle in it's way - which I think all have been able to do. And they need to get rid of any little weaknesses they may have.

"I'd say you'd either want a massive space station capable of using its super weapon and great ranges, being heavily armoured and having plenty of support weapons to deal with fighters, bombers and cruisers to a lesser extent.

"Or, something that has few weapons along with the super weapon - though is small, fast and manouverable. Which is pretty much the Sun Crusher."

Karn finished his drink as another thought came to mind.

"Or, you could go inbetween the two. The Empire built some Super Star Destroyers that houses weaponry simular to the Executor class SSD, gravity well projectors and a super laser. Lets see, there were the Eclipses and . . . and the Soverigns. Which brings me to my next point - Gravity Well generators. A must for every fleet today, and a definete for a super weapon."

"Gravity Well Generators, Dont they suck up heaps of power?" Tython asked "Oh well the ships they are put on generally have enough power to support them so it probably soesnt matter" Tython said answering his own question. Tython then continued his thought and said "Yes gravity well generators are a definite must for the larger super weapons so that none of their victims can escape. Another thing that all super weapons should have some special ability that cannot be made any where else. Personally I think the ultimate super weapon would be a weapon that may not nessisarilly be able to destroy everything but they are so easy to build that it would be nothing at all to build a fleet of several hundred that could then take on something like the death star and defeat it with ease." Tython said in speculation.

IC: "Mass production can be good - though it can be bad. Look at mass produced battle droids. Without numbers their only use is cannon fodder. Then again, getting swarmed is a good tactic - it's a long used fighter and bomber tactic. Swarm a capital with fighters, only a few will probably be lost, while the rest can deliver their payload of torpedos and bombs.

"Even other vessels, Corvette scale, have begun adopting these tactics. Especially smugglers and some Alliance units prior to the birth of the New Republic.

"Which beckons the next question - what makes an ideal Capital? I'm in favour of weaponary suited to specific tasks - heavy turbolasers for anti-capital backed up by laser cannons for anti fighter and warhead launchers for accuracy and multiple. Can't think of any vessels that fit that description though.

"The ships needs to have decent speed, to keep up with most vessels. Though manouvrability isn't that import in my opinion if the vessels larger than say 700 metres. And, of course, it needs to be strong - both hull and shields."

Tython looked at Karn and nodded "Thats true. I am yet to see the ultimate capital ship with good shields, hull and all the anti-fighter and anti-capital weapons that it needs. I think its because the empire and most other empires dont want to give any one person too much power because if that person turns on them then they could be almost unstopable. That sort of thing would ba s disaster for any empire. Anyway the empire did have all the requirements for a good ship except they spred them out over about three ships." Tython said as he agreed with Karns analysis.

Karn paused for a moment to take in Tython's idea.

"Hmmm, I'd agree that the Empire tries to limit the power of idividuals - though at least towards the end of Palpatines life that wasn't the case with warships entirelly. Remember the Empire created Super Star Destroyers, which could take on an entire fleet by themselves - and in essence they were controlled by one person.

"The problem with the perfect ship is cost. With the current war technology available, I'm sure the Empire could come up with a new ship, with evective anti-capital and anti-fighter weaponary, as well as good speed, manoeuvrebility and shielding. However, the cost for such a vessel would be high, so would maintenance and so on. So, it would be impracticle to build them in large numbers even to serve as flag ships for task forces, or fleets. It's a lot cheaper to create a few cheaper ships to suit these fields - and it also becomes of strategic importance to be able to send soley anti-fighter ships to one area or visa versa.

"Maybe in the future with better technologies, warships like this will be available . . . ah, then again, maybe it's good that they're not around."

"Yes" Tython quickly agreed. Almost too quickly. Tython tried to explain his sudden change in behaviour by saying "I have often seen very good people being corrupted by power. So giving anyone except the most trusted and loyal within the Republic would just be inviting disaster to come in and destroy everything we are fighting for." Tython finninshed by sighing and saying "Sorry I'm a bit sensitive about these topics... I've lost too many close friends that way... I guess its like the old saying goes "dont make friends in war and you wont loose them."" Tython finished by sighing deaply. Edited by Phytho

Staring at the table, Karn finally replied, "War is never something to be fond of. For people like us it's done out of necisity. The Empire brought this onto our galaxy, they created this civil war - and unknown millions, billions of people are dead as a result.

"Now we fight to reclaim the worlds they still terrorised. Hopefully both the Empire and New Republic will find a diplomatic end to this war, and soon."

Tython looked at karn and nodded solemly. "I think thats a problem with most leaders. They dont know their men so they dont care when they lose them. so they probably wouldnt even care if they lost several thousand or million solders in a single battle so long as they win. I think that these sort of people are just sadistic people who would probably be better seuted as vampires." Tython said letting all his anoyance and irritation out in his voice.

"It almost became a way of life for some Imperial commanders throwing Stormtroopers at their enemies in stupid ways. Stormtroopers are elite fighters, and yet now they have a reputation as being canon fodder due to some stupid COs.

"Thank the force, that the New Republic is different. Every commander I know, and all the NR Academies teach to save lifes one way or another." Karn said shacking his head dismally.

Hamilton 'wormie' Munro entered the Cantina. He had flown halfway across the galaxy on his YT-1300 light freighter and he was sick of galley food and playing dejarik against his ships computer, and losing. So he had decided that once he was dirtside, he would seek out some small cantina and have a drink. And here he was.

Stopping on the landing to let his eyes adjust to the dimness of the cantina's interior, Hamilton was assaulted by the body odours of various species. Taking a deep breath to hurry along the process of becoming desensitized to the overwhelming smell, Hamilton walked up to the bar area and ordered a Rylothian Ale.

Turning his back to the barkeep, Hamilton took a drink of his Ale and looked around the Cantina.

Karn eyed the new figure that walked across the cantina floor to the bar. After years of experience in the galaxy, Karn knew better than to let his gaurd down in a cantina.

Still watching the figure at the bar, Karn changed the topic of conversation.

"Speaking of the New Republic - what do you think their policy should be about re-taking planets that are controlled by the Empire still? Srue the Empire is cruel in general, thoguh not too all. And do we, as the New Republic, have the right to liberate them? Even if they don't want it just in order to get rid of the Empire?"

Hamilton took a drink of his Ale just as he heard someone start talking about galactic politics, asking if the Republic should start taking over Imperial controlled worlds even though they do not want to be liberated.

Shaking his head, Hamilton tried to ignore the stupidiy of the question. If he Republic started acting like that, they would be no better than the Empire itself.

Finishing off his Ale, Hamilton ordered another and continued to gaze around the room, keeping his eye on the 'Officer of the New Republic' in case he tried to start something with any Imperial sympathizers

Tython was a little surprised by the sudden change of topic but after thinking for only a moment said "I think that if the Empire leader is one of the worst types and is forcing the local population to do things they dont want to do and they kill people on a whim then they should be gotten rid of.... Though attacking the planet with a fleet would not be the best way that it could be done. Personally I would recommend the use of a small group of commandoes going in and try to take out the empirical soldiers without killing anyone though everyone knows that that is almost imposible to achieve.". As Tython finished he noticed someone standing nearby and he turned and said "Hi, I'm Tython what can I do for you."

OOC - I'm back... :D Oh, hi wormie....

IC - T'char looked up from the bar, momentarily disorientated. It seemed as if he'd been out of it for quite a while, but oddly the conversation seemed to have hardly progressed at all...

"I think that any change to the system, for better or worse, is alwas going to have some bad repercussions. The best the New Republic can really do is to try to regain control of the planets in such a way as to minimise those repercussions. How they would do that, I have no idea..."

"Hi, I'm Tython what can I do for you."

Turing to the person who had addressed him, Hamilton looked him over for a few seconds, trying to remember if he had ever met the man before. Realizing that he hadn't, he replied. "Me? There's nothing you can do for me, but I couldn't help but over hearing your conversation about The New Republic 'liberating' worlds under Imperial control. And if you ask me, you should let the public decide who they want to be allied to. You aren't a pathetic little band anymore. People HAVE heard of the New republic, and if they wanted to join, they would petition to do so. Using covert means or even espionage to sway them into joining your 'Republic' makes you just as bad as the Empire was, less violent mind you, but just as bad."

Hamilton took a drink of his Ale, waiting to see what the trio would say to that.

Tython considered what the new commer had said and replied " You are perfectly right. The people should choose their own government. But how are they going to do that if they are represed or controled by a dictator or tyrant. They will never be able to get a message out to call for help. In that case I think it would be wise for the New Republic to send in some spys, just to find out what the people think and if there is enough support then they can think about trying to "liberate that world". But if the imperials are doing a good job then why stop a good thing?" Tython replied as he looked over at Tchar as he was slowly getting over his drink. Obviously Trandoshions could not hold their drink very well.

Karn eyed the new comer and greeted him with a nod. A jolt of suspicion flooded Karn's mind, that or it was sea of alcohol that he'd ingested over the past few hours.

Shacking his head, Karn got his mind back on track; thanking the force that he was a Corellian and could hold enough liquer to knock out a Wookie.

"That's what I was thinking. If the Empire is doing the right thing, why should they be booted away? Though, the Empire being the Empire might be subduing anyone trying to complain.

"Yet, if the New Republic assumes this and attacks the world to liberate it, it makes them as bad as the Empire."

Karn took another long sip of his whiskey before putting the glass back down.

"Though, the other side of the argument is that the New Republic and Empire are at war. So what happens when the New Republic, for example, attacks an Imperial controlled world and takes it over. Now if the people of the planet still strongly favour the Empire, does the New Republic still have the right to hold and control the planet?"

Karn's questions were beginning to sound as if they were from a stranger rather than his own mouth. Perhaps he'd had enough to drink, for this hour . . .

"I think probably the best thing that could be done at the moment would be to simply leave thing the way they are. If the people on planets under Empire rule have any objections, no doubt word would get around quickly. Then maybe the New Republic should intervene. Probably the best course of action is to create embassies on Empire-controlled worlds and allow disgruntled citizens to make their case there."

Tython turned to t'char and said "Do you really think the empire would allow the new republic to set up embassies on their worlds? I don't know much about politics but I would imagine that the empire would hate having something like that on their world. Thats why I recommended spies so that the new republic can find out about how the people feel without having to go through the empire." At that Tython looked around questioningly as he took a small sip from his beer.

Ulic Horn walked quietly in, his blaster hung low on his side holster. He walked up to the bar and grabbed a bottle of Corellian wiskey and a mug, and walked over to a group of patrons. "How's everyone doing?"

"It's not my fault!"

"Oh yeah? What's in it for me?"
