Chimaera darted ahead of its Task Force, behind her Judicator, Death's Head, Devastator, Ironhand and Relentless moved towards the Rebel formation.

Thrawn's Vengeance Group steadily advanced at the shipyards now apart from the main Rebel Fleet that formed itself to repel the onslaught of Chimaera.

The fleets at the northern and southern pole were still minutes away, as were the likely reinforcements to come from the nearby systems, namely the group of Sullustan pirates.

In a similar fashion Governor Tarkin had assembled a back-up fleet on the planet Eriadu, his throneworld in the Outlier Region.

"Instruct Bloodbath and Sorrow to move up to our starboard flank and exchange fire with that Light Calamarian Cruiser." Noreto commanded.

The two Victory Destroyer obeyed their instructions, and fired on the Oridian, multiple explosion marked the spots where the turbolasers had fired after the Oridian's shields failed.

Rebel Starfighters drew away from the Rebel Core Group, choosing to drive the TIEs away from the important cruisers.

"Signal Iota and Gamma Groups to follow X-Wings," Noreto commanded. A young officer whose name he did not know acknowledged and relayed the message to the communication officer. Both Pellaeon and Deran were absent, Deran was busy in the Secondary Bridge, directing the cordination between Chimaera and her support craft following Thrawn's guidelines and Noreto's corrections. Pellaeon was stationed at the Gunnery command, directing from there the special targets and priorities. Alone in the bridge Noreto commanded his battle group.

"We have lost a ship. Throne of Blood has been destroyed by a squadron of modified freighters." The officer reported.

Throne of Blood had been a Nebulon Frigate, which excelled at skirmished against Starfighters, but modified freighters had a stronger hull and heavier weapons.

"Carrack Cruiser Fiery Path and Hurrican to move to Throne's position, we must hold our positions, the Core of the Rebel Fleet must be isolated from their back-up."

Then the squadron of Freighters sped past the Chimaera's Bridge, single Freighter attracted his attention.

"I want IFF codes of those Freighters!" Noreto ordered

The officer moved to a console and retrieved them.

"We have not obtained them all, we read Gambler's Luck, Mantooine Princess and Bad Samaritan among them."

"Bad Samaritan," Noreto muttered to himself and moved to the communication console.

"Keep me informed on the whereabouts of that smuggler group." Noreto ordered.

"Backboard shields at Sixty-Six percent," Captain Deran's voice informed over the channel from the Secondary Bridge. "Starting manuever to turn starboard shields at them."

In the holographic display, Noreto read the response of the Rebel vessel at their maneuver, instead of wasting shots at the turning Destroyer, the Rebel commander had turned the Calamarian Cruiser's superstructure to facilitate the launch of more starfighters from their hangars. Two squadrons of Y-Wing erupted from the hangars of the Rebel Cruiser, their proto torpedo launcher's blazing.

"Incoming warheads," a troubled Deran informed.

Impacts shook the entire ship.

"We have lost several tractor beam projectors, Batteries from Aleph 07 to Aleph 17, non functional repairs commencing, shields are recovering on this side, turning." Deran informed.

"Launch Heavy TIEs," Noreto commanded. "Open fire on the Hero of Commenor?...!"

The name of Jan Dodonna came to his mind, as he thought of the tactician who was sitting on that vessel. A knot formed in his stomach.

"Bombers launched," his officer informed.

Battle raged on.

The boy took his time. He would not rush home and cause panic over what was likely nothing. He stayed where he was and relaxed, watching the ships in orbit with his electrobinoculars. He knew he should eventually go home, if the Imperials were here it wouldn't be safe to wander. So it was he began his journy back, but it was already late and the walk took a while.

Out in the distance, he saw a destroyed house with several figures around it. He nearly paniced and began running. Was his family okay? When he got close enough he could see only a squad of Imperial stormtroopers, led by a young officer. The house was so badly wrecked nothing inside could survive.

He nervously spoke:

"Wwwwhhat happened?

The young officer leading the group looked at him, perhaps thinking of something to say. His mouth moved, but no words came out. Before he could speak, his commlink beeped and he turned away.

"Noreto here."

One of the stromtroopers then gestured at the boy,

"Scram kid."

The boy ran into his house and gathered all the credits he could find and a few sentimental items. The first fourteen years of his life had disappeared in a moment. Some time later, after the Imperials had left, he emerged. Taking with him what he needed, he then torched the house and left. Destroying the Empire and killing Noreto would now be his life.

***

It was the moment he had waited for so many years. It all came back to him, a boy standing by a burning house...and the young officer's face. For years he had worked his way up, now he was ready. If Evan thought he would die during the battle, he didn't care. Noreto was going to pay. Vengeance would be his.

He saw a TIE and furiously targeted it. The TIE wildly manuvered to evade him, but it could only last so long. Soon it was just more space dust. He looked around and found another one. He quickly sent a barrage of laser at it and clipped it's wing. It wildly spun around, the pilot was certainly doomed.

Evan's rage and thirst for vengeance now controlled him. After so many years he now choose to let it out. To free himself of all that had happened. Every last Imperial would pay. They would all die for it. He saw another TIE and moved at it.

It evaded for a few moments, but another X-wing, a pilot from Blue Squadron, saw it and vaped it. One less piece of Imperial scum in the universe. Evan saw another TIE, this one already being pursued, wildly trying to evade. Evan anticipated it's manuvers and blow it to pieces. He looked for another targeted and saw a group of Imperial bombers.

"All right Green Squadron, we have some vulnerable bombers. Blue group, protect us and we'll send the Imperial scum to their deaths."

His pilots cheerly followed his order, they wanted to kill the Imperials almost as much as him. Almost. The masses of TIEs were difficult to break through, but Evan's X-wings managed to make their way in, and once in Blue Squadron was more than capable of covering Green group. The bombers neared a Rebel cruiser and were about to fire, but they got no further. Once in, Evan's pilots had a field day. The slow bombers struggled to evade and not one survived. Evan set off in search of new targets....

Meanwhile, the Rebel fleet was hanging on. Ever more ships were on their way and the defense platforms were a great help.

Dally whooped happily as his groups made a strafing run over the hull of the Chimaera. He had already led a rather successful run against a frigate and it fighter escort, and had manage to destory with with only the loss of a single freightor. And now he was leading them on what should have been a suicidal assault on the Admirals star destroyer. As his group turned around to make another run at the destoryer, he noticed the ship take several torpedoe hits from a group of Y-wings, and he smiled. The admiral was in trouble now, his shields were starting to flouder. He thought about this for a moment, and decided to make things worse for the admiral.

"Alright guys, lets deal some real damage now. Lets hit the domes of that destoryer. Hit it with everything you got. I want that Admiral to know that we are gunning for him" he ordered, and he got a fulrry of responces from his group. When his group was finally formed up, they began their run on the command deck of the destroyer, and there were soon in range. A number of torpedoes shot out, followed by a few missles. But he knew most of the heavy firepower they had was already used up on taking out the frigate they had destroyed. But as he saw them start to hit, he realized that they were more than enough to take out at least one of them. As he got closer, he opened up with his laser cannons, and we rewarded with the explosion of one of the domes.

As he flew past the command deck, he heard a scream, and winced as he realized that another one of his ships had fallen, this time to peices of the dome as it exploded. He cursed, and turned his ship around, intending an turning the other dome into a firey mess. The rest of his group turned as well, and he then saw the TIE squadrons screaming over the command decks. He swore, and began to fire wildly at them. His group scattered wildly, and as he turned to engage a pair of ties, a bright flash came from behind his ship. he checked his sensors quickly, and noticed that one of the larger freightors in his group was missing, and the other dome was in flames. He swore, realizing what had happened. He turned his attention back to the fighters. he knew that no rebel deaths were in vain today.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

The bridge of Liberty shook slightly as proton torpedoes struck the shields. The elite fighters on the rebel side had decimated the attacking bombers with ease, forcing them into close combat where rebel ships had the advantage over the unshielded TIEs, but a few had come through. The shields of the cruiser had sustained minimal damage, but Ackbar doubted they would even hold up for long once the capital ship lines came into firing distance with each other.

The game, for now, was to stall. Buy the incoming reinforcements some time while regaining as much functionality as possible. Then, try to do as much damage to the enemy as possible before he achieved his inevitable victory.

Status reports poured in from all over the bridge. The battle went better than predicted. For now. It would get ugly when the slugging matches between the larger ships began.

"Hold your positions" he ordered to the fleet. "Let no imperial ship get behind you. The line of defense must not fall."

The imperial destroyers moved towards the rebels' positions quickly. Ackbar took a deep breath as green fire poured in at the light cruisers and frigates ahead. "May the Force be with us."

Looking for targets, Evan saw the "Junkyard Group" in trouble. Groups of TIEs were moving on them and they had scattered. Evan led his squadrons towards them. Time to shed more Imperial blood.

The freighters were in danger of being overwhelmed, but Evan's strike put the TIEs on the defensive. As Evan vaped one TIE after another, they hastily retreated and moved to regroup. Suddenly, a group of odd looking and extremly fast fighters darted in and came in for a run on the retreating TIEs. A few more TIEs exploded and any hopes of regrouping the TIEs were lost. The Junkyard Group could finish it from there. The odd looking fighters must have been Commander Baumer's A-wings.

Evan then noticed two squadrons of Y-wing, they appeared to be moving to attack one of the VSDs.

"Blue squadron, cover Green group. Orange squadron hunt down TIEs threatening our capitol ships. Green Squadron with me."

Blue squadron covered the Y-wing and Green squadron moved with them on their torpedo run. Blue Squadron did an excellant job of keeping off pesky TIEs and the fighter sucessfully released their TIEs. The huge amount of torpedoes launch at once sealed the VSDs fate.

The groups then broke up, the Y-wings looking for another large target. Out of the corner of his eye, Evan saw a carrack cruiser. An easy target...

The forces of Merick had adopted a arrow formation to prepare the attack on Thrawn's task force.

Following The Chronicle were 3 Nebulon fregates 5 corvettes and an ancien ISD. The Group with which Thrawn's was going to attack them was composed of two VSDs and the Vengeance. The Two VSDs were in front with the ISD following.

A few seconds before firing range the VSDs separtated and passed along the side of the Chronicle. Behind them was the Vengeance... with its Ion Cannons facing them. The Vengeance had used the VSDs to hide its maneouver. The Cannons opened fire on the Chronicle.

"Captain we have lost the shields and our motricity."

"Stop firing" ordered Merick. He did not want to attract the TIE fire. "And call for fighter support."

Evan fired again and watched the TIE fighter blow to pieces. What kind of pilots were being sent out here? These Imperials couldn't hope to kill the elite of the Rebellion.

"This is General Merick requesting fighter support!"

Two squads of Y-wings, along with Evan's X-wings immediatly reacted. Surprisingly, most of the X-wings were still in good condition. They had been truely ready for this final battle.

"Green and Blue will cover you guys, Orange will join the proton torpedo run."

Groups of TIEs tried to stop them on their way, but they were no match. When they finally got there, Evan saw the three Star Destroyers covered by groups of TIEs. More inexperianced and unprepared pilots, may they all die.

Evan moved to attack the nearest TIE. It juked and jinked and managed to escape to the safety of numbers. Other TIEs, however, did not. Suddenly, the Chronicle released a laser canon strike at the mass of TIEs. They were forced to scatter, and the X-wings closed in for the kill.

They tried to reorginaize, and in some cases they formed small groups, but it was not enough. The X-wings picked them off, one by one. After Orange had completed their first torpedo run on a VSD, Evan decided it was enough. The Y-wings could handle the rest.

"We've lost our Sensor Domes," an officer reported. The modified freighters had scored to direct hits to them, thought it had cost them dearly.

"Incoming torpedoes," the officer reported. "Shields absorbed the damage, we are down to 25 percent in the bridge section."

Noreto nodded, the damage dealt to Chimaera was considerable, but he expected the battle to slow down a bit, most of the Rebel Fighters had already spent their proto torpedoes, the Y-Wings were returning to their command ships, to reload or refuel. The freighters had already spent theirs on the attack on the frigate and the attack on the Chimaera and were now engaging one of the Carracks.

Chimaera had destroyed a handful of Rebel Frigates and some of the Corellian Transports, two Corvettes had wdrawn away, refusing to engage Chimaera. With the outer layer of their defense formation destroyed Imperial Destroyers and Cruisers were taking shots at the Calamarian Cruisers.

"Recall Alpha Squadron, and send out Gamma Squadron, order them to remain within range of the Chimaera's turbolasers. Signal all Chimaera Group to start rotation of their fighter squadrons."

Most Imperial commanders, blinded by their delusive ideas of their inevitable supremacy, trusted that sheer starfighter superiority would win them a battle, Noreto had learned only that send many TIEs against the Rebels only resulted in chaotic dogfights, were the Rebel Fighters obtained more targets.

With the rotation he assured himself the possibility to send out fresh fighters into the battle. Now without torpedoes most Rebel Fighters from X-Wing, Y-Wings, Z-95 and the single squadron of that particular design should be more vulnerable.

Chimeara maneuvered to provide some cover to their launching fighters that broke in trios to focus on the Rebel X-Wings that hung around the more important Calamarian Cruisers.

Noreto analyzed the battle, the rotation of two squadron had brought new fresh fighters into battle, so the small-craft battle should start favoring the Imperials. Thrawn's Vengeance Group were in position around the shipyards, battling the small Rebel Force that had been reinforced by the planetary fleets from the poles. Chimaera now ventured into the center of the Rebel defensive formation, finally within range of Liberty. But one ship troubled him, Hero of Commenor hung behind his aft, exchanging fire with some of the Victory Destroyers. The man in command of Hero of Commenor, had commanded Victory Destroyer for a long time, and knew perfectly the tactics such vessels could do. Noreto shook the thoughts on Jan Dodonna away, and focused on opening the defensive gap further, Relentless and Judicator had already moved and incinirating corvettes and frigates fled from the oppressive fire of the Imperial Destroyers.

Finally Noreto located the Freighter Group. Several klicks away and knew that Dally on his Bad Samaritan must have saved a few more torpedoes to toss at him. But Noreto too, had the thumb on the trigger.

Merick watched the technicians hastening along the bridge. They were desperatly try to repair before an imperial ship decided to give thew "coup de grace". The main generator of the ship had broken down and only the life support systems were still working. Even the lights had failed, the reapir teams were working using the liht of torches.

Suddenly the lights came back on.

"Power back Sir." said a technician with a large smile on his face.

"Do we have shields?"

"Slowly coming back." said one of the crewmen after typing on a console "70%, 75, 80"

Merick switched on his comlink.

"Gunb control this is the cptain. How are things happening?"

Not too bad Sir. We lost a few turbolasers because of the Ion charges. Now that power we should be able to fire within a few minutes... The Ion Cannons have just reported and announce that they are fully operationnal."

Merick felt glad that he had asked technicians to improve shields. Not many ships would survive such an Assault.

"Where is the Vengeance?"

The lieutenant checked another monitor.

"He is chasing our support crafts. They are pulling him away from us... But it ould appear that his support crafts are going to intercept us."

"All power to shields and weaponry. Call back a few fregates to assist us. What is the size of his support force?"

"three VSDs Sir."

"Firing range in 30 seconds" announced a bridge officer.

Just as the Vsds startedfiring on the Chronicle three Mon Calamari Cruisers exited hyperspace right bahind the Imperial destroyers. All there Turbolasers pened fire on the engines of the VSDs.

A holographic representation of Admiral Helos appeared.

"Hello Ioor. I am leading part of the Sullust reinforcements. We are to assist you until the rêst of the ships arrive."

"Well have fun Admiral." said Merick with a large smile on his face.

Dally watched as the TIE he was chasing dogedged his blasted, and darted out of his line of sight. he sighed, and began a slow turn to find some new targets. He saw a squadron of TIEs heading back to the Chimaera, but he decided noy to give chase. It wasnt worth the effort. He checked his scanners, and noticed that his group was scattered quite badly. Some of them had gone off to attack a carrack cruiser with a group of rebel starfighters, and some were still blasting away at the Chimaera, hopeing to get through those shields. He cursed, knowing that no one in his group had the firepower anymore to get through them. He did have a trick up his sleave yet, but he wasnt quite ready to use it. He needed a way to get through those sheilds first.

As he sat there and pondered this, his ship rocked with an impact, and he cursed violently. He watched as a TIE passed his ship, and flew directly in front of him. He blasted it with his cannons, and then shook his head. These pilots really werent worth much. He looked to his scanners again, and sighed. He had to think of a new tactic, and he had to come up with one fast. Or his group was just going to scatter more, and get itself killed. he turned his comm system back to his group channel, and ordered them all to form up immediatly. He didnt get many responces, but he saw a number of freightors heading back towards hiim, along with some fighters. Apparently he had picked up some more recruits during the fight. He chortled, and spoke to them again.

"Alright everyone, listen up, i need missle and torpedo countas from everyone, do we have any left at all?" he asked, hoping to get a positive responce from someone. He cursed when the only responce he got was about a single missile in an aft launch tube. That didnt do him any good. After a moment, he sighed, and spoke to them again.

"Ok, here is the plan. I have one last trick up my sleave to deal with that destroyer, but I dont know if it will work. We are going to come up on the aft of the destroyer again, but this time, we are going to go around the side of the command dome. I need you guys to cover me, im going to be pulling a rather stupid stunt. you guys understand?" he asked, and he got a few responces, plus one out of place belch. He sighed, and turned his ship and flew far behind the Chimaera. Once he got there, he reached over and flipped off his transponder switch, making it so the Destroyer would be able to pinpoint which ship was his immediatly.

As they began to fly towards the Chimaera, he reached over, and flipped a switch, preparing his ports escape pod for jettison. Normally, an escape pod wouldnt be worth a whole lot damage wise, but he had had his port pod filled with a mixture of fuel and explosives while he was waiting for permission to launch, turning into a large, slow moving, highpowered bomb. The technicians that had helped his told him that there was enough power in it to put it on par with a least 6 torpedoes exploding at once. He just hoped they were right. As the freightors got closer, and started to round the cammand tower, and pair Of ties flashed past, and were detonated by the other freightors covering him. He smiled as he saw the path to the bridge was clear. He gunned his engine, and waited for the right moment to launch his makeshift bomb.

As he appraoched the bridge, he hit the button, launching the bomb. But before he could check his sensors to see if he managed a hit on the bridge, he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He swore, and looked down to see his astromech poking him with a needle of some sort. He reached for his blaster quickly, and promptly shot the litte droid, sending it flying backwards, away from him. He threw the blaster on the ground, and cursed as his vision slowly began to blur. He quickly slapped his weapon energy into his sheilds, Aimed for deep space, and got out of his seat, and began to stumble his way back to his medical supplies.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Three TIEs were flying in formation... "DIE!" Ray said as he blasted the middle TIE, the wings of the Middle flew of and collided with the two others.

"Bang, what the, ahh SHOOT. Lost My third Laser" A piece of the Second TIE Clipped his lower right wing.

"WWWWAAAAOOOOO" R7 Screamed.

A TIE was on his Tale, Ray just grinned... Then did a Snap roll to the Right, Turned on the Reverse Thrust, Ray X-wing shot back, Then did another Snap roll , only to the Left this time. He came out of the Snap roll blasting his lasers Shredding the TIE. "Chalk up another one!" Ray Said.

"Now back to Star Destroyer!" Ray turned right and Shot straight towards the Judicator "BEEP BEEP BEEP" The Torpedo alert turn on, Ray looked down at the it. "NO, No, no." Ray said as he made a slight adjustment to the course, to a VSD, then shot one laser at the torpedo bay of the VSD, the Laser hit the Missile as it was coming out of the bay, Destroying it, damaging the Bay. "Bulls Eye!" Ray said.

The arrival of the Mon Calamari cruisers was a great help. With more ships on the way, they'd be able to hold off the Imperials until the rest of the fleet arrived. However, Evan had problems of his own. Although most of the Imperial TIE force had been smashed into space debris, another wave had arrived and was causing problems.

Suddenly, a TIE scored a direct hit on Evan. His X-wing spun wildly out of control. At that moment, he thought about giving up. The TIE closed in for the kill and the craft refused to stop its out of control spinning. Behind that TIE were more. Looking around, he noticed he had been seperated from the rest of the Rebels. Is this how it ends?

But it was not to be. His destiny had yet to be fufilled. The craft stopped spinning and Evan instantly fired, blowing the TIE to pieces. More dived upon him, but Evan met them all to eagerly. He manuvered wildly, juking and jinking. In between his manuvers he fired. Sometimes he destroyed a TIE, others he merely scared one away. Evan knew they would not kill him, his time had not come.

He continued fooling with the TIE pilots for a little while. At last, his X-wing pilots had a moment of free time and came to save him. Seeing even more X-wings arrive, the remaining TIEs quickly retreated, but now Evan outnumbered them. He had no intention of letting them escape. He moved to pursue.

The Rebels seemed to have gained the uper hand in the Fighter battle.

Kirk Macmillan sat hunched in the cramped cockpit of the A-wing, his eyes down at the sensor display. The battle overhead was pitched, but his unit remained in reserve. Suddenly with a flash a new red contact appeared on the display. Kirk glanced at it and felt an icy fist grip his chest, "Evan, this is Baumer, you've got two squadrons of tie advanceds closing on your rear! Mark two vector one-seven-zero."

Kirk glanced out his side cockpit to see Lara waggle her A-wing, "Evan, when are we going to be released to engage?"

"Alright Commander Baumer, go for the TIE Advanceds on our tail."

Evan gritted his teeth, could one squadron of A-Wings possibly deal with two squadrons of TIE Advanceds? Nevertheless, he couldn't spare any of his X-wings. A few had been destroyed, and others had to be sent back for repairs. He currently had twenty-four X-wings with him, and he needed every one of them to deal with the regular TIEs.

He fired again and saw another TIE blow apart. There is more Imperial blood to be shed...

"Alright we've got the go, full throttle, arm concussion missiles," Kirk said as he twisted teh compact craft onto the Tie squadrons' course, "Watch out for your wingmen and your tails, these are the best they've got, we can be better."

"Roger, concussion missile's armed, five hundred kilometers and closing," Lara answered as she slid the A-wing gracefully into position beside Kirk's craft.

"This is five, two flight is ready to rumble."

"Three flight green and roarin."

Kirk settled in behind the tie squadron, "All flights activate sensor jamming." He smiled as the craft passed through detection range for the Tie's scanners. Not one of the fighters changed course. Slowly rolling behind the ties he flicked to concussion missiles and got a lock, "All flights, go to concussion missiles, fire on my mark."

The targeting recticle went from green to yellow, then to red, "Double lock! Fire in three, two, one, mark!"

From a dozen different craft a pair of brilliant red concussion missiles lanced out at the squadron of fighters. Within seconds they smashed into their targets burning them out of sky as the missiles pierced through to shields of the craft. Their pilots died without the slightest warning from their jammed sensor arrays. Instantly ten fighters dropped from the board (one fighter had been targeted by three of the A-wings). The two which remained looped around and froze as a volley of laser fire from a dozens different sources ripped apart their craft.

Ahead the lead squadron broke formation and turned toward their new foes, the field had been leveled, now the deadly game began anew.

OOC: Sorry for the late response BS...

IC:

The Core of the Rebel Formation lay open to him, behind him other Star Destroyers were steadily advancing, blasting Corvettes and Frigates as they continued onwards. The defensive sphere formation meant to contain the onslaught of the Imperial Fleet was broken. Even with the reinforcements that had arrived the Rebels had almost certainly lost the battle, with fresh TIEs taking over for the battle-worn ones they had regained much superiority against the rebel bombers and freighters, and the TIE Advanced squadrons had already engaged, despite their first loses at the hands of the A-Wings missiles they had engaged and confirmed the destruction of few new A-Wings and of several X-Wings.

Tarkin was only waiting for a mere signal, he would bring a dozen more Victory Destroyers and two Imperial Star Destroyer plus three more squadron of TIE Advanced, essentially most of their TIE Advanceds had been called for this battle.

Still Noreto could not call for Tarkin, not while a particular vessel hung in front of him, the only barrier that stood in the path of his vessel. Dodonn's command.

Noreto had no consideration for the Rebels, they were an annoyance that needed removal. But Dodonna had joined them, was there something else behind their cowardly tactics? They were nothing else than a pirate group with political ideals. Their were not revolutionaries, they were Rebels. Still Dodonna was ready to sacrifice his life for them, the life that the Empire wanted to take away from him.

The Empire. The Empire was not the Republic he had served truthfully, the Empire had been a service he had inherited, he had received condecorations for his service, but they seemed void now, without any real feeling behind them. He respected Dodonna more than the Emperor, he could not bring himself to attack him, and it was his ship the one that stood between the Empire and total victory.

"Relentless ask for confirmation of orders, Judicator asks for orders, Nemesis reports target destroyed, requesting orders." The officer asked, and Noreto knew not what to respond, he stood for two eternal minutes watching the battle rage in his holoprojector.

"Transmission incoming from Vengeance," the officer insisted louder this time.

Noreto removed himself to the transmission center and looked at one of the panels.

"Noreto here."

"Chimaera has lost its position, Relentless, Nemesis and Judicator have not received new orders, is everything under control, Admiral?"

"No sir, I am unable to continue my duties." Noreto said and his words felt heavy with frustration and confusion.

"The Empire will consider this as betrayal, remove yourself from command." Thrawn dictated and Noreto knew that his career had ended, the Emperor would trust Thrawn and Noreto would be sentenced to death.

But Noreto did not move from his position and returned with decision to his chair and started to give out orders. "Signal TIE Fighters to be-"

"Incoming!" A panicked officer said. By reflex Noreto turned to see, and could spot the shape of a Corellian Transport close to his ship, and knew it had to be Dally.

Trembling in anger he hit a button on his armrest, a signal that would activate the secondary programming coded into Dally's personal astromech. The droid would take out a needle with deadly poison, and the smuggler would meet his end.

A second passed and a white flash blinded him. A shockwave killed his hearing for a few heartbeats until panicked voices started to scream in unison. "Shields, tower section at 0 percent, we are losing hull integrity rapidly. Secondary Command Room in fire and venting atmosphere."

"All bridge personnel to the escape pods," Noreto ordered, "transfer control to the secondary bridge. Instruct Captain Deran to withdraw Chimeara from the front." The Admiral started to walk away.

Weak and confused the Admiral moved to his personal escape pod, he entered and jettisoned the pod.

Only in the cold space did he realize how everything had changed for him. Out here in the solitude of his escape pod could he comprehend the battle around him, only there did he understand Dodonna's actions. Only there did he come to the conclusion that he did not serve the Empire any longer, he only served the Galactic Republic and the Royal House of Alderaan.

Noreto knew that he would be reported as missing and had a chance to start again, and return to his homeworld.

Then something cut through his thoughts with devastating effects. He had been caught in a tractor beam. Outside there was only the distinct hull shape of a particular Corellian Transport.

His nemesis had come to kill him, and had decided that evaporation in space was not what he deserved. Noreto breathed and waited.

Finally the lock steadied and the pod was docked, with a hiss of air the airlock opened.

"Chimaera has lost its primaey bridge. She's running."

"Thank you, Lieutenant." Ackbar said. He sat in the command chair of the Liberty, an island of calm in an ocean of chaos. The battle outside raged on, and the Rebels had suffered terrible losses among the smaller ships. Their ability to fight back starfighters had been reduced to half, and the rebel fighters' numbers were being reduced every minute.

Again, an overwhelming number of TIEs spread out from the destroyers, their fuel tanks full, their equipment undamaged, their pilots fresh and alert, fighting damaged starfighters with tired pilots. This could not go well for long.

He looked at the holoscreen as once again Orange group dove into the incoming swarm, their lasers blazing and killing imperial fighters at an impressive rate. Among the red indicators winking out of existence green dot vanished in that cloud as well.

The bridge shook.

"Two VSDs are targeting us, sir." the captain said. This was it, then. the rebel formation had been broken, and now the command ship was under fire. No use standing back and hiding anymore. "Mon Cemara, Mon Nuricos, Diligent and Starchaser, move to engage those destroyers." Ackbar ordered. "Black Coral and Spearhead, stay with Liberty. We're going in."

The command cruiser, accompanied by the light cruiser and the frigate, moved towards the attackers, ahead were the two Calamari cruisers, one strike cruiser and one heavy frigate. They exchanged heavy turbolaser fire with the destroyers, who also had to fight with Dodonna's ship, which struggled to keep the starships away a few more minutes.

"This is acting-Admiral Ackbar to squadron leaders. Our capital ship formation has been compromised. Anti-starfighter vessels decimated. Blue and Orange squadrons, cover our backs. Any other group able to respond, now is the time."[/i]

Evan smiled noticing the Chimera had been taken out of the battle. Norteo was likely to be dead. With their command ship out of the battle, the Imperials were shaken up a bit. They continued to attack but it took them a few moments to fully regain the offensive. Those few minutes had been critical. The Rebel fleet had been able to recover and the main group of Rebel forces neared ever closer.

The TIE Advanceds had been a nuisance but the A-wings had dealt with them. With most of their torpedoes spent, the remaining Rebel fighters retreated to cover the Rebel capitol ships. Staying tightly together, the Rebel fleet had prevented the Imperials from moving to attack the shipyards. The golan platforms had also taken their toll, but now the Imperial's superiority was taking over. The Rebel fleet couldn't hang on for much longer.

Evan darted around, diving upon TIEs anytime he saw them. Even with their heavy casulties, the Rebel fighters managed to keep the TIEs off the Rebel capitol ships. Some Rebel fighters were already returning to capitol ships to refuel, rearm and even conduct minor repairs. The Imperials still had more fighters, but their bomber force needed to repair and refuel. Most of the TIE bombers had been picked off earlier.

Evan hoped that meant they'd keep their TIEs in reserve until they had a group of bombers which they could cover. It was a false hope. The masses of TIEs moved in for the kill, despite the casulties they took from the crossfire. The remaining Rebel fighters could only hold on for so long before the TIEs could do as they pleased and the bombers would then....

All hope was lost. He could not surrender, though. He led his fighters in and madly manuvered through the swarm of TIEs. The TIEs took a few casulties, but it was only a matter of time before they took control and wiped out the X-wings... Then there was a flash of light and several large ships winked into existance.

The rest of the Rebel fleet had arrived.

Merick watched the rebel reinforcements arrive. Two ISDs turned to face the new arrivals leaving there engines uncovered but they could quickly turn to facve attackers unless...

"How are our fuel reserves doing?" asked Merick into his comlink

"Not too bad sir. The fighters took some to refuel but our reserve is more than half full." answered the leader of the maintenance team.

"And the secondary reserves?"

"Full Sir."

Merick had an idea which may allow the Chronicle to seriously damage the ISDs's engines.

"Okay I want you to empty the fuel along the back of the ship and set it alight." Merick turned towards the pilot "Can you make the ship move like debris?"

The pilot smilled

"No problem Sir" answered the officer with a large smile.

The Chronicle slowly approached the back of the ISDs. The Flames emerging from the Chronicle gave a very good effect and Merick had ordered that all the lights be put out.

The Chronicle arrived in range. The ISDs were taking heavy fire from the rebel taskforce and were consetrating their shields at the front of the ship.

The Chronicle opened fire on the unprotected engine oif the destroyers with its turbolasers and Ion Cannons.

Dally mumbled to himself as he sat at the medical station in his ship. he couldnt belive that Noreto had sabotaged his droid. The droid had never done anything wrong. That, and it wasnt even his droid, which made him even angrier. He continued to mumble to himself as he slapped another bacta patch onto his arm, and then began to stumble back top the cockpit of his ship. His leg was going numb quickly, but he knew that he wouldnt need it once he was in the cockpit again.

As he got back to the cockpit, his vision was clearing, but the feeling in his leg was almost gone entirely. He put his headset back on, and took his ship off of auto pilot. He turned the ship around, to see that Noretos group of ships was trying to re-form themselves, and he noted that the Chimaera was no longer in the battle, but heading to find an exit vector. He noted happily that the command tower of the ship was in flames, and hoped that Noreto had died with his bridge.

As Dally got closer to the battle, his comm unit started to beep at him. He had never heard it make that noise before, so he tapped a few buttons, and cursed to himself. There were escape pods out in space, one one of them was near him. And to make things better, they were Imperial. He guessed one of the imperial ships had been destroyed while he was away, and that the crew had managed to abandon ship. After studying the pos quickly, he realized that it was a command pos, not a normal escape pod. It held a high ranking officer, not some petty crew member. he thought about this for a moment, and sighed. he hated to do this, but he felt he needed to pick up the escape pod.

He brought his ship up close to it, and extended his docking tube to the pod. he brought the pod closer to the ship, and when he felt the pod calnk up against the ship, he reached over to a small compartment next to his seat, and grapped a small tube from it. He raised the tupe up, and hit a button on it. The tube extended, and he smiled. He knew that this cane would come in handy eventually. He stopped the ship completly, and slowly stood up, using the cane to support his bad leg. He hobbled his way to to the back of the ship, and removed the blaster from his holster.

When he got to the hatch, he raised the blaster at the door, in case whoever was in there was overly aggressive. He hit the button to open the hatch, and looked to see who was inside. When he saw the man sitting in there, he cursed loudly, and pulled the trigger on his blaster. Noreto dodged the blast, and lept out of the escape pod, knocking Dally off of his feet. Dally hit the bulkhead, and his head rebounded, stars exploding in front of his eyes. He fell to the ground, and Noreto moved quickly to reach down and snag the blaster out of his hand. He stoob back up, and turned the blaster to point it at Dally. He aimed it at his head, and smiled.

"You have been a thorn in my side Dally, for far to long. And now, it is time to deal with you." he said, his voice almost dripping with anticipation. Suddenly, the ship rocked as it was struck by laser fire, Noreto dropped to the ground, losing the blaster as he did so. As he hit the deck of the ship, the familiar sound of TIEs could be heard from outside the ship. Noreto looked to where the balset had fallen to, and he did not see it. He then began to stand again, just to be nocked back to his feet as lasers impacted the ship again. He cursed and began to half stumble, half run to the cockpit, leaving Dally in the passegway of the ship.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

OOC: And here I though no one was posting here. Now I'm behind!

IC: The Vengeance and her taskforce had moved into position around the shipyards, but were being engaged by the rebel fleets arriving from the poles. This was of little hinderance to the primary objective. The shipyards were not to be destroyed.

"Captain Chiraneau, deploy all remaining fighters and order them to engage all enemy vessels. Also have hte Victory Star Destroyers form a defencive line with the Judicator and Tyrant above and below the central position on that line."

The captain gave no argument, his only response a nod. the ships outside began moving into position, forming a perfect line that effecivley halted any movement. The rebel fleets, who had been pushing towards the Star Destroyers in an attempt to push them away from the shipyards began to turn. moving to put some ground between them and the wall of Star Destroyers.

Thrawn reached down an pressed a sequence of keys on the command chair, a soft chime indicating that the message had been recieved from the other end. From the bayd of the Victory Star Destroyers above, the small shapes of utility tugs could be seen, too mall to be targets for the larger weapons of the capitol ships, and too far away for the rebel fighters to engage them.

The tugs descended upon the three ship yards, four to each. Two maneuvered along the aft, attaching detachable hyper-frives, the other two moving into position at the front, anchoring tow cable to the superstructure and beginning to gain momentum.

As the aft tugs joined those in the front, the shipyards began to accelerate away from the planet, making for open space.

"Begin pulling the fleet away from the planet. Inform the Chimaera that she can withdraw her taskforce from the engagement at her leisure. There is nothing more to be done here."

There was a brief flash from the retreating shipyards, and then only empty space. This would be a major setback for the rebels. With the newly build battle-station under the command of Grand Moff Tarkin, there would be little hope for the rebellion. Only a miracle could save them.

"Have the fleet move away. They are to rendevous at Carida before proceeding to Bilbringi where our catch can be dealt with. The Judicator is to head for Coruscant. There is a formal function I am to attend there."

OOC:A fitting end I think. Sure, we won, but you get to destroy the Death Star. The rebels can continue. Maybe they can find some good in this...

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

OOC: I'm gonna end my Noreto-part here, I'll loan BS's, and Darky's char for a few phrases or actions.

He was not a brawler yet he had taken down a dangerous smuggler, he was not a pilot but he would not hesitate to take control of the vessel.

Darac Noreto took a seat in the cockpit of the ship and allowed himself a few seconds to understand the layout of the controls. Communications and sensors on the left, stick and weapons in front, nav-computer on the right, along with energy controls.

He took the stick and manuevered to evade the TIEs with some success, he knew that the freighter that had driven Chimaera off the battle must be a hot target. He reinforced shields, thus reducing the energy output for weapons. He pressed a button coded to the Rebel frequencies and checked the assigned codename. With slight effort he modulated his voice to sound much like Dally's. Obviously human, smug and arrogant.

"This is Junk Leader, I have TIEs all over me. They probably didn't like me blowing their flag." Noreto said hoping to fool the Rebels.

"Rechtmann here, congrats on that kill, we are coming." The man said. And Noreto smiled at the irony of the situation, the greatest Rebel pilot forced to save the Imperial Admiral. The man, which rumors suggested had a personal vendetta with the Admiral.

Still smiling the Admiral continued to evade, waiting for the Rebel fighters to arrive and started to plot a hyperjump. He had now a familiar understanding of the controls, and even found an interesting gadget that he could use.

He heard a few noises in the back but knew he could not leave his position to check for Dally, by now the poison would have numbed his legs and arms. Dally at best would be unconscious. Even if Dally was alive he would be in no position to fly the ship. So Noreto was still safe.

Noreto continued to draw away from the furball.

"Avenge Naritus," Rechtmann voice exploded in the cockpit, as his X-Wings started to shred the TIEs behind him. The name echoed in Noreto's head, the small world of Naritus that he had been forced to subdue, shortly after the Emperor's crowning. An assignment nor he nor Dodonna had agreed, nor considered moral, but had to be done, it had resulted in a complete annihilation. A son of Naritus. Rechtmann's vengeance was justified, but Noreto had no time to worry about the moral issue behind the battle.

A hiss was heard and a new blip materialized in the sensor board. His escape pod had been launched, a human lifeform on board. Dally had escaped, he had dragged himself to the escape pod, knowing perhaps that it may be safer to risk his life in an escape pod rather than sticking with the Admiral in the freighter.

"Your tail is clear, Bad Samaritan, will you regroup?" Rechtmann asked. A light ignited on his board: hyperjump plotted, ready to execute. "Bad Samaritan what is that escape pod, another bomb?" There was a nervous hint in Rechtmann's voice, fear and suspicion.

"I thank you for your assistance, General. Inside the pod you will find the smuggler, finally you have killed me there is no Empire for me, what your lasers could not do your fierceness did. You have avenged the death of Naritus. Noreto out."

With the nudge of his left thumb he shut the communication off and with his right hand he activated the aft thermal detonator launcher. He launched all the objects at once. The Detonators exploded igniting some frozen hydrogen. A flash of light momentarily had blinded all sensors, his and the Rebels, but Noreto did not need them, he lowered a small lever.

Noreto had entered hyperspace.

In hyperspace with the revolving shapes as his solitary company, the Admiral -no, former-Admiral- started to plot a new course for his life. A Life without Imperials or Rebels, without immoral orders, and personal vendettas. A simple life, a family maybe. A son, a small home in Alderaan.

Soft tunes provided by Dally's wide selection of music resounded in the cockpit as the Bad Samaritan moved through hyperspace.

OOC: Finished my Noreto part of the story. Battle's left for you guys.

OOC: It is over finished...anyone up for Rapora Wars? (That insanely long battle is nearly over, so feel free to jump in.

IC:"All units report status!" Kirk Baumer yelled as another A-wing disappeared from a turbolaser blast.

"Two" Lara breathed, her voice pained. Kirk glanced over to see her A-wing trailing sparks from a glancing impact from a piece of the A-wing.

"Four."

"Eight."

"Thats it, sith, all units emergency hyperspace jump, vector two one seven mark four," Kirk ordered keying in the coordinates. With a pull of the hyperspace levers the last doubts of his loyalty to the alliance faded away, he was a rebel and would stay one, until the empire fell or he'd die trying.
