Post your new models here

Yesterday I tried out a model and it was surprisingly easy to convert, working on the first run, so I decided to post it already today. The model is the Mc80, or better known as the Home one. I posted it to the download section of swr. If you need screenshots to decide if it's worth downloading  , you can go to my page as well (link's below in my profile).

The color is of course this most popular this autumn: starship grey :D

Btw, I started working on the Eclipse. The encyclopedia at Moseisley.com and other sources state it as 17.5 km, or twice as long as an SSD. Would this be realistic ? I tried out one, that was barely bigger than an SSD and it already had an impressive size. I think the double size would fill the tactical view in no time, if you had about 5 or 6 of them in a fleet.

Also I had to make it sort of dark-grey. Cause the stylish black lead to the problem, that you couldn't see the model, except before a planet. Although this could be a tactical advantage :D

What do you think :?:

Hey Mask, I can't wait to see your model. I see your point about filling up the tactical screen. I often build fleets with 20-30 SSD, with assotiated escort ships. It gets crowded in that cube. (makes me think of a cage match in wrestling...)

Anyway, it would be nice if it was maybe 1.25 or 1.5 times bigger than the SSD. We could always assume a high cost in refined materials and maintanance so that we don't have too many.

Also, is it possible to limit the number of these? I think the game limits Death Stars to 1 at any given time...

You can build an Eclipse SSD.. but why? It won't even have the superlaser.

Anyways, I hope it's longer than your SSD model.

Yeah, I've read a lot about that as well. Seems like the first ships of the SSD class (Executor and Lusankya) were 8km and the later ones were as long as the Eclipse. Well, I guess 1.5 times the SSD's size would be a good compromise.

glandry you can have more than one ds but not in the same planet, or system whatever the planets represent

Ok, after not really having a weekend I'm a bit late with preview screens of the Eclipse.

Those labeled too_dark were my first try, when you could only see the Eclipse in front of a planet.

Those with how_about_that are my suggestion to you, tell me, if you think if the color's too bright.

As i understand it every SSD was more or less unique. Sources vary in terms of length, but i always figured an SSD to be half the size of and ESSD. For the purposes of the game i'd go for 1.5 times.

The pics look good, could you get some with an SSD for comparison, and how hard is it to add a few lights and stuff? If its hard then don't worry, but i think it would make a difference.

Thanx for the praises, btw. Igor you can call me Mask

I had drive flares in an earlier version that got destroyed, but they'll be on the new one as well. As for the color, I kept closely to the Eclipse from the Dark Empire comics, not much color on the original. The Eclipse 1 (Dark Empire 1) had a red square in the front and the drives looked different, the E2 didn't have the reddish squarish thing, but that was all the color it had.

Were do you want the color ? I could try and shade the command module in a different way and some of the upper hull plates.

Yep, that sounds good to me. Though you could subtley change the shader on the hull plates, as it steps up towards the bridge, just v.subtley different shades of grey to draw out the shape a bit more?

Well that depends on the settings of the ESSD doesn't it?

If you want to be true to various SW sources, i'd say 10, as long as none of them get in it's forward arc. However, if you're playing Rebellion with no changes to the Bulwarks capabilities and price, i'd say you want to set it so that a squad of 6 Bulkwarks can take out an ESSD, so you need to adjust the settings on the ESSD.

But. If you still want it to be realistic, if its six againist one, you should be looking to lose probably four of your Bulwarks. Remembers, and ESSD is supposed to be able to ram other ships because it's shields are so strong.

It's really down to personal preference.

the total Eclipse from Kuaaaat..... sing along everybody :D

So you wanna have the Eclipse SSD ? Well, I just added it to the Downloads-section. If you can't wait  , use this link : http://members.xoom.it/d_kelley/rebellion/models/eclipse_ssd.zip

And while I was at it, I put a second model in there as well: a Golan 3 battle station.

Now you can have a unit really designed for defending planets, instead of using a ship that gets wiped out by a little raiding party of the AI. http://members.xoom.it/d_kelley/rebellion/models/Golan_III.zip

Why it's kinda blue ? Well I used the XWA model for this and I used the original color from the screenshot I made from the models there

Suggestions for the card settings are included and to be fair, you should make this available to both sides.

The usual screenshots will be on in the next days, have fun !

Um, when i downloaded some models from the download section the other day, i made sure to get the instruction download with it too, but when i unzipped it onto my computer, it told me that it couldn't open the file, something about it being corrupted or some such problem. There was no virus or anything, but i couldn't open it. So how do i put new models into the game???

I just added my latest finished model: the Imperial Stardestroyer. I used the model from xwa and added different colors to several parts of it to create a sort of shading effect.

I originally wanted to release this sooner, but the 3 other models I tried, didn't look that good, when converted. So I dumped everything and started all over again :D

Screens as usual on my page. The screens for the Eclipse and the Golan 3 have been added as well 8)

Mask...those models look incredible! Fantastic job!

What are you substituting the Golan for? Does it matter if you substitute something small (like an Assault Transport) with a large model (like the Golan)? Does it react strangely? Just wondering...

BTW, do the lasers come out of the "appropriate" spots or do they "fire" from inside the model or outside the model?
