How do I get my original model back?

So I'm tweaking things in my Rebellion game, and using the importer I accidently replaced the star galleon 3D model with a model of a lancer, when I meant to replace the normal galleon with the lancer.

How do I get my OEM star galleon model back?

Sorry, if this question's been answered already.

You may need to do a full DLL restore using RebED

Oh man, don't say that. If I did that, wouldn't it undo everything I've edited in Rebed (characters, fighters, etc.)? Or does the restore button in the capital ships section only restore the capital ships to their original cards, and nothing else?

Right, RebED was not designed with models in-mind. You could try also extracting models from the original DLLs on the Rebellion disk, but I don't know if that will work. :)

Load Rebellion on another computer, copy off the original models in question, and replace back into the first computer.

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

Well that's a great idea! Now the million dollar question. Which .DLL files do I replace? I found the files labeled "STRGAL.BMP" and "STRGAL_m.BMP". But it's the .X and .BIN files I need to restore, correct? Where are these located exactly?

Files from this website. It shows how models are added and exchanged. Using Resource Hacker, you should be able to put things back in. It gives the locations of the DLL and folders of what ships .X and .bin are at.

That is the two tutorials made by someone here from the past.

Tactical.dll :file

Resource Hacker :tool

2590 Galleon :folder

You get two files, one is the mesh info .x and the bin, which is like the skin texture stored as binary instead of the more modern today use of picture formats ---I think. :?

Oh, the bin is converted over from the bmp file using a tool. But that is not what your asking I think.

I think to restore, simple extract that resource file inside 2590 and replace the one in your custom folder inside tacticial.dll. And you may have to extract and copy over the Galleon near and far data BMP skin."STRGAL.BMP" and "STRGAL_m.BMP".

*does a brief Kosh appearance*

... yes ...

Read the stuff, we pioneers wrote back then. All you need to know, is there.

Hm ? Alright, models and textures are stored in the Tactical.dll. Your original on the CD still holds the original models
