Well, I'm working on donig two things with the model before I link it anywhere - first is put it in a RMD file, to make it easier to extract and the other is to secure somewhere to upload it. I've got some webspace, so I'll try uploading it there.

If you can't wait Toguro, PM me with you email address and I'll send you the model

Dude, that's one of the best models ever created for Rebellion so far, so keep up the work! This thing will reach atleast 2000 downloads if uploaded :)

Wow, digging up an old thread - here's some news.

I've made the Defender class Assualt Carrier, which is based on the Majestic with some items released and two fighter towers added. Well, truth be told I made it a long while back though had simply forgotten to upload it. And now I'm having problems uploading it - so touch wood and I'll be able to up load it soon. Perhaps, I'll try my hand at fixing it up a little more before I upload it.

Now, to completely undermind that small event. I've always felt that the design of the Majestic, and my model, made it look weak. After all, it's meant to have the same armour and shielding as the ISD, yet looks like a an old, out of date cruiser that could get snapped in half if someone where to fart inside of it.
So, I've decided to remake the Majestic with a newer design based on the old one.
Some of the basic cosmetic differences are a smoother hull continuous hull, reminiscent of the DSD. A better bridge. A dual exit hangar. And two engine bays rather than the one.

I never did read too many of those New Republic-era novels, so when I saw the Majestic, I thought "hey that looks pretty weak. I'll replace the dreadnaught with it." You said that the Defender Assault Carrier is a meaner version of it? Is it much bigger? If so, I think I'll use it, since the DAS is an upgrade of the Majestic much like the Assault Frigate is an upgrade of the dreadnaught.

I know I'm screwing all SW continuity here, but my TC isnt Star Wars based anyway, so its okay.

Unfortunately, the DAC is basically a stripped out version of a Majestic with an additional fighter squadron and basically little to no offensive weapons. It was meant to be one of the main fighter carrier for the Republic, so it's got better shielding than the Majestic, though only a handful of defensive lasers. That being said, it would be very cheap, and a replacement for the Escort Carrier in Rebellion.

A little history

The New Republic's navy was based around fighter's and their carriers. The carriers would stay away from the battle, while being escorted by small suport vessels as well as the occational larger warships, and allow the NR's superior fighters and bombers to attack the enemy. This strategy seemed to change after the Black Fleet incedent, where they decided it was best to merge that stategy with utilising larger warships to take the fight to the enemy at the same time (Such as the current Majestic, RSD, MC90 and fututre DSD).
A carrier group would probably consist of a variety of carriers, with something like the Defender taking point due to it's powerful shields, manouvrebility and speed (which appears to be why it's called an Assault Carrier as opposed to a normal carrier. Because, it definetely has nothing to do with it's weapons  ).
It's name also implies, that it can be or was intended for assaulting planets, enemy formations etc., allowing it's increased shielding to take full effect. I could picture a few dropping out of hyperspace under a barrage of fire while deploying fighter squadrons to rip appart some Imperials. And as the Republic would generally take the defensive stance in a conflict, this gave them a carrier that had a mission role intended for counter-attacks or pre-emptive strikes.
But, in the end - it's still a carrier and has little need for offensive firepower when it's primary role is to house fighters. That's why it's armed with only 20 Laser Cannons (I personally also keep the 8 Assault Concussion missiles from the Majestic).

The Majestic on the other hand was meant to be the gaurdian of these carrier groups, or take the fight to the enemy. 20 ion cannons, 20 laser cannons, 30 heavy turbolasers (that apparently significantly outrange an ISDs guns) and 8 Assault Concussion Missiles make up it's impressive weaponary - and as mentioned before it's armour and shielding matches that of an ISDs. Confusingly, the Majestic carries 5 fighters squadrons, making it far better than a DAC - though more expensive to build and maintain. Not to mention that both warships take completely different roles.

Also something of note, though not of much point in Rebellion, is that the NR would load the carriers and larger warships with better fighters like E-Wings, A-Wing, X-Wings, B-Wings and K-Wings for attacking. The smaller escorting vessels, such as a Sacheen light cruiser, would carry highly manouvrable, close range Defender starfighters (What? A 3rd New Republic unit with the name defender! And all from the Cracken Threat Dossier, what great thinking  ) and X-Wings that would stay with the fleet to help gaurd it.

Oh! Um, wow! The newer (as yet) un-textured version looks I dunno, befiting it's namesake. It's Majestic looking!

I never commented on the older one because I figured anything I would say wouldn't be either polite or constructive. So I just didn't say anything.

But the new one is looking awesome! :D

(btw Krytos, MSN isn't letting me download the Models you e-mailed to me for some reason. :( I've been trying to get at them for about a week or more now. Stupid Microsoft. :? )
EDIT: It Finally let me download the models you sent me! Yay! I'm testing them out today.

I like the first model, and the second model even more. Both are great!

Thanks all, I'm glad that my first model is still liked :D
Though, I have to agree with D16. I never found the Majestic to be that attractive let alone Majestic. So, I was hoping my new version made it look better. Though only thing that doesn't seem to flow as well anymore is the nose.
That being said, the old version has grown on me and I'm tempted to use it as something else . . . not sure what though
For now I'll just leave it alone and work on the newer version.

Weird :? Good to hear that it works now. I have a bad feeling that where I've been uploading my models isn't working anymore :? Two days in a row with no responce :(

While I wait to see how people want their new textures (sunny side up or scrambled  ), I'm working on the textures for the new Majestic. So far it's very white . . . and reminiscent of the DSD, which means I've got some consistancy going. Without any of my usual luck, I should be able to complete the textures soon. After making a few models and textures, I've figured out some ways to make them and then apply them - so, here's hoping this Majestic doesn't suffer the fate of the old. Taking a damn long time to complete!

Also, speaking of that curse . . . I just realised I hadn't uploaded the old DAC I made. Well, I'll rectifiy that now and put the old Majestic model to rest.

Wow, my first tripple post (I don't think that's a good thing though  ). Well, this is probably one of my fastest textures so far. Two days, and I've got the basics done for the Majestic and 90% of the DAC done. All that is needed for the Majestic is some coloured stripes here and there to "pretty" her up while she's cruising through space
And the DAC needs to have proper textures for the two new control towers.

Majestic completely textued - textures need revising:

NOTES: I dropped lights into the hangar so they could be seen better. Rebellion is yet to make the bright blues (hangars and engines) I use stand out unfortunately

DAC 90% complete textures - textures need revising:

NOTES: The differences between the two ships physically, is the addition of the two control towers and the removal of smal details like the underside and wing objects
