lol I just had a crazy idea...what if EJ's Secret Project was a Star Wars mod for Supreme Commander? Imagine the possibilities...

Wow, it really is amazing how quiet it has become here.  However, I'm convinced that this forum will be coming back to life within the next 12 months.

Keep in mind that while Homeworld 2's engine limitations have always caused problems for the Warlords mod, it simply isn't the only realistic choice in town anymore.  In fact, indications are starting to look good that the real show is only about to start.

As long as EvilleJedi (and crew) remain healthy (insert positive thoughts here) and the already completed models don't somehow magically disappear from existence, than the future of Warlords looks bright indeed.

well theres the good chance i think of them moving to sins of a solar empire when it comes out. seeing as they probably have good enugh pc's however im not sure if i can fallow. but with hope i might be able to run it.  but i think the jump to sins is the most likely secret project and seeing as the beta is avalable for preorderers its likely the work could have already started.

IIRC Sins allows for seamless transitions from space to a planet's surface.  MMmmm, orbital bombardment and planetary shields.

Sins of a Solar Empire does orbital bombardments, invasions/colonization and planetary shields.  It also covers ion canons, hyperspace inhibitors, area of effect damage, strike craft, various classes/sizes of ships, automated merchant/resource ships, space based stations, and so on.  Planets/asteroids & stars are huge real in-game 3D models (can be made as large as you want).  A Star Wars Galaxy map with all the major stars and systems can be made.  The game is easily modded, so things like target type, weapon type, accuracy vs target type, and so on can all be modded (similar in many ways to the .ship files from Homeworld 2).

I can go on and on how this game is perfect for Warlords, but I don't have all day (I'm at work). 

For those of you who want some basic info on Sins of a Solar Empire, it is a real time space empire building game that is also about tactical combat (think Galactic Civ II + Homeworld).  What is really cool is it does it all this on the same map.  The map uses a clever zoom function which enables to cover an entire galaxy  In fact, it is shapping up to be the perfect game engine for Warlords.

All the game action occurs around planetary/asteroid/star gravity wells (like Star Wars).  Nothing really happens out in the dead space between gravity wells.  Also like Star Wars, ships can't jump into hyperspace until they get far enough away from gravity wells.

It should be released early next year.


Oh, if you are wondering how I know all this, I'm a SoaSE beta tester.
