Ship Damage Control Rating

Short and simple question...

Is a higher rating better?

Playing with some ideas for a personal TC, and going to have a pair of 'compeating' ship designs.

Two shipyards are asked to build a new cruiser design. One goes for a heavy duty 'slugger; style. Can stand in combat for a long time, heavy sheilds and armor, but slow to repair after the battle.

The other goes for a 'strike' vessel, weaker shields and armor, but lots of weapons to deliver a punishing blow. Also designed for quick repair after the battle to get the ship back in action.

I figure that with Shield and Weapon Recharge rates, higher is better and just wondering if damage control works the same way.

*whipes the dust off the topic* So did anyone ever figure that out? especially the weapon recharge... :?

damage control, higher is better. very early era ships have around 10, while something like moncal cruiser is highest with 50(in default settings)

same with weapon recharge. (lower is slower), early era is 6-8range and ISD mk II is 80(i think).
