Releasing a mod of Rebellion Reloaded?

I've been working for a while on a mod that does several things to Rebellion Reloaded. Primarily, it adds encylopedia entries to all of the worlds and corrects the name issues with the planets, but it does several other things as well. I consider it an accuracy mod, and I've done a few things to match up with making it as accurate as possible. I also did some balance work. It really is too much to describe here, but I'll try and list

 

Added encyclopedia entries to all the planets,

Did numerous corrections for both balance and realism to ship/facility/defensive stats, costs, etc

Did some exe editing to correct some strings. Jourus C'Boath no longer has a seat of power on "Coruscant" for example, but actually Wayland.

Did some editing of stratedgy.dll and other files so that the objective screen now shows Wayland and all the new photos.

Did (poor) voice acting for the NR and missing empire lines. All lines are now complete. They are pretty poor quality IMO, but better than 3P0. The installer I am building now (primarily a file patcher that would require you to have Rebellion Refreshed and Reloaded Ultimate installed to work) would allow the new voice lines by me to be optional.

 

That's all I can think of now, though I'm sure there is more...

 

Oh yeah, I killed the advisor briefings (this will also be made optional somehow).

 

So basically, I need permission to release it. As I said, no actual files will be released, only patch files so I think the release is perfectly legal to distribute online. Can I do this. or would the Rebellion Reloaded team object in some way? Please do let me know.

Hello, i also like a bit the RELOADED...so i've remade many of the original character's pictures to looking more good.

If u want i can provide them, when i will be done with all characters.

Look this forum, i've posted 3-4 little pictures, save them and replace in Rebed the new ones with the old ones.

It mainly depends on if I get the permission from the reloaded team, I modified some of their content. Mostly just descriptions, but still I want to do things right.

 

I'm still balancing to be honest. It is very hard to get a feel for what is a fair game. But mostly I'm basing it on the x-wing alliance interpetation of starfighter combat (another of my favorite games ;) ) That is, imperial SDs are generally inferior to their mon calamari equivalants in space combat, but are better at bombardment (they have weaker shields in space combat in particular). I also adjusted some costs, made the Eclipse cost more, the system patrol craft not take so long to build... I can't remember everything but it's pretty accurate if you are going by X-Wing Alliances interpretation of space combat, which I found to be the most accurate in a video game. Others may disagree with me, but they can easily change the values back with rebedit if it bothers them.

 

I also just fixed the Golan III Defense Platform bug, they can no longer move or jump into hyperspace.

 

Unfortunately, the ship thing I am still working on. It's very hard to figure out how the game spawns starting fleets/ships. Maybe in another release, but nothing for this first one (I'll probably call it "beta")

Okey, try to adjust all ship things...

To be honest, i've also experimented with the ship's stats, especially with the Sovereign and Eclipse.

More accurately with their superlaser in the bow.

You can try it at any ship if u want, so set the front turbolasers at 21000 and give a - lets tell - 70 recharge at weapons.

If i remember well u need 30 seconds (21000/70) to can shoot, but will destroy probably any ships, and nearly can destroy a Golan III.

We can raise to 24000/80 recharge, then even a Golan will not be a problem :D

 

About spawning the ships : in my TC i've set nearly all sectors to be important, then i think that we receiving many ships...try it.

 

Try my pictures too, to see the difference ;)

I'll try both those things and see the results tomorrow. I'm finishing up for the night here but will let you know how it goes in the morning.

 

I'll probably just release it in a week and see what happens. It's going to take about 1 week to finish anyhow, I want to get everything just right.

Actually, one last thing. I probably won't read this until morning, but I could use some clarification.

 

For the eclipse, are you saying it doesn't destroy ships with one superlaser hit by default? It should... At least I think so. Were you trying to make it a normal slot ship in game? Because I could try that, but wouldn't I need a model? And then, wouldn't it's planet destroying ability be ruined?

Actually, one last thing. I probably won't read this until morning, but I could use some clarification.

 

---- As it is set in the Reloaded, that the Eclipse is in the Death Star slot is 1001% that could destroy anything :)

But i am talking about, if u set the front turbolasers of an ISD lets tell to 21000 power with 70 weapon recharge value.

Now u understand ? Simply write 21000 in place of the 200 or 250 frontal laser of the ISD, and set the recharge rate to 70 with the Rebed.

Send your ship with some other ships into a place where do u know that a bigger fleet awaits u. If u have luck they will not retreat, and if they attack your ships u will have luck to not annihilate your superlasered ship ( set the shield and its recharge to a very high ammount to can see how destroying your ISD with a single shot a selected ship) In the original game we will set lower shields --> as many as have such an Sovereign and Eclipse class ship.

----- Yes, this is about i am talking --> we place the eclipse in a normal slot(we set the forward weapon to 25-30000 with 100 recharge or something...). If i remember, we have the Sovereign and the Eclipse model, MASK made them. The planet destroying ability will not work with the slot the Eclipse in, but we can leave the Death Star to have in the game, or DS II or we can create a Death Star 3 :)

I don't know if I could fit additional ships into the game... that would mean I'd have to cut something out and I really don't like that idea.... So that probably won't happen in my first release. I just don't like the idea of loosing the planet destroying ability of the eclipse either, to be honest. I'll look into it, but no promises. I pretty much won't do it if I can't find a way to plug in another DeathStar or something. That doesn't mean I won't let other people mod my mod though, and maybe they could do it. :)

Well, i think that you can take out the Galleon, me personally i never use it in the Reloaded...in the original game only sometimes...

So you put the Eclispe in the Galleons place (u must change the galleons model to the eclipse model of course) and put back the Death Star in his original place... Or u sholud leave the Eclipse in the place of the DS. As u wish :)

 

Anyway, if i will do my Super TC once, will have the Sovereign and Eclipse too, and the Death Star 2 too in that game.

I might take out the Galleon now that you mention it, it isn't really much of a military ship anyhow, and is mostly useless. The only real thing that still bothers me is that there really isn't a way to make the eclipse have a consistent "beam" when it fires, it might look a bit odd. But that'd be a small price to pay really.

 

Where can I get this eclipse model?

Well u see that 4 light blue bars , dont u ?

 

So u click on the Rebed (last bar) and will open down a menu where u see the Models word (the last)

 

U go to that place and can download the tools needed to change models (probably - coz for me doesnt worked that time), and "the" models.

 

However i've made the model changing myself in my TC.

 

U must learn the place of the galleon and u must also learn how and where to change the files in the specific DLL file.

U need RESHACH wich also must be found somevere in the site.

I cannot explain how to change the models coz i forgot, i've made my TC in 2006, something like that...

But i remember that somewhere is a teching program, search it.

If u could find MASK's site, there is a plenty of stuffs you need, also many other models.

I've used the Shuttle for Assault Transport duties, and the shuttle was made by MASK.

 

Do you want to try my TC ?

Is at least 40-42 megabyte.

Anyhow, I'm pretty happy with my work right now. If anything, I might integrate your work, but I don't think I'd entirely switch TCs at the moment. If you don't mind me integrating some of your work, I'd be happy to take a look at your mod. Ideas never hurt. :)

------------No, thats not that hard to do, but needs quite a lots of time :)

I mean that in lets tell TACTICAL.DLL u have to know where u can change the models.

Ex : lets tell that the galleon's model have the 439 slot nr.

But you have to know this that the galleon have the 439 slot nr, coz if u not know, maybe u change the 440 slot nr. wich is not the galleon, it is the ISD.

So, u think that changed the galleons model with the Eclipse, but u changed the ISD to Eclipse.

Now u understand ?

 

Anyhow, I'm pretty happy with my work right now. If anything, I might integrate your work, but I don't think I'd entirely switch TCs at the moment. If you don't mind me integrating some of your work, I'd be happy to take a look at your mod. Ideas never hurt. :)

--- Give me an email adress to where i can send my TC. You dont need to switch, only to look my TC and if you find something interesting in it, you intergate in Reloaded - the ideas i mean. If you did not find nothing, then integrate nothing :)

 

The TC is based on the New Hope ep. IV.

So you will find only persons wich were present in the movie, or even they was not seen, but they can associate with the ep IV.

So ships are denied in the game : ISD 2, VSD 2, interdictor, SSD etc.

It is very interesting, when u have 3 ISD and with their tractor beam u capture a Mon Calamari, that ship could not move, and u simply destroy it ;)

Huahahahahha

 

I intended to make the TC's based on the Empire strikes back, and on the Jedi Retuns. This sequels was not made yet.

And i've intended to do a SUPER TC, with various characters (i have for them very high quality pictures by wich i will be able to do high quality pictures fo r the game). In this TC i intended to place the Sovereign and Eclipse with that raised laser stats.

As i said, i want later to do the sequels too...in the 2'nd Obi Wan would be replaced by Yoda, and in the 3'rd Mon Mothma will appear.

The picture is not 100%, but acceptable. And also with the help of Toguro, who provided the DLL entries stats, i've introduced the voices of Obi Wan, however some of the voises are low quality...

When Obi Wan fight with Palpy : Palpy say

- Your friends will die, hahahahaha

Obi Wan replies : Your cannot escape your destiny, and switch his lightsaber on ;)
