The Last Preview - PCGameworld - :

http://www.pcgameworld.com/previews/gamepreview.php/id/88/

There will be over eighty planetary systems to wage war on and above. So don't expect one battle to decide the outcome of the war. There will also be a multiplayer mode but Petroglyph and L.A. are keeping a tight lid on that information. What is known is there will be a skirmish mode for up to eight players.

 Well ... I remember that in the past we maked a lot of lobby for 80 planets. I mean we had unofficial debates with Mike, Brett and Chris , topics, etc... and we were never able to win.

 I do remember that we had 60 that in the latest update .... but now 80 !?! this can only mean that our community efforts payed off.

:arrow:Congrats to all the people involved in the lobby.

We made it !

PS> My special thanks to JediIgor - Your reply I think was the most powerful in the old debate.

80 2-front battles in EaW is far better than 200 images with one battlefront in rebellion. Now its just unreasonable to use the number of planets in Rebellion to say its better than EaW.

On the same note though, I think Rebellion will be more fun to play in quick settings. I really like giving missions to the characters and you can't do that in EaW. Or name ships. Cain, please lobby to let us name ships....

Count Dooku is the strongest Star Wars character as depicted in the movies. All hail Christopher Lee.

 This will be to late now. Ships have names but they are hero ships .... but we have asked for that too in the past but not as strongly as with the planets. I was like makeing topics everywere and bumping them for weeks on end ... and it worked.

This certainly raises my hopes for this game. The inclusion of over 80 planets expands the possibilities. Howver, what will keep Rebellion head of EaW for me is the micro-management. From what I have seen of EaW the planets will operate much in the same way the planets operated in Battlefront. You can simply choose what planet to attack but it has no real bearing on your game.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

Rung - you can't jump to all then planets.

You can jump from a planet to the next or if you choose another one there will always be a distance limit etc. Try the E3 47 minute eaw video.

I think Thrawn is referring more to micromanagement of materials and resources. Since EaW is using a system that avoids resource production, people who like to count numbers may find more of a home in Rebellion than on EaW. Since I get more of a kick out of seeing ships and managing battles/where to fight battles/what to build rather than counting resources, I have my hopes up for this game.

Ahh... We'll just have to scale them down then, or find a way to make the map bigger. I vote a combination of the two!

Yeah - we can mod this baby to a perfect SWR II. To bad that we will not have diplomacy :(

We can however have a planet have clear leanings. Some worlds can be set up to declare neutrality if you no longer have forces or buildings present on the world.

I'd like to be able to take it a step further. I think for V0.01 of ROR I'll actually think about going in and replacing the individual worlds that are already in the demo with entire systems. Just image fighting over all 5 worlds in the system with Abregado Rae, or all the planets in the Mon Calamari star system. :D
