editing in windows 7

I have tried that one but keep getting error messages while using it and clicking on things. unhandled exceptions if i remember right,

I haven't looked at that new editor closely but if it relies on .Net framework to operate, then you may need to update your machine to the newest versions which are 3.5 & 4 as I recall. Typically, those types of unhandled exceptions are frequent when an application calling a .Net component cannot find it.

Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten." - George Lucas, 1988. [u.S. Congressional hearing testimony on film preservation.]

wanted to let u guys know i finally found a solution to the rebed failure(s) and error messages.

I too couldnt get it to work, but an idea popped into my head. Basically i said screw it and went with a VM or XP-mode in my case installed it there and it worked fine, problem was the resolution on XP-MODE was 640x480 (not stretched so it was very small) but rebed worked.

So i had an idea of copying all the GDATA files and overwritting them in the windows 7 folder, and it worked.

So in short install rebellion and rebed into a virtual machine and/or XP-Mode and copy all the GDATA files and overwrite the ones in your win 7 version and your rebed will now work there.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

To make Rebed work in win7, you have to change the permissons for each of the dats,

for example-> to edit the capital ships in rebed

-Go to your rebellion directory and open GDATA

-Find the CAPSHPSD.dat and open the properties

-Open the securities tab and click on the edit button

-In the first box you select your user

-In the permissons section check the box for full control

-Apply these settings and quit out.

Rebed should now work for the capital ships, obviously you have to do this for every .dat you want to modify which should be displayed in that french error message

Thanks katharos that works just fine.

But when I reinstalled I went looking for a quicker way and found it :)

Select all the files in the data directory, right click, then un-check the "read only" button.

Then just run rebed as administrator.

That's working fine for me
