Hello all:
Old subscriber here but new to posting, have a question.
Can SWR be set up to play PvP between 64-bit machines?
I am pretty intimidated by the knowledge base here but also really encouraged; I figure of anyone knows how to do this - if it can be done - it will be one of you folks.
Thanks for not laughing too hard at an old dinosaur; I appreciate any replies, even if they are just to say "No can do".

Are you running the game in a 64 bit environment, or on a VM loaded from a 64 bit machine?

I imagine you are running it in 64 bit, no VM. Pretty sure you can play head-to-head like that, but you both need to have the same files. If you have the game running on both machines successfully, I think it should load. I don't think you can play with one player on 32 bit and one on 64, since the files must be altered to run on 64 bit.

Let us know exactly how you are setting things up and whether you have tried it yet or not.

It should probably work for 32-bit and 64-bit mixed hosts so long as the game files are the same, unedited by RebEd. The host differences are transparent to the game executable.

Really? I thought some of the support files were changed. But upon reflection, I can't think of a file that is modified, so... I guess you're right.

I confess I haven't played a PvP rebellion game in many years, but shouldn't the game work if both players load the same rebed file? For example, if I go in to rebed, decrease all hyperdrive ratings to 30% default, save changes to a file named 30% hyperdrive, saved to work with both sides, and share said file with my opponent, that person then loads the file into their copy of rebed, both of our games should have the same settings, so they should in theory be the same. Would the game have problems with that, or do you know?

32 bit and 64 bit gotta have the same .exe for this to work. Tested this myself. So if both the 32 bit and 64 bit use budious's compatible version of the .exe, both will get the long intro (take a cup of tea and then all's good to play the game).

Good to know. Thanks!

DarionLeonidas, I think the consensus is yes, you can play it. Are you having trouble?

I should have been more specific, unedited or synchronized changes. If both clients have loaded the same edits RebEd multiplayer works. Same with the client executables, just so long as you use the same version or modified .exe they should connect.
