Invisible Capital Ships

Question

I am using a copy of SWR that was copied from an original disk I owned (has been broken). The copy quit working when I updated to Windows 7 home premium. I've downloaded a torrent disk image, and a program to make the computer think it has the disk in it. I installed from that image, and now the game runs, but the opening cinematics don't work. When I put in my physical disk, the opening cinematics DO work. The only two problems I have are: can't skip intro with C3-PO (have read that is common) and ALL capital ships are invisible in space combat! Anyone know how to see the capital ships again?

Do you have a 64-bit W7, or 32 bit? The latter is much more accessible with SWR. Also, I already had something like that. When I reinstalled on my laptop, it worked with models again. If I remember correctly, Slocket has done a fix to prevent-us from waiting for C3PO or IMP22 to finish their speech. What I do is start a game with either rebs or imps and save the game right after the speech. Or you could make yourself a coffee while he's speaking...
