OOC: Damn real life...I'm here. Let me get caught up on the new characters, and I'll catch up my end of things. Especially with a few folks gone for a bit, we'll have some slowdown anyway.

Speaking of which, this role-play getting big enough to need its own OOC forum? What's everybody think?

OOC:
Yeah, sounds good. It'll make it a lot easier to talk about and get stuff organised.

IC: Karn and Captain Kre'Nel enterd the turbolift that would take them down the the ship's cargo bay. This would be their first meeting to discuss their intellegence gathering mission and how they were going about it. Kre'Nel was coming down as well to make sure everything was in order in the cargo bay.
"Sir, do you know anything about this new technology the Imperials are using?" Kre'Nel pipped up.
"Not really, well not in prticular. During the Rebellion the Imperial's were always cooking some new peice of technology up to stop us. Though now that the Rebel Alliance has moved onto the New Republic, they're fighting a new war on leveller terms.
Towards the end of the Emperor's life, there was a few Imperial research facilities working on jamming equipment to foil the Alliance's hit and run tactics. It's most likely a heavily modified version of one of these jammers."
Kre'Nel took in the information with ease as all Bothan's do. And, as always, her responce was straight to the point.
"Do you or the New Republic posses knowlledge on the workings of these jammers?"
"Me? Not a clue. And I don't think the New Republic ever got their hands on this technology, then again I don't think they would tell us if they did."
Before either could continue the conversation, the doors on the lift slid open revealing the cargo bay of his ship. It had been significantly altered since the last time he had seen it. The open areas had been filled with a range of equipment, droids and personal. It looked like there was at least fifteen others down here.
Standing with his back turned to the elevator, and looking at some of the equipment, was Sergeant Brandei. Karn and Kre'Nel exited the turbolift and headed over towards Brandei.

Alex looked back and stiffened to attention as Karn and Kre'nel walked over in his direction.

"Sir, all of the equipment is set up and functioning well; the new Fabritech suite they gave you is one nice piece of equipment."

"I've had some thoughts on what may be going on, but it's going to be tough to deal with without a lot of simulations and a lot of number-crunching. How much do you know about scanners, sir? About how they do what they do, that is."

IC as Drelin:

"So that's the mission, gentlemen" he said, addressing the civilian captains attached to the task force. "We need those Imperials cleared off the surface as soon as possible so we can conduct our own business without looking over our shoulders every 10 minutes. I'd prefer captures whenever possible, but don't let someone get away for fear of hurting him, either. Coordinate with Ulic Horn on the Reckless Wonder; he's had a bit of a head start on you, and will be heading up this mission for us."

Turning to Arten, he said "Well, captain, you have a couple of choices. You can either participate in this mission, after which we'll return your ship, no questions asked, along with a fairly substantial bonus from the Republic for your assistance, or we can conduct a thorough search of your ship and background, contact the government on Hefi to find out what might be contraband down there, and go from there. I hate to blackmail you this way, but I need competent people who won't be traced immediately back to the Republic."

While he waited for Arten's reply, the Alderaan's captain signalled an incoming transmission from Hefi.

"Excuse me a moment while you consider, captain. This is General Drelin, commanding Republic Task Force Envoy. How can I be of service?"

Less than two standard hours later Ulic Horn's lumbering ship docked on board the Reckless Wonder, his team gathered. It consisted of only two other non-Republic memebers but they'd surely help get the job done. His co-pilot continued with the repairs and Ulic made his way to the brifing room and went off in search of Derlin.

Arten paused for a moment, considering his options. He was fairly confident that the idiot republic captian and his crew wouldn't be able to find any evidence of his cargo if they had looked, but the offer of a 'substantial reward' seemed too good to refuse. On the other hand though, this captain would probably have no second thoughts of screewing him over once the job was done.

In the end, the implied compliment about needing 'competent people' won him over.

"Sir, I hate to think that you can't trust me, since I'm such an honest, well meaning, charit..."

"Cut the crap and get to the point."

"I'd be delighted to join the mission, Sir."

Despite the outward appearence of trustworthiness, Arten was already planning his escape route.

IC as Iodit

Head Councillor Iodit Thrumium "General, this is HeadCouncillor Iodit Thrumium of Hefi... I am the official leader of Hefi. I was just inquiring as to the reason you needed such a... large fleet... to negotiate... that was the deal. Just negotiation, a single ship no greater strenght then Mon Calamari Cruiser.
And for your information, we invited the Imperials here... the single strike cruiser was the force that was authorized, but they brought in additional... at least they had the good heart not to bring them into the system."

"Secondly, are you going to be the diplomat representitive? You are authorized to send a single shuttle down to the planet. Our own defense forces will provide escort. No Fighters are to enter the atmosphere, understand?"

"Finally... hang on a second."
Iodit glanced over to his right as General Mulroon entered.

"Uh sir, we're picking up intermittent IFF contacts on the far side of our moon... i don't think the rebels can see them, our ground station's are more powerful, but we can't identify them."

Iodit sighed. "Your kidding me. Launch the ready fighters, and call up our secondary pilots. ETA until merc group 2 arrives?"

"2 hours sir," Mulroon replied.

"Very well, send the flight of 4 out to scout out the moon... fire only if fired upon."

The general saluted and walked out.

"Apologies General. Send down your shuttle with your representatives. You may give it a flight of 4 escort down to the planet, but then they must return to there ships. Our own flight of 4 has to pick up some supplies. Understand?"

IC as Jon

Jon rocketed skywards, Tara clipped right in behind him.
"Sorry we're late... what's the sitrep Scearcy?"

"Possible enemies behind the moon. We're to scout it out. NR forces should know we're clean."

"Roger, tighten it up. Jeff, patch into ground control, get me what there seeing."

The group of 4 fell in, at max speed.

"Sir, transmitting now," came Jeff's voice. He glanced at his sensors. Small blips kept appearing, then disappearing, just as rapidly.

"What the hell is this? Alright, ETA 30 seconds. Stay frosty."

They drew closer.

As Drelin:

"I apologize for the unexpected size of our task force, Head Councilman. Advance scouting of your system indicated an Imperial presence, and in our experience, that generally indicates an increased need for security, whether they're here at your invitation or no. Your invitation wouldn't stop them from firing on us out of principle."

"As for transporting Ambassador Bandi down to the surface, I'm afraid that is impossible while there are Imperial troops at large; again, they wouldn't think twice about killing or capturing our ambassador. I will arrange to have Ambassador Bandi himself contact you to work out an acceptable time to meet once we've satisfied our security concerns. In the meantime, we have identified your security forces, recognize their right to operate, and will do our best to stay clear of them."

Iodit? That's not fair. I just know I'm going to slip up and call him "Idiot" before this whole thing is over.

Terminating the transmission, he said out loud, to nobody in particular, "I suck at diplomacy".

Turning to Arten, he said "Well, Captain, I'll let you get to it. My crew will arrange a shuttle for you over to the Reckless Wonder, where Horn is setting up the mission."

As the Alderaan's captain came up behind him, Drelin said "Much as I hate to, we'd better get the Ambassador up here to talk to these people."

"Yes, sir. One question, though: what happens when the Hefians find our operatives down there rounding up the Imperials?"

Drelin sighed. "That's why I only sent the civilians, Olan. I hate hanging people out to dry, I really do, but if it comes down to it, that's precisely what we're going to have to do."

Hunt Bandi was the new Ambassitor for the Republic and his reputation was a good one, not just because of his records on deeling in the diplomatic world but also the nasty temper that showed its face quite regulaly.

The commlink that Ambassitor Bandi had asked for was handed to him ten quick seconds later. Bandi took it gruffly and turned it on.

"General Drelin," he spoke in to the commlink. No he did not speak it he spat it. "Put General Drelin on line," he commanded. The person on the other end of the commlink started to protest but was quickly cut off.

"NOW," Bandi shouted. There was a quick scurrying and a knock on a door then an, "excuss me, General Drelin?" Bandi sat at his desk impatiently, tapping his fingers on the hard wood. His face was in no way pleasent looking and any officers that entered the room quickly moved back out again.

Bundi waited, he hated waiting, but at the moment that was all he could do.

As Drelin:

Sighing heavily, trying to summon enough patience to deal with this conversation, Drelin answered the comlink as pleasantly as possible.

"Yes, Ambassador, what can I do for you?"
