The Chronilces cannons had heavily damaged theISDs and the captains had been forces to surrender or face destruction because of their incapability to maneouver.

But as the rebel wasa moving in a VSD had passed behind the Chronicle and and pounded it to near destruction before some Allian ce fregates had had time to contain it.

Merick sat in his command chair. He had ordered the crerw to evacuate. It was note necessary for them to risk their lives for his. He had watched Thrawn steal four shipyards. Other ones where slowly moving away from the planet but most were out of range... Exept for a small group of about 6 yards. They were escorted by an MOD. If he managed to stop that monster the shipyards would not have time to escape but how could he do such a thing? Suddenly an idea sprouted in his mind.

He set a course for the MOD. He then blocked the engines and the auto-pilot. The Ship would not stop unless destroyed and it was impossible for the MOD to do that within the time of Impact.

Merick watched the Cannons of the MOD concentrated their fire to try and destroy the ship. But the Chronicle held together. As if it knew this was its final task and it would accomplish it to the end like it had with all its other missions.

The Torpedos launchers of the MOD opened fire in a desparat attempt to destroy it.

Merick turned to watch the battle. Fihter combats. Small supernova like explosion everywhere. Even the greatest light display could not rival with this. How could such beauty mean so much death?

At this moment a Proton torpedoe entered the bridge all Merick saw before everything became black was the ocean blue shine of the torpedoe colliding with the bridgeshields. Then it exploded.

The Chronicle continued and collided, sending debris in every direction, with the middle of the MOD. The shipyards would stay where they are.

OOC: Mad, weren't the shipyards already gone?

IC: The last minutes of the battle had been outright desastrous. The shipyards were lost, as were large parts of the Rebel fleet. The Star Destroyers' superior firepower had heavily damaged the two Mon Cal cruisers Ackbar had sent into battle mere minutes ago, their escorts were dead.

Liberty herself had suffered from a collision with a dying imperial gunboat, its weapons load violently exploding against her shields, but still she was one of the least damaged ships in the engagement zone. Chronicle had been lost. Dozens of fighter craft lost.

As the imperial destroyers moved away from the planet, firing blindly into the Rebel group, pickup craft hurried out of Liberty's hangar, coming to the rescue of pilots who had to exit their fighters, trying to find traces of survivors in battered starships' hulks.

"To the fleet: Retreat. Move away from the enemy ships at maximum speed. There's nothing we can do here anymore." Ackbar said, feeling the weight of these words in his gut. "Hero of Commenor, Liberty and Defiance will stay behind for the rescue operations. We will fight the Empire another day."

Slowly, the two fleets separated, triangular imperial destroyers moving one way, some of them already vanishing into hyperspace, the rebels moving the other way, trying to avoid the enemy's turbolasers. Rebel fighters scored last kills against the retreating TIEs.

Ackbar had been prepared to lead the fleet into a battle they could not have won today. He had been prepared to lead thousands of brave people into their deaths. He had been prepared to die.

But he would not die today; he would have to live with the sacrifices he had been prepared to make.

OOC: Oops, I decided not to kill myself.

For a moment Evan could only sit there with his mouth hanging open, but he slowly began to comprehend what had happened. Shock turned to satisfaction. Norteo was dead. The Imperials had won, yes, but it had cost them. The Rebellion would go on. No matter how hopless it seemed, the Imperials could not crush the Rebel fighting spirit.

The battle was over. It was time to pick up the pieces.

"Alright, all remaining Rebel fighters back to your capitol ships. We have done all we can here. The war goes on."

Evan turned his craft back to the Rebel fleet before realizing the Chronicle was gone. Merick was dead. He remembered him when they first met, saving him from the Imperials in an asteroid field......

A flare of fury ignited in him. Just when he had avenged one trajedy, Merick had died. He had a new motivation

OOC: IIRC You jettisoned yourself in an escape pod. Undoubtedly crewmen from the Liberty are retrieving it now. The Bad Samaritan is now in Noreto's hands, however.

I think the Rebels' survivors will have a debriefing and an official ceremony to remember the fallen in the time Antilles takes to post his part of the Jedi business.

OOC - So are we going to continue off of this with a Post-ANH roleplay? Or are we all going to join a seperate RP?

IC - Dally sat in the escape pod, the feeling in his legs and arms vanishing slowly. He cursed to himself mentally, wondering how everything could have gotten so bad. Just a few weeks earlier, he had been a free man, working a semi-honest living. And now here he was, virtually crippled, his ship in the hands of an Imperial Admiral, and he himself in an escape pod, which was probably going to be picked up by the imperials.

As Dally thought about all of this, he felt the pod shake suddenly, and he realized that someone was picking him up. He managed to crawl over to the viewport, and was astonished by what he saw. It was one of the freightors from his group, the Mantooine Princess. He was happy to know that at least one other ship that he had led managed to survive this long. When his pod was docked with the ship, he looked over to the hatch, and waited for it to open. Before it did, however, he felt the entire ship lurch, and he realized that they had entered hyperspace. It was a risky move, but he knew the captain must have done it for a good reason.

Suddenly, the hatch opened, and he saw the captain of the Princess standing there, a smug look on her face. He had noticed her from a distance while they were all getting their ships ready for the battle, but he had never had time to actually go and talk to her. And now here he was, face to face with her, and he barely had the ability to move, let alone talk. She looked at him, and smiled.

"Well commander, welcome aboard the Princess. Im the captain, Malyn Scrath. I heard that some imp hijacked your ship, and that you were in this pod. I decided to swing by and pick you up when the order to retreat was given." she said, and she reached into the pod, and grabbed his arm. With a mighty heave, she hoisted him out of the pod, and into her ship. She slkapped a button, and the hatch closed again, and the pod jettisoned back into hyperspace, vanishing almost instantly. She hauled him to the cockpit, and set him in the co-pilots chair, and she sat down in the main chair. She eyed him carefully, and shook her head.

"That imp must have messed you up pretty good. What did he do, hit you with a stun button one to many times?" she asked, a smile on her face. Dally just looked over to her, and smiled. He chuckled slightly, and shook his head.

"No, my droid was sabotaged to try and poison me apparently. I managed to stop it before it killed me, but I cant feel my arms or legs at the moment. It took them a while to go numb. I picked up Admiral Noreto in an escape pod, and he took advantage of my condition. He took my ship, and I jettisoned before he got both of us killed." He said, anger in his voice growing more and more evident. Malyn just stared at him, and started the laugh. She shook her head, and looked out her viewport to the lines of hyperspace.

"Heh. You really got yourself into trouble. Just so you know, your ship apparently exploded before he managed to get away, so he got what he deserved. And a few other vessels from our group survived, and we jumped with the remnants of the rebel group. Most of us are going to join op with the rebels now. And we agreed to stay together as a group. And we were wondering if you would want to stay and lead us?" she asked, a sparkle in her eyes.

Dally raised an eyebrow, and thought about it for a moment. Noreto was dead, so he didnt have to worry about him anymore. He was safe to stay in Imperial space. With his ship destroyed, however, he didnt have anywhere to go. That, and as much as he hated to admit it, he liked fighting the empire. Something abou tit made him proud. He nodded slowly, and looked to Malyn.

"You realize I dont have a ship, right?" he asked, a quizzical look in his eyes. He had no idea how he was going to lead a group of freightors without a ship of his own. But something told him that Malyn had an idea.

"You do now. This ship isnt mine. I stole it form some reckless smuggler a few months ago when i got stranded on Coruscant. And it taked a crew of two to run it effectively. You can take over command of this ship, and Ill stay on as first mate." she said, humor in her voice being evident. Dally just shook his head, and chuckled. How in the name of the force could he live with himself as commander of a ship called the 'Mantooine Princess'? He looked over to Malyn, and sighed.

"Can we at least change the name?" he asked, his voice belying the desperation in it. Malyn simply broke out into laughter, and shook her head.

"Go for it commander, its your ship now." she said, and she reached over to the command console, and brought up a small screen. She hit another button, and slow music began to flow throughout the ship. Dally listened to it for a moment, and then smiled. It was an old correllian folk song, one that Dally had grown up listening two when his father was still a smuggler. Dally leaned back in his seat, and thought about it for a moment. The ships name would have to have some sort of meaning to it. Suddenly, the name came to him, and he smiled.

"Ill call it the Admirals Folly, in memory of Noreto. I think he would hate it." he said, and Malyn broke out into laughter. Dally followed suit, and after few minutes, the both stopped and looked at each other. After a few moments, the both looked out the viewport, and stared at the lines of hyperspace. After a while, Dally spoke soflty, as if not wanting to break the silence and the flow of music.

"So tell me, how long until we exit hyperspace?" he asked, his voice smooth and mellow. He was beginning to get the feeling back in his arms and legs, apparently his droid hadnt managed to inject enough poison to keep him down for long. Malyn looked over to him, and smiled.

"Not much longer. When we exit, we are supposed to dock with the Liberty for repairs, along with the rest of the survivors. After that, who knows?" she said, and she looked back to the viewports. Dally simply smiled, and nodded. He decided to leave it at that, and get all the peace and quite he could out of this. He had a feeling that as soon as his group wa sready, the rebel command would have some missions for them. But until then, relaxing was his top priority.

OOC - Ok, unless someone mentions my guy or his ship directly, Im done. Off to the Repora RP!!

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

I think to finish of the rpg we would need the survivors of the battle to organise a memorial service in the honor of the dead in the battle.
