Sleep Habits

So it's 1:30 in the morning, I have school on Thursday, and I can't sleep. My internal clock is quite possibly the most messed up internal clock on my little island. How's everyone else's? What time do you usually go to sleep/wake up? Not that it matters, I'm just a curious insomniac, here.

Been there, hated that. Current solution is working all day, doing exercises at night, having a chronic illness and vegging out in front of the TV before bed.

NEVER watch something thought provoking if you have trouble sleeping (damn you Boston Legal), try to avoid new books. My biggest problem was my brain would start up as I tried to sleep - so, the idea was to shut it down with something mundane.

So yeah, I use to have a crazy sleeping pattern. Some nights up till 2 in the morning, others down by 11. Now I got to bed at 10-10:30, read a little and stop because I'm falling asleep

I go to bed anywhere between 12 and 2. It depends on what Im doing. Occasionally I have a hard time falling asleep, and that really sucks because its already late enough as it is. I just lay there and wait for sleep to come...

I usually got to bed at 11:40 PM and wake up at 6:40 AM.

I wish I didn't have to sleep. If you think about it, it is such a waste of time.

I totally agree with that. I sometimes wish I was that boy in the X-Men 2 movie who didn't sleep, and stayed up all night watching TV. I wouldn't spend the whole time watching TV, but just to not have to sleep would be great. I'd get like a night job or something, so Id work two jobs. That would be sweet.

My sleep habbits are like that:

I search a tree with a strong branch where I can sit on and than I do burry my head into my feathers. 8);)

Indeed its good to have a slepp-rythm. That means you should go to bed at the same time and stay up aswell at the same time as good as possible. Because your body gets accustomed to that and will fall asleep much sooner. I did the same as Mad, Rob and Tofu had described above and had lots of problems finding sleep. Since Ive got my sleep rythm everything is fine most of the time.

Who cares at all?!

8O Sounds like a crap-tastic morning to wake up to, Rob. You have my pity.

I always hate those mornings. When you have to drink an energy drink just to stay up... *shudders* I hate the taste of Rockstar or Monster or whatever that crap was.

I read through a website giving tips on sleeping once, basically it said. Get up at the same time every morning, and sleep when you start to feel tired, that way your body gets exactly the amount of sleep that it needs. Of course you have to practice getting up in the morning, the author suggested that you do a few mock run throughs of setting your alarm, closing your eyes for 5 minutes, then getting up straight away. This will make your brain think of that as the norm, instead of lying in for that extra 10 minutes. I tried it for a bit, but theres no one online at 10am =( lol.

My internal clock is probably somewhere near Toronto (and drifting west :))

This works for me too, however it brings a certain risk of missing the bus (or a lecture) :) I usually try to get out of the bed ASAP before I fall asleep again. Surprisingly no matter how wasted my day cycle is, I can almost always wake up just few minutes before my alarm clock starts ringing.

Impressive. I always wake up at, like, seven on the weekends, because that's when my alarm clock goes off during the week, but I'm out again for another solid two or three hours after that.

I get up just before sunset, then I go bed before the sun comes up for dawn.

Talk about a night owl, that I am. That sun light is strong, makes think of work and now I can sit back and sleep all day!

Not that there is much to do in this boring town, I live in.

Dude, what? Eight hours of sleep and you're still tired? What's wrong with you? I got six hours last night (in bed at one, up at seven) and I did just fine.

Granted, we weren't doing anything in second period, so I spent half an hour napping, but that's beside the point. Even without the nap, I'd have done fine, like I usually do on little sleep.

Anything under six hours is warranted energy drink usage. Anything over it is not. Six hours.... at your own discretion. Heck, I know teachers who admit to only getting about five hours of sleep!

I lived off 3 - 4 hours of sleep a night for a couple months, I just kept falling asleep throughout the day.

5 - 6 hours is fine for me, but recently (Cause I have no reason to wake up) I've been sleeping for around 12 hours every day if not more ^_^.

5 hours last night. Well, just around five. To sleep at 1:30, up at about 7:15 in the morning. I've discovered that I have a strange ability to deactivate my alarm clock in my sleep. Also, without waking up, I can very convincingly assure anyone who asks that I am awake and that I'm getting dressed/brushing my teeth/using the toilet.
