Holiday(Vacation)?

So who goes, when, and where to? Or who was where, or wasn't and why?

Are you using "holidays" as the "vacation"-style "holidays" or as the "Christmas, Easter, Boxing Day"-style "holidays?"

 

If we go with the former, I'm off to Atlanta come Monday, to visit Georgia Tech and to hang out with my older sister for a little while.

Then, on the twenty-eighth, I'm taking off up north to New York. Gonna visit Rochester Institute of Technology, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Niagara Falls, and Pittsburgh over the course of a week, but not in that order.

I think he means the "vacation" holiday.

 

As for me, we're not doing anything this year. We just moved, so its a bit tight right now. Sometime next year (during my spring break) we're planning on going to Las Vegas to visit the misses family.

Oh, Vegas. Went there when I was ten and got kicked out for pointing out that the "decorative" mirrors in Caeser's Palace were positioned perfectly so that whoever was sitting at the "House" seat could see everyone else's cards at the Poker tables. Same went for the Blackjack tables. DOn't waste your money gambling over there, Rob- unless you've got the MIT Blackjack team on your side, odds are pretty low that you'll win big.

 

Maybe stick a buck or five into some slot machines, just for the novelty of it, but leave it at that; if you go in with a spending limit (I will only spend twenty dollars on gambling and no more!) you'll be able to walk away regret-free. The Travel Channel supports me on this, man!

 

Oh, and if you get kicked out of Caeser's Palace, take pictures- I want to see if they still have the same bone heads working security.

Like I said, Im not going for the gambling, but to visit some family. Both the misses sisters moved out there over the years. Ones husband works IT security or something to that affect at one of the casinos, and the other sister is going to school out there.

 

But Im sure Im gonna have to check it out at least once. But Im not much of a gambling man, so I dont think I'll go overboard.

Wait, Tofu. Your not alowed to drink a beer in a bar but you are alowed gambling in casinos in the US??? So you aren´t alowed to ruin your liver but to ruin just the rest of your life??? Well that´s america!

 

On topic:

No, vacation this summer. I let those with families go first. It´s ok for me to go in september or october and mainly stay in my nice city to do all that for which normally is no time and because I hate travelling.

No, I'm not allowed to gamble, either- it's okay, Eagle. See, Vegas is about 9,000 degrees Celsius in the Summer Time (Give or take about 8,950 degrees), so it's really not prudent to leave a ten-year-old out in the street while his parents are checking out the casino. There's no rule forbidding a youngster from entering, just from actually sitting down anywhere that's used for gambling. They didn't want us taking up chairs that could have been used by a forty-something fellow who was down on his luck with a bottle of booze in one hand and a bucket full of quarters in the other. *Shrug*

 

Hate traveling, eh? Traveling is one of my favorite things. Not the "get-up-at-four-in-the-morning-to-catch-your-flight" part of traveling, but the "I'm-in-a-totally-different-place-this-is-awesome" part of it.

This September my wife and I are going to Disneyworld for a few days. My wife works for the airlines, so we get to fly for free. Last time I went there was back in the 80's.

Yes, it´s that way I meant it. I hate travelling itself. Being on another location is ok.

Zackynthos... that sounds like a place where you can obtain a magical sword with which to fight evil or something. At any rate, even if you don't find a magical sword, enjoy your stay.

 

And remember; tropical islands are a great place to hole up in the event of a zombie outbreak.

Im jealous Mad. Im not going anywhere. With my masters program, I'll be taking summer courses from May-August. Im sad.
