I'm taking off. Not right now, but for a little while. Expect no posts from the awesomeness that is Tofu for a good solid week starting Sunday. I know it's painful, but if you all band together, I'm sure you can pull through it. Be strong!

Okay, yeah, I know I'm not getting any reactions close to that. I'll be off at the Boys State program for the week. I essentially get to play master editor of a fake State... hopefully. With any luck the kids involved will be primarily incompetent, and I can rise above them with ease. If not, I may have some rather menial labor to perform.

That said: Hasta luego, ciao, arrivoderche (sp?), goodbye, goodbye in German, and May the Wind be Always at Your Back.

Have fun Tofu! That sounds like a great little .... camp? Not sure if that's the right word for it, but it sounds like something I'd have had a kick out of in my day. Lets just hope you don't go ruining your state ..it's not that I don't trust you, it's just that I don't trust you

Oh, and we'll get by without you - if only just. There'll be tears from Mad, whimpering from Eagle, rejoicing from Tex for about 3 seconds before he forgets what happened, and I'll be hiding under the table eating your play lunch. I mean ... waiting for your return

Have fun out there Tofu. I remember when I had to create a nation for one of my Political Science classes. My nation ended up being an exporter of beets and we forced all the homeless into the military, and if they were too far gone to work there, we killed them off. Sounds horrible, I know. But I was young and idealistic back then.

Anywho, have fun, and good luck taking over.

Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side!

Thanks, guys. I leave in just about twelve hours from the time of posting. Don't you dare touch my play lunch, Krytos! If my brownie is gone when I come back, I'll know who to blame!

I'm not exactly sure what to call it either. It's a program, I guess- that's what the American Legion (a bunch of fat, retired military guys with massive beards) calls it. It should be interesting; I've officially decided that I'm going to give my college options the middle finger and go into the media "branch." I don't have to worry about elections as much; instead I write articles in a paper, skew the facts a little bit so that my opinions are the ones that get published, possibly appear on daily television broadcasts, and hopefully distort the facts enough that ultimately I'm in control of everything.

In short: I intend to make Tim Russert start rolling in his grave.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand... I'm off. Try to keep it together without me, won't you? I'll bring back links, and point out which articles I wrote in the paper... or else point out the article that says, "This kid got kicked out of the program for inappropriate behavior with the local cheerleaders," either or. :)

I saw Indiana Jones this week! Crap! This is the wrong thread :?

(* walks off mumbling *) Damn young whipper ... whipper campers? ... whimper sappers? ... Damn! ...

Finally, after years of hard work I am the Supreme Sith Warlord! Muwhahahaha!! What?? What do you mean "there's only two of us"?

 Glad you didn't take offence Tex :)

I was also thinking of things as double entendre - Mad crying with happiness, you forgetting because you didn't care etc.

Now lets go get some of those whimper sappers ... almost sounds like a breed of dog.

*Starts whistling* Here boy!

Not the world's most favorable one. I was part of the Capitol State Press Corp; fancy way of saying I worked on the newspaper. I got both the @$$ end of the deal and the best deal; I didn't have to do as much work as some folks, but I didn't get to do nearly as much as they did, either. Like everyone else, I sat through a bunch of tremendously dull classes and tried to stay awake, but failed to on several occasions. Part of my Press Corps duties meant skipping out on State-level party conventions to work on the paper, and also entailed staying up later than most people, usually until around one in the morning. Thus I had a legitimate excuse to be tired.

I worked on the paper a lot, and wound up moderating the debate between our gubernatorial candidates. I gained a lot of popularity by essentially saying, "Thank you, candidates. Neither of you answered the previous question; please go ahead and actually answer it this time."It had to do with State testing and the No Child Left Behind act. That was pretty much the high point of my time there. Got to visit the Phallic Capitol of Florida, visit the House and Senate chamber, check out the Press Box,etc.

That reminds me of this: http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1813834

I´m sorry, that this course wasn´t that interesting as you felt before it started. But you always have to remind yourself that such kind of courses have been created by a bunch of teachers. And the teachers are most commonly boring. ;)

Who cares at all?!

lol- that was pretty great. Gotta love how he mentioned Florida history in there, too! Unfortunately there were no actual girls with big boobs (or girls, period) to look at during those lectures. Though they did play this on a regular basis in a highly successful effort to keep us awake. You'd be amazed how effective that is in a room full of over five hundred everything-deprived teenage guys.

Edit: Someone uploaded what I believe to be simultaneously the best and worst bill passed by the Senate. I give you: Senate Bill 462 (passed unanimously)

Sponsors:Andrew Phillips, James Crater, PJ Hobson, Brandon Tabor, Kameron Wright and The Entire Senate

A Bill

To Be Entitled

AN ACT TO: increase the efficiency of the legislative branch

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

Section 1. A legislative body has the right to obliterate, annihilate, eliminate, and/or obliterate any obsolete hindering agent.

Section 2. Said obsolete hindering agent shall be defined as the House of Representatives

Section 3. All Representing House of Representatives representatives woh represent in the representative House of Representatives shall no longer represent as representatives in said House of Representatives

Section 4. Section 5 is false

Section 5. Section 4 is true

Section 6. If a unanimous decision is not reached, the Speaker shall not retain his position. Additionally , due to the spectacular, nay, godlike efficiency of the superior legislative body, the have no longer allotted time for restroom breaks; therefore, the Speaker of the House will now be responsible for "Senatorial fecal matter disposal."

Section 7. There shall be no section 8 in this bill.

Section 9. This bill shall be enforced by Girl Scout Troop 114 from Kennebunkport, Nebraska

Section 9 3/4. That was a Harry Potter joke

Section 10. Yes this really is bill number 462. We are just that efficient.

Section 11. If i failed to read this out LOUD LOUd LOud Loud loud, then I'm a sissy girl. Additionally, you will address me as Sally

Section 12. The fact that I, reading clerk of the house, am actually reading this, proves our inefficiency. Damn, those Senate guys were correct.

Section 13. If a man in Scuba gear dies in the forest, is he a member of the House of Representatives? Think about it...cuz we haven't

Section 14. I'm Aaron Larsh???

Not really. Unless you're tremendously into politics, you won't enjoy it. And yes, the lectures were very boring. We managed to put together a montage of sleeping people for the TV part of the press corps, and a series of still images that were captured by both professional and amateur photographers in the paper. The one featuring the back of my head is actually a posed picture- I don't think I ever managed to fall asleep while I was in the Capitol... though not for lack of trying.
