So finally they´d announced it.

Looks like a mixture of the good ol´ game and Warcraft 3. But that doesn´t matter. I guess it´s time again that people gonna fear Eagle´s Zerg swarm again.

Who cares at all?!

Curse you Mad, I was just going to post about this!

It's exciting that they've chosen to do a sequel to StarCraft rather than to a game that already has one (Diablo for example). The nice thing about Blizzard making games is that you know they're going to do it right, and they're not going to release it until it's ready (unlike EA or LucasArts).

I suppose my retro gaming spurt of WarCraft 2 (and soon to be WarCraft: Humans and Orcs when it arrives on my door step) will tide me over until a playable demo is available.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

We waited long enough for Starcraft 2 to be announced, maybe if we wait a little longer we'll get Rebellion 2.

I never played Starcraft...

Ineducated fool!!! Starcraft is the best RTS that was ever made.

I played it a bit when I was younger. My sister's boyfriend-at-the-time downloaded it from some source that probably wasn't legal (It's been deleted from my computer, now) and I screwed around with it for a while.

I really didn't get too into it, but that could have been that I was too young to fully understand the game. It was alright, but not really anything to get too excited about in my opinion.

BTW: The word is uneducated, Mad. (I really hope someone else notices the irony there...)

Warcraft 3 in its basic form sucked bad IMO, but when u played mods/maps like DOTA, Enfo's, Hero Arena and the like, it became one of the most addictive games ever for me. I hope SC2 follows that expample, btw check out youtube its got plenty of gorgeous gameplay videos.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA i just fucking cant wait to hear "For Aiur" again :D

You beat me, Tofu. I really need to show up every day again. Maybe even a couple times a day.

The Protoss always were my favorite.

Chaos, Panic, Disorder, Destruction.....

My work here is done.

I never played Starcraft either, but I watched my room mate at college play from time to time.

Me: Cool, Starcraft....playing zerg rush again?

RM: Yep... wanna play Halo in a few minutes when I get killed?

Me: Sure.

RM: ...dibs on the pistol.

Me: Dammit.

I like the look of the power armour in the trailer. :)

I must confess, I've never player with Starcraft either.

Truth be told, it always seemed more of a rusher's game, which I find rather boring.

But, then again, not playing does limit my ability to comment.

As for the next gen coming out - I can't say I'm a big fan of the in game graphics so far. Everything feels like sprites and not 3d models. I realise that from a designer's point of view and a technical point of view it's difficult, a challenge and has some cool look. Nevertheless, my very first thought was Warcraft III looked better than it :?

Hopefully some in game vids and higher res screenshots will put that to rest.

@Tofu: Yup, got the irony

Oh, on a side note - I really liked Warcraft 3. Ok, the single player more than anything.

Well show me a RTS-game, which isn´t a rusher´s-game. I guess there is none. Though prowd to be no graphics fetishist (in pc-games), I´m more interested in gameplay than in the look. If you´re in the thick of da battle you won´t recognise any nice graphics anymore. I guess they wanted to keep the old look of the old game so you can recognise all buildings and troops again. Did I have mentioned that I loved the Zerg?

I always found that Warcraft 3 recycled far too much from Starcraft and wasn't original enough.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that.. the whole undead having to build on diseased land was way too familiar.. (i.e. zergs building on creep)..

I soooo cant wait for the release of Starcraft 2!.. :D now I might just have to get permission to install Starcraft at work so I can keep myself trained and ready for it! :)

If you liked the single player WC3, you'll love Starcraft. It and its expansion, Brood Wars, provided some of the most entertaining single player experience. While part of the multiplayer game was certainly rushing, there are many levels to extend it to the mid- and late game arenas.

I am much looking forward to Starcraft 2. The graphics in Warcraft 3 seemed dated, cartoony... though that could just be the Blizzard style. Starcraft 2 has a more modern look - that and the physics effects, hopefully they'll give it use of the latest technology.

Here is how it goes:

Terran + Protoss = The Night Elves

Terran = Humans

Protoss = Orcs (But I ain't sure about that)

Zerg = Undead (The two races are the same)

I would think the protoss were too technological to be equal to the orcs... but their whole Dark Templar thing reminds me of the night elves yes.. and I'll totally agree that the undead = Zerg... they even had Zerglings!!! (basically).. but anyways... I soooo can't wait for this game!.. One of my all time favs (as I'm sure with a good number of us) is Starcraft..

and speaking of game sequels.. I was reading up on X-COM (one of my old favorties) the other day and found out a very similar (almost sequel) game called UFO: Extraterrestrials was slated for release yesterday!.. After checking out the site.. I'm so freaking buying it.. was going to yesterday, but I had to go to the TOOL concert.. so I didnt get the chance.. but today is another day! :D
