A trick for nicking mp3 players here is to take the box into the expensive hifi area of the store (the light in that area of the store are typically dimmed) and to remove the price tag and anti-thief sticker. A guy I know tried that and it worked.

Some people have no shame? :P I'm not saying that I might try that, but.... (just kidding there) :D

Just wanted to say that my friend managed to snag a Wii so I finally got to play it first-hand yesterday. It is quite a remarkable system, and I cannot wait to get my hands on one of my own! All I can say is that my arms still hurt today from playing 6 hours of boxing baseball tennis and golf!

Edit:
It is now 11:45pm, and my arms still hurt from this damn thing. Is that sad and pathetic?

As I stated before, my girlfriend gave me money for my b-day, and I found a nice Wii on ebay that I purchased. Well it appears that I have been bamboozled by some deuche in California. I won the auction on Sunday night, then realized the weirdo only took money orders. So I had the money order overnighted the next day, and on Tuesday he emailed me saying that he received it, but he was gonna wait for the funds to clear. So then we had an email debate, where I insisted that a money order is not a check and there is nothing to wait to clear, and he claimed he had to wait to ensure that I did not pay for the money order with counterfeit cash.

This is where I began to get suspicious, so I began to look through his other auctions and feedback. He had sold a few Wiis earlier, all with positive feedback, but then he bought like 20 1cent auctions in a row, which I can only assume was done to increase his feedback rating. So we continued to debate through emails, and eventually he agreed to wait until Monday and then ship it and give me a tracking number, because he felt the funds would be clear by then. Seeing how this was Friday, I saw no point arguing anymore, and said "ok sure". Well that was the last I heard of him.

Yesterday (Monday) after work I came home to find no email. So I emailed him and said "what is the tracking number". It is now Tuesday night, I havent heard from him. I went on ebay to do some more investigating, and found out that he cancelled his account. So this leads me to assume that I have been scammed out of $350 US dollars (actually $50, my gf gave me $300 as my b-day gift). So I have contacted ebay, and I am now very, VERY frustrated that I had to deal with some deuche like this. I am totally pissed off. Its not the fact that I dont have a Wii yet, its the fact that some blowhole on the west coast has my money. Dirty scumbag!!!

Yeah... this is why I do not do ebay anymore. I used to sell stuff quite often but I hate having the liability of mishandling or damage to a package. I was selling large items, performance bicycles and carbon fiber wheelsets. I mailed one package from GA to CA with a $400 carbon wheel via USPS and they destroyed the thing. It was USPS fault so I refunded the buyer his money but I took the loss. Most of my other sales went smoothly. If it's something not worth at least $200 to sale it's not worth the time or effort honestly. Then you get into total asshats like the guy you bought from, ebay has no way to determine or control these sellers and buyers have to be on the defensive.

Man, that really sucks  I've heard lots of bad stories and such. Luckily I only hit ebay once every blue moon or so. Ebay should make sellers put up a bond or cash deposit in order to sell things. At least that way if they try to rip you off, you can get some if not all of your money back. Good luck on your Wii Rob

(saw a judge judy about that too... wasnt from here was it?)

So I called the money order company today, and since the guy cashed the money order last Wednesday, there is nothing they can do. Once its cashed it is out of their hands.

Ebay directed me to the website for the US governments internet crimes investigation thingy. So I filed my case with them, and apparently they contact the police in my area and in his area and get this stuff together. Luckily I was smart, so I still have all my paper documentations of the money order stub, the receipt from where I bought it, and the receipt from the Post Office for where I overnighted the money order to this jackass. So hopefully everything will work out and I'll get my money, though I feel it will be quite some time if I do get my money back. I wouldnt be so concerned if it was a few bucks, but its $350, 300 of which is my girlfriends. If I see this guy I will stab him with my keys and gouge out his eyes.

Man, you're really lenient, Rob. I'd be much more violent- IE ripping out his small intestine, nailing it to a tree and then chasing him around that tree with a red-hot iron to brand his flesh before finally shoving him into a hole just deep enough that he's suspended by those intestines.

Good luck, man- by the way; how do you know he didn't use a fake address?

My girlfriend spent about 3 months looking in every retailer, as have I. If you ask the clerk for one, they actually laugh and snort at you. That is why you have to spend about $100 extra on ebay. But my girlfriend knew how much I wanted one, and gave me $300 towards one on ebay, so that I didn't have to wait.

As for right now, Ive come to the conclusion that I was not meant to own one. Ive spent too many wasted trips to retail stores, too much time on retailers websites, and now too much money on some dingbat arseface who reeks of fermenting moose genetalia who makes a living leeching off others.

And to make matters worse, I think my girlfriend feels worse than I do. Im pissed because the guy stole from me, and also the fact that I have no Wii. But the money comes first. I dont give a damn about the stupid game right now. But my girlfriend is feeling like she got me nothing for my birthday, and it was directly her money that was stolen. I said "well, you gave me $300 and I spent it" but she wouldnt buy that. So we're both upset. And my friend is ready to start prank calling and harrassing the guy, but I dont have his phone number, much less his email address (we communicated directly through ebay messages).

Needless to say this is not helping my already stressed-out existence with the last 2 weeks of class, and the papers are all coming due...and then the cram sessions for the finals!!!!! Alrite, I think I did enough venting for one night.
