Wierd how blurred the distiction between the US govenment's demand for information on google 'searching' and what we were discussing about Chinese-government state control on the information people have access to, like we were discussing here not so long ago.

But seriously, to put it very simply; on the one hand, the Chinese government want to have complete control over what is accessable, and on the other, if that ruling had gone against Google, the US government would have won the right to potentially having the power to know everything that is being accessed... a slippery slope.

That potentially makes 1 halfway intelligent judge in the States. I'm certain the Supreme Court is a bunch of dumb f*$@s.

Well, as Jahled said, it's not only the US Government... Governments around the world are trying to exert at least some level of control over the digital world... Have a look here...

I should also say that they must so as to avoid the circulation of too many illegal things on the net.

In China a man was jailed for ten years for running a pro-democracy blog, because free-speech is illegal there. A slippery slope...

Yes, it does... But I think that controlling the masses in order to control the few is not the right way... Moreover, I think most governments (including my own) would abuse this level of control...

I can think of one... too bad it doesn't exist. So I guess its a theory, really. A monarchy with a good king. But that's harder to find then two hydrogen atoms in a room full of oxygen... at some point they all group up and become water. Erm, I mean lesser men.

I see. I have a tendancy to wax philosophical at times myself. Then I usually realize what I'm doing and I shut myself up real fast.

My shut-off switch is broken. Consequence of living with two sisters who enjoy having large gathering of their friends. I'm surrounded by idiocy most of the time, so when I get someplace where there's intelligent people I almost can't contain my glee and usually let all sorts of things slip.

That wouldn't break/fix my shut-up switch. But you're right in that it does make me think about things ealier then many people do, and I'm convinced I think about some things that a few people never even consider. For instance, what would it be like to be an ant if I maintained my current intelligence? What about being an ant queen? hmm...

(Though I think that question has absolutely nothing to do with being Mormon  )

This is true. Although I was just thinking that a lot of the people I've grown up going to church with were either really good at flipping on the philosophy switch or just seemed to always come across as philosophical.

I should put you in touch with Bro Bench. This man has a system to go through the scriptures in a year subject by subject. COMPLETELY cross-referenced throughout all 4 books (Bible, BoM, D&C and PoGP).

He's one of the older guys I used to go to church with. He's got 11 or 12 kids. His oldest is old enough to be the mother of his 2 youngest. He and Sister Bench are two of the best people you could ever hope to meet.

Seriously, I don't think the man could ask for a whopper without sounding philosophical.
