Shortest Game played?

Greetings folks.

SWR newbie here posting for the first time. I had been eyeing the game for a couple years now but hesitant to buy it because the price never seemed to come down. Then I found this site a month or so ago and finally bought the game. :D

Still just started playing, and have been limited in time to play but working on my second game now. But I got to wondering after reading the forums here some. What is the fastest game you folks have played in terms of game time?

My first game was as the Rebel Alliance, small galaxy, easy game. (After all, I was just trying to get a feel for it.) I had been working on Luke's force skills when he went off on his Dagaobgh (sp?) training mission. I was still in the process of exploring the Outer Rim and establishing bases and facilities when Luke came back. On about his second or third mission back, he was captured by Vader and taken to Coursant. I was debating on how to mount a rescue mission to get him back when he arrives there.

Well, the "Last Battle" senernio apparently kicked in and Luke ends up capturing both Vader and the Emperor in one sweep. 8O So I jump on the opportunity and grab every ship I can and load up for an assult on Coursant. Once I arrive it is a fairly quick battle to overwheml the defending forces and I win my first game. 8) Total turns elasped, just over 1200. Don't remember exactly, but that is close.

Is that a typical experince, do game normally end that early on?

Or did I just get lucky?

What is the fastest you have ever had a game play out?

I think the shortest game I've ever played was as the Rebel's on headquarters only victory and largest galaxy. I had finished it at about day 600. It was the first game that I had ever won. I was just starting to lose, so I had consolidated every single ship that I had at Bothawui, where I had just relocated my headquarters to. Being the noob that I was, I launched my fleet directly at Coruscant. When I arrived, I had to duel it out with a fleet composing of 1 assault frigate maybe 2 mon cals, and lots and lots of nebs. Against at least 3 Imps, 4 Vics, and other support ships. I won and quickly invaded the system. Victory was mine for the first time ever!!!! :D

Wow, every one seems to have fast games. I tend to play prolonged games. None of mine have ever ended under 5000 days, mostly because I like to establish a securty wall around the core, establishing at least a strong foothold in every sectory.

It's hard to tell. I wont sit down and spend an evening playing rebellion, or any other game for that matter. I tend to play two or three games each night. I suppose a week would be a viable ammount of time for me to complete a satisfactory game.

My shortest game was an online game, i was the Imps (as usual  ) and i think we were playing small galaxy on max speed, HQ victory. we started the game and within 30 mins it was all over. I won and i think the day was around 150-175 (from memory).

In the other guys defense he did say that was his first game online.

1000 days as empire.

I have like 5 fleets that have the approximate strenght of 4 ISD's and 4-5 Lancers. Hunted em down plenty fast.

1400 as Rebel. I actually could of ended it at 1200, but i decided to capture EVERY planet in the galaxy.

422 days online against my friend. Hit him on day 200 with 4 corvettes and an escort carrier, razed everyone of his planets except coruscant...

Never knew what hit him :D

I have only played 2 online games and that was probably back in 00 so I can only speak of comp games.

My shortest game was probably about 100 turns. I was the empire with HQ Victory on. I got smart and started attacking the rebellion right off the bat.... and I paid for it with the loss of coruscant.I had stripped the planet of all its defense's so it was very simple for the rebellion to own me.

But in general my games last 5000+ turns when Im in the mood for a long fun game (and thats most of the time).

The shortest game I ever played was 209 Days.

I found through espionage that the rebels were building a training facility on Bespin around day 30, I knew their HQ must be there. So I took my Coruscant fleet, 1 ISD, 1 VSD and 8 ties along with the Emperor, Villar, Ozzel and Needa to Bespin. There I destoyed their HQ, and captured Mon Mothma.

I then found Luke a few minutes later coming all by him self to Unvena, so I took the same fleet there an caught him on his way into the planet.

That game was vs the computer ovbisouly, but most of my games are 800 to 1000 days long.

Against really good opponents, or just shortest games played? (Over the Zone against real, if not good players) Rebs: day 7. He moved everything from Coruscant and I sent a lone med. transport for the heck of it. Too bad he had also scrapped his planetary defenses expecting more than enough time to build up c/yards. Imps: day 21. Silly reb player decided my extra Victory Destroyer needed some early target practice, so he made sure that when it found his base, he had no defenses to speak of.

Both of these where on hq victory.

It's definitely much easier to have short games for the Alliance, especially if you can get an idea on Vader's whereabouts (Palpatine is almost always on Coruscant). Considering how hapless the AI usually is, it's not that hard to sabotage that SD it has orbiting Coruscant and have some corvettes deal with the hordes of TIEs.

It's more likely you will be rebels (hq victory) and get an escort carrier, perhaps 2 if you are super lucky. Coruscant rush and be finished near day 100. If the fighting to heavy, send han/chew/antillies/luke to sab any capital ships, mop up the rest.

I once defeated someone on standard victory conditions as rebels in multi in under 350 days, assaulted coruscant and by luck captured palpatine with general in process. Then esp mission showed vader nearby and sent han/luke after him and caught him on first try. To say the least. the other player was convinced I had cheated him.

My absolute fastest game... small galaxy, easy AI, HQ victory. I was the Alliance, took my fleet from all over and nailed Corescant with two carriers, med. transports and a few corvettes. Under 100 days.

My fastest game that really took some actual skill was just under 800. I wasn't trying for the super-fast victory, but rather the long haul. Took those Imps out sector by sector using popular support to put his planets into uprisings. Caught most of his people when I went in to free those planets, including Vader. The ship battle over Corescant was a doozy, lost several mon cals, over a dozen corvettes and who knows how many fighters, but won it. That was large galaxy on hard.

My typical game is 1200 days, large galaxy on hard, whether I'm Imps or Alliance. Every once in awhile I limit myself to get a really good game... those are 3000+ days long. :)

65 days. Rebels, small galaxy, hq victory. I got extremely lucky and had 2 carriers on a planet near Coruscant. Loaded them with fighters, put Han and Chewie on them, and attacked. The ISD fled after the TIEs died. Sab the shields while the medium transports head to Coruscant. Invade, win.

I cheated though. I wanted to get a quick win, so I constantly restarted until I got this setup. Took me 7 or so tries.

Even with seven attempts, that's a damn good setup. I can count the number of times I've started with two carriers over the years on my hand.

Is there a thread or FAQ that details the starting ship (outside of the SD over Coruscant and transport over the Rebel HQ) assignment?

I doubt it Fel. It's completely random, at least so far as I can tell and I've been playing since shortly after the game came out. Edited by Mitth_raw_nuruodo

There should be a list in the game files somewhere, from which the game 'randomly' generates the starting conditions. By random, I mean a series of mathematical formulas that determines... well, you get the idea. It isn't really random, but about as close as a program can get. Taking into account the difficulty level, of course.

I have no clue how to go about editing that file though. Would be interesting to do, but since I've not seen any mods that do so, I suspect either nobody knows how, or its hardcoded.

wow that's like 17000 more than I used on my longest game! Good job!

I tend to get impatient after 4000+ days, at that point I just gather my super-fleets and hit all rebel strongholds at the same time

First, nice to be back.

To answer the question: I spent time fooling around with the settings on RebEd, and I noticed that if you lower a unit's Refined Materials Cost, you'll have more of them. Therefore, I have come to believe that each side has a set amount of Refined Materials that is used randomly. Therefore, if Imps have 2 ISDs and 2 VSDs, chances are they will be otherwise bare.

53 days, but it was pure luck. I was playing Imps, HQ-only, 1P, Small, Novice. I had a VSD that started at Sluis Van and immediately sent it to Yavin. When it arrived, the Rebel HQ was there, completely undefended. I did a couple of Orbital Bombardments, and won.

My shortest game that actually required skill was 297... I was playing as the Rebels, and the planet that was under military control was in the Sesswenna sector. After I liberated it, every planet in the sector but Coruscant went to my control, giving me a perfect opportunity to strike.

I almost always play HQ only.
