  1. It seems possible, in theory, that you could find the .DLL or whichever of the EDATA or GDATA files governs initial setup, then remove the fleet regiments from said file. I haven't spent enough time messing with those files, however, so I can't point you to the proper location. If you're on Discord, I've gotten the impression that TruthRealm could likely point you in the right direction.
  2. I've seemed to check in every time the forums were in a read only state, then I'd leave for a year or three.
  3. How is is that in 22 years I only discovered 1 of these? Thank you, Strel!
  4. So my laptop, purchased in January 2006, has taken another turn for the scrap heap. Until such time as I can replace the hard drive and some form of optic drive (internal or external, though internal would be preferred), or I can afford to replace it outright, I won't be playing any PC based games. That being said, I have recently acquired Venetica and Assassin's Creed IV. Venetica was not very well made, but is still worth one play through (so far). My wife got it for me for my birthday, and gave it to me about 2.5 weeks early (the night it arrived). AC4 showed up about a week later, and Venetica got set aside. So far I am loving AC4. Nearly the entire map is open. You can go from running around on foot to jumping in the sea, swimming out to your ship, taking the wheel and sailing to the next destination without waiting for a loading screen. I think in my explorations so far there are only ~4 cities where you can't get directly from the sea to the city without game mechanics and loading in the way. Another neat feature in this one is their mini game management. Since Brotherhood (third AC title released) there has been some sort of mini game. Brotherhood and Revelations had you training your recruits, 3 and 4 have you trading as a way to earn additional gold. The switch in 4 is that you can manage your trade empire off console. I use my iPad because my compy is out of commission, and earn ~20k Reales overnight. I have a problem putting the controller down with this game. I got it the day it was released (never done that before), and ended up staying up until 1:30 the next morning. I had to work at 9:30 the next morning, and would have stayed up much later had my wife not noticed the time, so, yeah.
  5. I would say it denies the system to the Empire unless they want to expend additional effort.
  6. Not this time. I had enough challenges getting off the starting block this last time. Giving the AI such a colossal advantage from the start is like shooting yourself in the calf before a foot race. Yeah, you can still run if you can convince your body to release the right neurotransmitters, but it cripples you. Then there's the blood loss which just compounds the problem, and I'm assuming we missed all important nerves and blood vessels. Doing what you suggest, RogueIce, would be like going for both calves, and maybe adding a knife to the gut just for good measure. Still, maybe game three?
  7. Yes, but to do that I would need to use my wife's computer to create the iso file. I'll look into it this weekend.
  8. Thanks for the links. Did you happen to notice if there are any problems with the mods and the no CD crack? My optic drive doesn't currently work. I'd look myself, but I barely have time to be on here tonight.
  9. That would be my assumption, but I've never really paid attention to confirm or deny.
  10. I hadn't ever considered it until the other day. My only thought was HQ costs 1 energy point, so it should work.
  11. I haven't ever looked. If you find it I would be appreciative.
  12. I haven't ruled it out, and it will probably by my next Rebellion challenge. See if I can accomplish what Thrawn was prevented from as a result of betrayal.
  13. To my recollection it hasn't happened during one of my games. I would guess the same as what happens with fighter squadrons: they turn around. Thought: constantly move HQ from one Outer Rim previously un-colonized system to the next. You constantly have your HQ in transit making it safe, and you colonize system after system. All you have to do is send a few diplomats with a ~60+ diplomacy rating in the HQ's wake, and you have the full support of the Rim without having to wait for your CYs to get things built.
  14. You could print the Word doc as a PDF and upload that. I'm not sure what options there are for text formatting locks.
