  1. I only imported the files for Rebellion itself...not RebEd (or any other program for that matter). Should I have done RebEd?
  2. With RebEd, it's very easy to change research orders. However, this does not affect the research times of the ships/troops/buildings in question. Is there a way to change the amount of research needed for the ship/troop/building? I can't seem to find any clear answer on the forums after searching for about an hour. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hmmm...ok, never done this before and initially misunderstood what you were saying and merely copied/pasted the folder itself. Then I googled how to copy a registry and ran regedit and exported all the files I had hard installed on my old laptop and imported them on my new one. I still didn't have any luck trying to run RebEd though... anything you know of I did wrong there?
  4. Thanks for the reply Slocket. I'll copy/paste it from an old laptop I had hard installed it on and try that and let you know how it turns out.
  5. Well, I've got Windows Vista and have followed instructions found her to get it working. The game crashes after I go into the tactical simulator and finish the battle, but won't if I just simulate the battle without going in...I can live with that. I can skip the intros and all...but I can't seem to get RebEd working. I've downloaded the 2.0 stuff and used the 1.02 version to get around the "could not find CD problem". Also, I copied all of the files from my CD directly to computer instead of installing. How do I now get RebEd to realize Rebellion is there so that I can use it? Thanks for the help!
  6. I run Windows Vista... would following the instructions posted above also work for me? I'd much rather play Rebellion on my new laptop than my extremely old and slow laptop. Thanks for the help!
  7. Alright, finally got my CD back and have the full install now. Replaced some cards this morning and noticed that several had different names/misspellings that I didn't want, so I attempted to change them in textstra.dll but it didn't seem to have any effect. How do I go about fixing this? Edit: And just to be clear, I did "compile script" and save changes. I've even tried changing character names under "admiral" and "general" but it still won't change them, even when I promote them. Any thoughts?
  8. Huh. I tried it as you recommended and it worked at intended. I think there may be a bug when the AI assaults one of your own planets, though, but it's a bit hard to tell without doing a longer test. Maybe I'll try it sometime. Thanks for the help!
  9. Hmm...that's interesting. I have not observed that to be the case during my games, although up to recently I've just put two GenCores on each planet w/out other defenses. But recently I've tried putting defenses on planets and noticed when I've got either a KDY or LNR, but no troops, and the planet is assaulted I still don't destroy any enemy troops. Do you have to have troops on the planet for these to actually kill some of the opposing troops? Thanks again!
  10. Is there any way to change planetary defenses to have them fire not only when ships try to bombard, but also when a planetary assault takes place? After all, guys wouldn't sit there with guns and not try to shot down the transports... Thanks in advance!
  11. Thanks for the response! What if I were able to replace the bitmap through resource hacker? Would replacing that image work in game? And with the techs, I'm actually trying to slow them down... too bad. Wish LucasArts had made the AI smarter, but I guess I'll just have to try to compensate. Rebellion could truly be a fantastic game if they had worked a bit more on it and made it use less mouse clicks. Thanks again for the help!
  12. Ok, so I've been perusing these forums for some time and lately have been trying to edit the game. Finally had some moderate success with rebed and the resource hacker and feel like I've grasped the very basics. However, I have a problem with replacing cards. I don't have a full version installed right now so rebed won't let me replace cards, and I won't be able to install the full version for another 2 weeks as my brother has the CD and he won't be able to bring it back until then. Is there a way to replace cards without going through rebed? If so, how? And off topic, if anyone wants to answer these questions I'd be appreciative... 1) Is there any way to change the length of time it takes to research things? For example, I've noticed that if you make only one troop buildable at the beginning of the game (thus have to research 4 types of troops), the 4 troops will come in the same time that it would take to research 3 (if alliance) or 2 (if Imperial). This defeats the purpose as I often research the first troop before turn 40 w/out having anyone researching troop tech. 2) Is there any way to change how aggressive the AI is? (besides modifying costs in rebed) Thanks in advance!
