  1. Sorry if this is a repeated question, but I couldn't see a straight answer anywhere.. I have a vanilla install of just SOSE - what updates and/or expansion packs do I need to use the mod?
  2. Hey Dave. I ca't imagine it's still active in any way, but the old MSN gaming zone usually had some hardcore people hanging out in it up for some modified games (never taking it off medium for example).
  3. I played SOSE for the first time last night - it was sooooo slooooow. Maybe I had the wrong settings, but I thought I picked the largest map I could, with the fastest resources and all that jazz and it was not all that fun. I wanted to do a skirmish on the vanilla game before tryng SOGE, so I'll be trying the mod tonight maybe. I'm not sure if the mod can fix the gameplay I didn't like though...
  4. Cool. I picked it up for $10, so if it doesn't work out I won't be heartbroken.
  5. Hi guys! I'm actually an old lurker of this forum from maybe... 6-7 years ago - no one you'd remember. I recognize Evaders but not anyone else, sorry. Anyway, my cousin and I fired up Rebellion the night before his bachelor party while we were hanging out and had a great deal of fun playing it as a drinking game (any construction-capable building, person captured or killed, capital ship sabotaged, or planet lost was a shot). I remembered the Warlords mod, so I bought Homeworld 2 and installed it and had some fun playing it. I'm hoping to recapture some of the magic of Rebellion in a newer game I don't have to run in VM The models in it are fantastic, and it's tremendous work. I have some different design opinions from the author (like the insane number of ships) - but I don't mean my criticism to be harsh, he/they did a great job and I'm very grateful. I'm a programmer by day - I'm searching for a new job soon, I'm doing side projects to land my dream job so my free time is on the short side... but depending on my free time, the owner's licensing of the mod (e.g. can I look at the source?), and how complex the modding system is - I'd like to see how the mod works under-the-covers - maybe if something is irking me I can change it so my cousin and I can pull off another fun gaming session. Then I saw SOGE. I've never heard of the game, and before I spend $40 on it, I'm hoping people can fill me in on it. I looked at their site and couldn't get a good feel for how the game played... Can you give me some analogies? Is it like Rebellion where there's a map, but a 3D combat 'zone' you move into? Or is it strictly Homeworld 2 - a 3D map and you do your construction/fighting inside it? Anyway, thanks for all your time and effort in keeping this site running. As I get older and more and more things change, it's nice to see some of the old haunts to still be around.
