  2. Hey Mark, I'm trying to get back into galsim on a new computer but am having a bit of trouble. I'm not sure which file specifically I need to download from java. I tried just getting JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT 6 Update 7 but I'm not sure if that works. I can't change the galsim.bat file from a txt document so I'm pretty lost. I wish I knew more about computers but I'm pretty clueless, thanks for the help in advance.

  4. Is there a different way to order units with this new system? I have had my leader with order units order for a day now and nothing has happened except it running out of fuel.
  5. I like how multidimensional this looks, much better then just having a single resource. I am a little curious about a few of the planet relationship aspects. -Are there any aligned planets/home planets? I really liked how EVR allowed you to carve out your own empire and expand. -What if you have a base set up in a planets sector and an enemy attacks? You are forced to defend, yet defending the planet lowers your relationship with it? -Are Mining Structures, Chemical Planets ect all on the planet or in space as well?
  6. I like that idea a lot since it would allow fighters/bombers to remain in the fight longer, saving some of their ammo for later. The one thing I'm concerned about is would this changed rate of fire hurt the capital ships with missiles to much? For example, a Bothan Assault Cruiser has 20 PT Tubes. so with the change it would go from firing 200 PTs a turn to 40 PTs a turn. Also, I'm still pushing for that damage increase on missiles.
  7. Hey everyone. I'm a little disappointed in the performance of ordinances, so here is my analysis on what I have encountered in regards to the Proton Torpedo. If anyone has data or an opinion of their own please share it. I'm also curious how the concussion missile preforms. Hit Rate: -87 Torpedoes were fired of which 74 Hit. This is roughly an 85% hit rate. I think this is a fairly good hit rate for a ship of this size, no complaints. Damage: -The enemy MC40 lost 5% of 105774 Hull Hit Points so 5289 damage -74 Torpedoes hit so it comes out to be 71 damage per hit. -In Order to kill 100,000 worth of hull points it would take 1409 PT hits, so assuming 85% accuracy, 1658 PTs would need to be fired at the target or 185 XJW (Cost 126484), 104 BW (Cost 51168), or 119 EW (Cost 49504) I personally believe that torpedoes need to play a larger role, especially since they are a limited weapon. Right now everyone's ship is just producing weapons, but in the future these weapons will need to be crafted, moved to the front line, and loaded on ships. To account for this added trouble in loading ships with weapons, I propose one of the following Ideas: Idea One: Simply Up the Damage of the PT If the damage were doubled, I believe that the PT would become a truly viable tactic. Essentially it would make it so 5 squadrons of BW (60) fighters, could take down an MC40 or equivalent ships. With the current hordes of fighters, 60 BWs sounds like nothing but to load them all to capacity would take me 226 cycles or 32 Hours. Idea Two: Up the Damage of the PT Significantly but Make Them Hit Shields Proton Torpedoes, in most books, games ect I've seen do not go through the shields necessarily. If the PT were made to be a weapon like the other ones which doesn't automatically penetrate the shield the damage would have to be increased by 3x or 4x.
  8. Hey sorry my post sounded a little snippy. I was just a little shocked at the results is all. I'll work on proposing what to do. Also, when I asked if I was missing anything I meant if there was some armor rating capital ships have or something, but it came off a little bad .
  9. I had 74 Proton Torpedo Hits against an MC40 and only caused 5% damage (roughly 5500 Hull Damage). That means in order to kill an MC40 in a single salvo I would need 500 XJWs or 1500 PT to all hit the target. Or to kill it using Proton Torpedoes only I would need 167 XJW to hit with every single one of their torpedoes. Is there something I'm missing or is this working as intended?

  12. They were in Escort mode so thats why they didn't fire. However, what is the point of escorting a ship if they sit there and watch it die?
  13. Yah that was my AFRG . I went to bed around midnight my time, woke up and my whole fleet was gone. I'm a big fan of having the battles last a little bit longer seeing as I've never actually been present for my ships being attacked . Also, I'm not sure if my fighters even moved or fired during the battle or just died. Edit: Also, for some reason my bookmark for the home page isn't working. Is there a new address or something?
  14. Yah I noticed the same thing. I had my ships target fighters and they went all over the place . Also, just for something new, would anyone want to do a team battle, something small like 3v3 or even 2v2? I just want to see if its possible to coordinate with there turns flying around so fast. Also, might be nice to not always see three times as many red ships as you have, even if they are all against each other. Also, I'm confused as to how movement per cycle works. For sublight speed, if a ship has a max speed of 600 m/s can it go 600m in a cycle? Same for turn rate, 65 deg/s= 65deg/cycle? As for lightspeed, if a ship has a jump speed of 3xL what does that mean? Also, how does Jump Calc Time factor in?
  15. Hey just wanted to say that I love what I've seen so far. I know it's stupid, but I love being able to name each fighter. Also the fact that the destroyed ships still appear on the map adds a cool dimension as well. Just out of curiosity, is it everyone vs everyone, just testing combat? Or are there are alliances ect? I've seen both neuteral and enemy ships so far and didn't know who to shoot at.
