  1. Just so everyone knows I am still playing, I don't turn on MSN a lot (just to find a game mostly) but I am on hamachi in the swrebellion12 room which Klamp is also in. You can add stephen@jennings.org on msn or message me on here. I have a couple active games going currently but still a few open save slots . Oh yea, I also have voice chat setup (Skype) and prefer to play people while talking on it as it completely owns sending those text messages back and forth.
  2. I remember there are a lot of scenarios around where the AI starts with huge advantages... most of which are downloadable on this site I believe. The one I remember was when you start with like one planet and the AI has the entire galaxy. Stuff like that can make the game feel challenging for a while .
  3. Every game the players set their own rules but a few I have found used pretty commonly are: 1.) No suncrushing planets (General bombardment until all of the planets resource and build slots are eliminated, creates a bunch of completely worthless planets. 2.) No Ghost Fleeting. But yea, multiplayer games usually involve a lot more carnage than single player and you have to think out missions much more carefully as well as not keep your characters on a mission too long.
  4. I had a friend who was having this problem as well and for a few years we played we just had to simulate the combat which kinda sucked. However we have since found a good solution and he runs a Virtual Machine on his Windows Vista system that operates with Windows XP. So whenever we want to play now we can do all the fleet battles and stuff he just turns on his virtual machine (on his Vista machine) hamachi, and we turn on skype to talk as we play. It works great! Anyway, you can get a virtual pc setup pretty easily, just need a copy of windows to install (well you have to make an image of it to use on the virtual machine to setup the easiest) and some space to set aside from the machine. Just google for microsoft's virtual pc thing.
  5. Is there any fix to allow you to skip the droids on Vista? I have Rebellion running on my laptop on Vista and that can be annoying at the start. Other than that it would be GREAT if someone could figure out how to get tactical combat to work on Vista. Whenever I play a friend on network or via hamachi if either of us is using a Vista computer we can't do tactical combat as we will only see fighters and not capital ships during it. Though, ironically, we will see the lasers fired from the capital ships...just can't give them manual attack orders or see their stats. Actually my friend has had this same problem on XP, which is bummer because fleet battles in multiplayer are much more fun to fight out in tactical.
  6. well if you leave your bombers in the escort carriers and then deploy them once the enemy fighters are dead there safe. Leave them in by giving them no orders... .
  7. I remember reading about using anvil to chase ships escaping before to catch them for pot shots however when I use it I haven't managed to catch them yet. Maybe I should used it with right hook .
  8. someone complained about this already before... you have to go to the FOLDER you install RebEd in and click the exe link there... so that will require knowledge of Windows explorer or a similiar program which you hopefully have .
  9. its amazing what you find on google when you search for yourself . I've discovered some old gaming websites I made from a long time ago that way .
  10. I still don't understand all the formations/manuevers stuff... I have noticed with alot of fighters surrond generally works really well... its stupid to have fighters standoff unless their bombers your trying to protect...besides swarm looks way cooler . I think the attack patterns just determine how your fleet spreads out since ships automatically turn to fire from the best side they can(the side they have the most guns on, or the best guns on) so essentially your either ordering your fighter wing/capital ship group up, down, left or right... so if your trying to surrond maybe send half of your ships left and half right. Hopefully an expert on the subject will reply shortly .
  11. It really depends... if you have alot of fighters then you need some escorts to utilize some of them on offensive. But if you stay clear of fighters and get alot of carracks/lancers then you don't. Both strats work... with the relatively weak Imperial fighters earlier on capitals is probably a better bet but I'd go with some fighters first to have something for defense before some capitals finish building. (Or just make carracks on any planets that start with 2 shipyards) I've gone mass carracks before... and I've also gone escort/fighter route (once with 104 fighters in my fleet) both work multiplayer... fighters you have to mix better though (getting some bombers to do damage once your other fighters clear their fighters). So take your pick... whatever your more comfortable with... carracks are less work probably . Sometimes I just don't get bombers orders at the start until I kill the enemy fighters... that only works if the enemy doesn't notice what your doing though. Dancing around on waypoints doesn't sound like a bad idea... too bad waypoints mostly give me headaches .
  12. For clarification when Evaders says they can be injuried but not killed by an assassination Evaders is referring to Major characters as minor characters can of course be clicked by assassination attemps .
  13. None of them... as of yet I've convinced myyself consules aren't worth buying.
  14. First off when you open your facility window to build stuff you can set a "destanation" so you can build shipyards on one planet that are sent to another upon completion. That's how you get stuff on planets without construction yards . If its says NA then the planet your trying to build on is max energy so it can't hold anymore buildings. You either need to scrap some or else set destination to another planet and build stuff there. When you select multiple agents and put them on a mission the left bar shows them and the mission, if you click on the thing to the right of it you get two columns... characters in the right column are decoys and the left doing the mission. Select a character and use the arrows to move them between the columns until you get what you want. Also if your so rusty, might be fun to play ya online .
  15. Actually properly protected 12 tie bombers can really knock some holes in a rebel fleet... just gotta take out the enemy fighters first and watch those bombs blast holes through'em .
