  1. I have tried to add further characters to Kurukaze's additional 2. I followed his lead by adding the BMP's to all the .DLL's referred to above. However, I can't work out the .DAT file as Hex editing is my weakness. I have tried to work out how to use Hexplorer referred to in the post linked above. I now realise I don't know where to start with a Hex editor. I appreciate that everyone who can, would be more than happy to explain how, but I really can't get it. Working on the assumption that all the additonal bitmap pictures have been added to the next available slots as Mara Jade and Kyle Katarn, (6747 & 6813) is there anyway someone could mod the character .DAT file so this can be downloadable and just dropped in to enable 34 characters or above? If you really need editing experience then I'm going to have to make do.
  2. Oh Ok. I thought that if you could have been able to move existing recon forces into the backgound (like Mara and Kyle) in the demo, then RebEd could have been used to change the role of the new (replacement spec forces) The only other way to do it then is to make a generic recon force that both sides can build and then use the now vacant slot for another generic force supplementing then existing resources. C'est la vie. P.S. I for one could handle not having the graphic of a army unit shown in the tactical battle just to have the ability to have more units to build. However, you've already proved that the new characters are do-able, so keep up the good work!!!
  3. Hi. I was just wondering how Kurukaze has been going on with his experiments to include more regiments/spec forces etc. I appreciate that this is a time consuming job and difficult job and as someone who has no programming experience I'm not going to be critical in any way. The more characters that can be added the better. If there was the option to add new special forces, then may I suggest that the recon options for the Rebels and the Empire be made the additonal forces. These forces don't tend to be modifed much. This would then free up 2 slots that are currently editable in RedEd to add other forces that may or may not be for the use of both sides. e.g. "Black Sun Spies" for Espionage, that are quick to build for both sides, but very, very expensive, low combat values (they get paid for information, not to die), and reasonable espionage figures. This would be offset by a high maintenance value. Long term you would be best with your own Spies. Both the existing espionage slots would then be filled with side specific Spies that are cheap to maintain, provide better intelligence (higher value), and are willing to fight it out more (higher combat figure) but take much longer to train (build) The second "now available" slot could also be available to both sides. e.g. a "Bounty Hunters Guild" slot. Their usage could be tweaked to suit the user, from a better (but much more expensive and quickly available) version of the Noghri Death commandos abducting more powerful characters, or sabotaging facilities - take your pick. Anyway, if Kurukaze can post a brief update of his successes/failures to add more units I'd appreciate it. Happy Christmas everyone. Mike
  4. Huh Not knowing what your talking about, I think your referring to some sort of spyware in the R1.01 update, but being totally illiterate when it comes to the workings of computers I'm really not sure. Can you please expand on your cryptic note with a little more info please That way i will know if I'm way off the mark or not.
  5. Thanks. I didn't want to come across as pushy about it. Any changes just make the game more enjoyable. Keep up the good work.
  6. In the Download Public BETA thread raised by Lord_La_Forge there is a quote from The Mask which mentions an Optional Music Pack (100MB) to by released the day after the reloaded beta. Is this on the backburner for now?
  7. I'm relatively happy with the playability. It seems harder than the original. I've only really played as Remnant. But then again this is a good thing. The research rate is a little slow. Especially for the ships. I think that the Remnant need one more researcher, preferrable with more than one ability. Also, there seems to be a lot more characters that cannot be allocated rank i.e. Admiral. This wouldn't be much of a problem, but the leadership value is subsequently low. This means that characters are better off being used as decoys at the special forces go in (the special forces have higher leadership values), because their too thick to be of any real use. This is probably due to too much of a variance in their strengths. Other than this , loving it. Mike
  8. Despite installation problems i've had regarding the cards and planet locations i've discussed elsewhere, I've wondered about the Roche Asteroids system. Along with tweaks to the images of Tattooine, Hoth, Bespin, Mon Calamari and Kessel, I changed the image for Roche Asteroids to the Kessel image using RedEd. It got me thinking. There are at least 8 earthlike planets of various landmasses, cloud cover and size. If we could replace one with the destroyed planet icon, it could be used for this system. Also, personal preferance obviously, but I'd like to see the Maw Cluster feature near Kessel. It could be colonised by the brave, (realistic in light of The Maw Installation from the books) A system showing seven black holes of various sizes would be required though.
  9. Yavin and Coruscant appeared, but since I read one of the other threads about loading .reb file before running the install, the planets are all correct. The encyc. files descriptions are all wrong though. the Character names are correct so i'm ignoring it though.
  10. Thanks Tex. I will be careful.
  11. Just built my first Golan III and it looks great. Problem :- They can be moved from planet to planet (including right across the galaxy in 1 day) Had a look at RebEd and the Hyperdrive and manoeuvrablity are both set at 1. If you overwrite them to 0 they auto adjust in seconds. Didn't someone have an old patch that you had to run to make a ship immobile during
  12. There are two planets, one called Mon Calamari and one called Mon Cala...something or other.. One in the top right, and one in the bottom left. I'm not at home so i can't tell which sectors. Once the reloaded team know why they are having problems with planets names this will be resolved no doubt.
  13. Scarlet I competely uninstalled Supremacy. I found that it crashed when i first loaded it, but I installed R1.01 update first. I also linked to my existing Resource Hacker during the install. Second time i didn't install the r1.01 update, and selected the resource hacker in the rebellion reloaded beta directory instead. Once i'd loaded the .reb file using RebEdit and clicked on the movie registry file it worked OK. Hope you get it sorted.
  14. Can't speak for most of Mitth_raw_nuruodo's post, but one things for sure at the start of the game. The location that the rebs are starting from is intended to be Coruscant. The planet icon on mine has changed to the icon that was for Coruscant. I naturally assumed that we would find that Wayland was Joruus' seat of power. If you look the icon should no longer be Coruscant. Just bear in mind this is a beta, and that there are obviously things happening that i) the design team weren't expecting ii) there are things they haven't even addressed yet. That's way they've asked us to report glitches anyway. Still, the game has enough in it to keep me more than occupied at the moment. Roll on next beta.
  15. First off, sorry I posted this on the Beta Tester Member's List. Anyway.... Firstly let me say "I love the effort and work that the reloaded team have done." I know this is a beta so here come a some observations for tweaks. I don't know if this is how it is intended, or some glitch in my install but no doubt someone will let me know. A game playing issue with the accurate locations of Coruscant and Wayland is that they are relatively close together. When playing the Imperials, with C'Boath recruiting on Wayland without any other characters in the vacinity early in the game he has been abducted twice from Coruscant, I assume by Han and/or Luke. This may lead a few boring games. The sector names have changed OK. The planet names are still in their original state so instead of starting points being Coruscant for the NR and Wayland for Imperials they are still listed as Yavin and Coruscant. The planetary icons for them however have changed. This must be a glitch with the installer and the TEXTSTRA.dll file. Also, changing "Admiral Thrawn" to "Grand Admiral Thrawn" in TEXTSTRA.dll (2377,1033,38017) may be a nice touch. The new logo movie for the intro works fine and the "in game" audio does have all the reloaded team voices in. Some are a little quiet though. Maybe the volume can be increased in later beta releases. The animation for the Mon Calamari Guide works really well, although Threepio pops up from time to time. Just a thought on the intro NR movie. As the rebels are in possession of Coruscant at the start of the game, why not (for the next beta) copy MDATA.103 (the invasion of Coruscant) into that slot. It sort of fits. The picture that pops up when a fleet battle is about to commence does make seeing the ships you have at your disposal for the battle a little difficult to see. This may be better in greyscale. Just to reiterate. I love reloaded It has given new life to the game and I look forward to further beta releases before the FULL release.
