  1. Actually its a known and canon fact that weapons can be manufactured with replicators (The TR-113 Rifle which featured in Deep Space Nine only exists as a replicator pattern, until you ask a replicator to make you one). Many parts for ships are replicated, the only thing that is impossible for a ferengi replicator to make is latinum, hence its use as currency.
  2. Lol... Yeah, lets bring back all our literary pursuits. Anyway, Ferengi have replicators. Ferengi sell replicators to the Trade Federation. Trade Federation uses replicators to build more replicators... and battle droids. As if Battle droids weren't considered expendable already. (Replicates a platoon) If the Seperatist droid army could double in size within a month, (Replicates another platoon) how quickly could the Trade Federation Droid army double in size (Replicates another platoon).
  3. Actually the thing with Jacen post Traitor was that he started obeying what he saw as the will of the force... That makes him a servant, and as Mara Jade has stated a couple times, the essence of the light side of the force is service to others. The essence of the dark side of the force is selfishness, and he never once struck me as being selfish after Traitor, if anything he seemed more selfish before his semi-apprentice hood with Vergere. Dark Nest utterly smashed a number of relationships and completely misinterpreted the Chiss Ascendancy and Empire of the Hand. Moreover I think the way the rebirth of the sith order is handled is absolutely dreadful, and the portrayal of the post-vong environment and structure of the GFFA is simply wrong. Cal Omas is I think defined by Destiny's Way, and from that point on his entire character and his goals were completely ignored by everybody. Where is this new era of federalism that he's pushing for? The wisdom you could feel and the sense that this was a man who knew that the weight of trillions of lives lay upon his shoulders. It's just gone. Moreover the outbreak of the GFFA civil war and the rise of the sith happens WAY TO FAST. They just got through a full scale war with the vong, no one is going to be capable of full-scale military conflict for decades... It's like no one in Lucas Licensing looked at the plot and thought... hmm, shouldn't the jedi get a little breather? A new threat or a sith return would have been fine, but they should have kept it low-scale... a simmering pot instead of a full blown pressure cooker.
  4. Personally I think the writers have epically mismanaged the post-vong era. They took the most ethically centered and pacifistic character of the Vong War (Jacen) and made him a sith... Those two plots do not mesh, and the complete failure of the writers to understand the separation of the Empire of the Hand and the Chiss Ascendancy is downright criminal. To my mind they need to declare the entire series of books from Dark Nest onward to be infinites type non-canon, there was such a wealth of options for new storylines in the post vong environment I'm forced to wonder how dumb they have to be for the maddening plotline they came up with.
  5. Star Trek vs. Star Wars: In Pursuit of Profit Part II Onboard the Paris Captain Daniel Sanchez drummed his fingers on the side of his command chair, "Navigation, report?" The Vulcan female that was his science officer didn't even look up from the display as she answered. "Our star-charts are off sir, and even when I've restored them from our database they remain inconsistent with observed stellar positions." "Theories?" Captain Sanchez asked quietly. "We may be caught in an area of unusual gravitational fluctuation, the lensing effect of significant dark matter gravitational anomalies would dramatically alter the observed positions of the stars." The Vulcan officer suggested as she turned to the captain. "The only other possibility would be that the stars themselves suddenly moved, and that is not a logical conclusion." "Agreed, and an area of dark matter gravitational anomalies would make for an excellent hiding spot for our Ferengi friend." Captain Sanchez leaned back in his seat. "Helm, lay in a pursuit course on that marauder. Maybe we can catch him before he meets up with his, customers." "Aye sir, setting course, warp three." "Engage." Captain Sanchez said briskly from the command chair. * * * With a hiss the immaculate figure of Viceroy Nute Gunray stepped onto the hanger deck, flanked by OOM-9, a dedicated command droid and a team of four guards. As the Viceroy stepped into the hangar, those droids that had been studying the Ferengi and his ship hurried to come to attention for their leader. Slowly Nute looked up at the red brown hull of the ferengi vessel and nodded to himself, "You have an impressive ship Captain. I assume that with a design such as that it has ample cargo capacity for a vessel its size." "Yes Viceroy, all the better to ensure the profitability of our ventures. Though..." The Ferengi glanced around the cavernous hangar of the Trade Federation vessel. "Your vessel dwarfs ours in that respect." "Of course," The Viceroy answered as a neimodian smile slid across his face. The expression slowly changed to one of curiosity, "May I ask why you are out here in this rather desolate patch of space." Captain Tron smiled coldly, "Well Viceroy, we were her to meet with a buyer for some goods... we recently came across in our travels. He is late, and I fear may have backed out on the deal. But now, our meeting may allow me to recoup some of those losses." The Viceroy nodded, this Ferengi had been here for a business dealing, much the same reason he had been present at the coordinates. "That is quite understandable perhaps the product you wished to offload would be something our great trade federation would be interested in." Captain Tron shook his head, "Just some commercial matter replicators. Nothing really fancy." The Neimodian felt his brow rise at the term, matter replicators? If they were what they sounded like, they'd be a boon the federation. "Perhaps we can discuss these replicators in private." He glanced at OOM-9, "Prepare a meeting room." "Roger roger." * * * Captain Sanchez, sat back in his command chair as the light streaks shot past the ship. Suddenly the sensor officer looked up from his display, "Captain, the Ferengi's impulse trail peters out and I'm detecting a vessel at the location the trail goes away. Unknown configuration." "On screen, maximum magnification." Captain Sanchez ordered as he stood up. The view-screen flashed as it switched to a detailed image of a ship, some three kilometers long shaped like a doughnut with a central bulb and a portion cut away that he could only assume to be the vessel's front. As he starred at the image something in the ship's hangar caught his eye. "Magnify and enhance, focus on what looks like a hangar there." Then as the image shifted he recognized the wing of a Ferengi Marauder peeking out from the hangar doors. He stopped and starred at the image for a moment. "Sensors, scan the unknown vessel. Helm plot a 12 AU orbital course, keep us at warp." "Aye sir." "Sensor are detecting at least two seperate power generation systems in the vessel. It's hull seems to be composed of an unknown composite. Her primary engine systems appear to be Ion Drives. No sign of a warp core or warp drive, nor any sign of subspace sensor systems. I'm also picking ups some strange subspace transmissions however, perhaps a sort of communications signal." The sensor officer turned to her captain. "Sir if the enemy lacks subspace sensors we will remain completely undetected so long as our velocity exceeds the speed of light." "Thank you lieutenant, and so long as that ferengi bird is in that ship's hangar, her sensors can't detect us either." A slight smile slid across Sanchez's face. "I didn't think we'd get a first contact situation b y chasing ferengi thieves, perhaps we should give chase more often. Let's sit back and watch." * * * Captain Tron followed his Neimodian host into a small meeting room, flanked by those insectoid robots that seemed to be the dominate form of life on this ship, if robots could be called a form of life. As the doors hissed shut behind him the Neimodian turned and slid into one of the elegant black chairs that was the focus of the room. As he did so the robots left, save for a single droid painted with yellow markings. "Captain, I've heard of many different technologies in this galaxy, but I've yet to encounter a race with these 'matter replicators'. Please describe them." Tron blinked, and his ferengi lobes throbbed with surprise, "Well Viceroy, a matter replicator is a device that... converts energy to mass and assembles it into desirable components, items, or foods. All this is done in a matter of seconds for complex items, milliseconds for simple ones." Slowly he reached into his pocket, "Would you like a demonstration?" "Certainly, I could send some droids to assist you in moving this replicator..." Tron smiled, his sharpened teeth silently slipping out of grinning mouth. "No need, I'll have it beamed here immediately..." Pulling a cylinder from his pocket he spoke into it, "Beam one of the transporters to my location." "Beam?" With a sparkling effect of golden lights a device suddenly appeared on the table before them, its lights glowing and active. With a slight smile the Ferengi leaned over the device and gave it an order. "Slug juice, chilled." With a flash of light the drink appeared on the replicator pad, cold and ready. The ferengi pulled the glass from the pad and took a sip. The Neimodian sat with his eyes wide at the device, "Tell me Captain, how much do you want for this little piece of technology... and how do you program in new items to be replicated?" * * * Onboard the Paris Captain Sanchez watched the enormous vessel rotate in space before him. Suddenly the sensor officer turned to him. "Captain, we've just picked up a transporter signature, from the particle streams composition I'd guess it to be a commercial transporter." Sanchez nodded, "Go to yellow alert... and hail the unknown vessel." After a moment the comm officer turned to the captain, "They're not responding? Orders captain?" "Red alert, I guess we'll have to get those transporters back from that latinum grubbing ferengi the hard way."
  6. There I got it working... now to open up RebEd and get it setup the way I want...
  7. After a long sabbatical I'm back... and working on more ST vs. SW fanfiction... so I figured I'd post in here... Sorry Cain but I think two universes are enough any more and it gets crazy.
  8. Well the stormtroopers lack the real combat experience the clones would be racking up in full scale engagement after engagement, and there's been hints that the Stormtroopers tended to have lower-quality training... not sure on that front. As for the Malevolence, ships classes are traditionally named after the first vessel of the type launched so the Malevolence is a Malevolence-class Star Cruiser (I say cruiser because its not nearly big enough to be a Battlecruiser or Dreadnaught). Did anyone else notice that there was a third Acclamator subclass visible in the background of the Malevolence battle, looked like an Acclamator with just a single primary thruster instead of the normal tail and cluster.
  9. Well I've got two things to say. Number 1! I'm back!!! Number 2! I want to play rebellion but I'm having major problems getting it running on my new-ish computer which is running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I fixed the Direct Draw problem, but now it doesn't detect the CD nor does RebEd detect its installation (I did it manually) I assume this has something to do with the game's registry, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
  10. "All hands, brace for turbulence." Such an insane maneuver and they were so business like about it.
  11. Okay... at least I think its the container that might be giving you problems. Another possibility is you didn't assign it the correct behaviors in the squad version. http://ror.250free.com/Downloads/Containers.rar
  12. Well I'm still working on a a tier system for the game... Whats done: Imperial Political Tiers Rebel Political Tiers Whats built but unscripted: Imperial Power Tiers Imperial Stormtrooper Recruitment Tree Rebel Power Tiers Rebel Fleettrooper Recruitment Tree Whats partially built: Imperial Economic Tiers Imperial Fleet Recruitment Tree Rebel Economic Tiers Sienar Fleet Systems Tech Tree What needs done: Allot
  13. You don't thave that problem if you program the container right. One problem you may have on city maps is units at the edge of formations going places that are impassable. Anyway... It'll be awhile yet before I get a working V0.4 of ROR. My modding energies were distracted by other games.
  14. Well, thanks to the forum's sudden loss of an enormous amount of work and posts I might as well get started with some ROR progress reports. I've just finished the recruitment tree for Imperial Stormtroopers... As some of you may already know each Branch (Imperial Stormtroopers, Imperial Army, Imperial Navy, Alliance SpecForce, Alliance Army, and Alliance Fleet) will have its own recruitment tree. This tree will include five tiers for the mainstream units, a split of branch of specialists, and their own commando team. For Example: Imperial Stormtrooper Branch: Basic Infantry: Imperial Stormtroopers Specialized Infantry: Imperial Storm Marines Commando Infantry: Imperial Storm Commandos I've also discovered something pretty interesting with the ground units while I was searching for a way to cut lag in the ground battles. It's possible to have armored units move and fight in formations (Squads like the Infantry). When you use the infantry locomoter it dramatically cuts down the amount of lag in ground battles and enables us to have much larger scale engagements. I'm planing on releasing a short modification to the basic game called EAW - Grand Battles or something along those lines to showcase the change and the dramatic increase in scale it makes available to us. Unfortunately I'm also going to have to make some dramatic changes as to how maps are designed to fully take advantage of this change... If you're familiar with the open environments that were in Total War, you should easily get an idea of what I want.
  15. Okay I've been thinking about the T-2B's performance and I was wondering which of the following armaments would you prefer? 4 Blaster Cannons (4 Shot burst with better armor penetration) - Or - 4 Autoblaster Cannons (12 Shot burst with poor armor penetration)
