  2. I like that article. Hell, If I can make $35,000/year and still get in a good 40 hours of gaming every week, I'm all for it. But it's true, people with larger incomes can do more stuff, go on vacations, travel, etc. As well, they have a lot more work to do which always sucks. I consider myself a gamer and...I watch tv? The only time I listen to the radio is in the morning when my alarm goes off. Some of that article is true while some of it is ridiculous.
  3. Heh, that was interesting the_mask. I made one planet(i think ghorman) have some of the same attributes as Coruscant in hopes to make Ghorman belong to the Empire at the start of the game. What I found was...unexpected. I thought I had deleted the planet when in fact it was behind Coruscant. I noticed the text for Coruscant was messed up and barely made out Ghorman. So much for that. I've spent hours & hours in those planet .dat files and was never figure out how to get one planet to belong to a certain side at the start of the game. I don't think it can even be done just with editing the .dat files since the .dat files contain static data. Very interesting vakundok. I never went into much detail as you did with those .dat files. I believe in the systemsd.dat file, the 2nd position which you said is to be unknown is actually what determines whether the planet is populated or if the game randomly generates if it's populated or not. It is always 1 but I believe if you change it to 0 the planet will be populated. I'm not to sure since it's been ages since I've played around in those .dat files. With those values you are putting up on the forum, it wouldn't be hard to make another editor for Rebellion. Sure it'd be the same as RebEd but it'd be new! Btw - if anyone wants my SWR patch, talk to me, or perhaps the_mask(if he allows). you'll be able to run SWR without the CD which allows for some good editing. Good luck guys!
  4. Did you test it out Pucho? I mean, in RebEd make a capital ship have an insane weapon recharge and see what happens? I always noticed how my ships always attacked the largest(and strongest) enemy ships first but I had no idea it was based on weapon recharge.
  5. Jahled confuses me, oh wait, he confusses me. haha.
  6. Has anyone else got .5 of a private message? I logged on tonight and found out I had 17.5 pm's.
  7. I noticed there were patterns in the .dat files about 2 years ago. My text file which had certain hex locations are long gone, unless I have them backed up on CD somewhere. I have also tried to add systems and sectors without success. The source code would be of great help. I mean, this game is going on 6 years and Lucasarts, being like they are, will probably never release the source, unless they can somehow make money off it. Vakundok is not alone with his expertise, I have C++, C, VB and hex experience so I can look around the files in hex code. But converting hex to C++....meh, I'm sure it could be done but it might take a while.
  8. dammit! i already posted a reply in the other topic. damn canadians always messing things up.
  9. I am also Canadian. Glad to know there's other Canadians out there besides me. Peace be wit ya mah brotha! lol
  10. Probably one of the most memorable quotes from Home Improvement. Don't you remember Al Borland saying to Tim when Tim had one of his great ideas, "I don't think so Tim."? I always say it to my friends and they're like "wtf did you call me?". If you don't know what Home Improvement is it was a uhh, what the hell do you call those shows? A series like Frasier or Friends. I forget. Anyways, it was a comedy with the main character being Tim Taylor who had his own show Tool Time. Tim was always looking for the latest and greatest way to add more power to his tools and it always backfired. Funny stuff.
  11. The amount of energy for a given planet is random and is probably determined by some algorithm. It's not in any of the .dat files as these files contain only data, not code. How RedEd is able to add construction yards and facilities to Coruscant, Yavin, and the HQ is beyond me. I've taken a look in the .dat file to see how it is done and found out that RebEd adds stuff to the .dat files. I'm not quite sure how they do this. I believe for the start-up facilities, RebEd edits the files: faclhqtb.dat and faclcrtb.dat. It seems that these files exist when the game is installed so editing any other system might be impossible. This would also explain why you can't edit the facilities for Yavin because of the absence of the faclyvtb.dat file. The GData folder also contains the files: cmuncrtb.dat, cmunhqtb.dat and cmunyvtb.dat. With these files present, you are able to edit the troops and fighters. So you ask, how then are we able to determine whether a system is populated or not? Because in hex code, the location where this data is located is either a 1 or a 0. A true or false. If a 0 is in the location, Rebellion randomly determines if the system is populated and how much energy the system has. If a 1 is in the location, Rebellion populates the system and since it is populated, the system energy is higher.
  12. Did you look for "Star Wars Rebellion" or just "Rebellion"? Anyway, here's the link to it, http://zone.msn.com/starwarsrebel/ Yeah, you're probably just blind, GonJon, good luck with your biz.
  13. http://www.zone.com <- they offer a place to play Rebellion, just click on "All Games" near the bottom left then look for "Star Wars Rebellion". I just checked and it was there.
  14. Nah, it's easy. Rebed is a fairly simple program so writing a troubleshooting guide would not be difficult. No, I'm not volunteering, I haven't used Rebed in over 2 years. I like to play the game as is.
  15. Nevermind, I checked the LucasArts website and since Windows XP isn't a "TRUE DOS" platform, TIE Fighter and X-Wing won't run. I should put together a real garbage computer so I can run older games . Damn XP.
