  1. In response to the OP, I'm stuck on the mission rescuing Aeron also. The same thing happens to me, all the messages say she's on board but the mission goal tab never goes green. I DO get the nav buoy though. I've got patch 2.02. I beat this game years ago when it came out & although I do remember this mission being tricky, I always used to beat it. It just really frustrates me now. I haven't played this in years but reinstalled the game for my nephews to play when they come over. I've looked at it in the AlliED editor & I can't find anything wrong with it. I can try waiting longer I suppose, but that doesn't make any sense. The Otana docking is a timer, "aeron" isn't a real craft, so she has no mission to complete in this level as someone else suggested. "Aeron" is just messages sent in timed delays while the Otana is docking in this board. Off topic....I was pretty good on the DS tunnel run, You don't have to go into the Laser Cannon area to deal with the Ties. When you hit the cargo container room, slow down a little, put your cannons on autofire and take them out! Then fly the rest of the mission. When you enter the room with the Zero G troopers & the cannon, Line up on that cannon & shoot it. Keep shooting it until it literally explodes (it's very durable!) and fly on. Don't worry so much about the Zero G guys. They may shoot at you but they're lousy shots and are so slow once you pass them you'll never see them again. Continue on to the last wide passageway, slow down, shoot all the obstacles you can shoot...in a few minutes you're going to be coming back through this area very fast! Go through the last tunnel, shoot the reactor core and throw all power to your engines. I always keep that setting well through the wide tunnel when exiting (no obstacles bc I shot them all). I slow down a little bit when I enter the first narrow pipe and from there adjust speed as I see fit. Bc I went through the first part so fast the fire is usually well behind me.
  2. I remember my game like that about 2-3 weeks ago was at 3600 days. I had made some early mistakes in the game due being rusty and not played in about 6-8 months and paid dearly and then built up from there. It took me about 8 or 9 days to beat it. I then played again but I played a much better game and beat it much quicker. I usually only build super, super fleets when I think the enemy has something that can trap it and beat it. This 2nd game I played I didn't have to build that big of a fleet. As I remember, I think I had 9 medium sized fleets running around.
  3. yeah, i am waiting for a massive counter attack and they did get my death star 3 days ago although i've already built another one. . the thing i'm really dissappointed in is that the ai is not building any cc 7700 frigates, or at least any that i've seen. so if i do get jumped by a superior force (oh yes, its happened quite a few times!) i just cut and run or stick around, wipe out 10-15% of his starfighters and then jet out.
  4. yes it is quite fun. i used reb ed to set ALL rebel ships to have only 1 maintenance point (i'm the empire). then i played the game as normal. i played a little bit last night ( 20 min) before bed but it was pretty uneventful. no big battles at all. i didn't even spot any of the comp's remaining bulwarks. i'll play alot tonight though. PS: this is so damn hard that we're on day 3600 and i would say i have only a slight advantage in the number of systems i control. haha it keeps me occupied though.... those rebels will learn!!!!
  5. Yeah, I just started playing as the empire again. setting the rebels up the way i did has led to some interesting tactics. they can control only 1 planet and still have 200+ ships. i invaded a world this morning that said its shipyard was building Bulwark battlecruiser #60! that's insane! i've killed about 20 of these beasts but that means there's at least 40 more. this is so much fun!
  6. yeah, i gotta go with SOCL's way of playing. its very possible to have a few systems under your belt and build many fleets like that and be able to afford it. Some games I build "Sector Fleets" to patrol & respond quick & a 3-4 super fleets to wreak havoc, but if I think the enemy is too strong, I will only commit a few resources to such fleets and spend the rest on 2-3 super, super fleets consisting of 100+ fighters and 3-5 SSDs & maybe a Death Star, that run thru every enemy planet in a system, invade it, garrison it, and will stick around long enough for the gen core 2s to be built, then i head to the next planet. Very slow, but it does work, and usually, I re arm the fleet while it is guarding a planet waiting for the gen cores. The size of my fleets alone make short work of any quick response fleets. If the fleets gets too banged up, I leave, get fixed up and come back later. The only thing I do with Rebed is enable all ships at the start of the game and make all opposing side ships only cost 1 maintenance point and I can still build these monster fleets.
  7. I'm new to this forum but I've been playing Rebellion since it came out. I play on hardest level, biggest galaxy. I almost always play as the rebels b/c I like their starfighters way better and the Dauntless as well. I used Rebed to enable all ships to be available at the start of the game and then I set the maintenence level for all Imperial ships to 1 wrench or whatever its called. I also made every system inhabited although I am thinking of changing this back. A few games after beating the hell out of the computer like this, I went into Reb Ed again. I drastically altered the carrying capacity of all Imperial ships. I have the ISD carrying 30 fighters and I have the SSD carrying about 99. I even let the little troop galleon carry 10 and that thing has no weapons! I have enjoyed many, many hours and days of playing and I guess it takes me about a week to beat the game like this. I have faced a few AI Death Stars but not too many. The game I am playing right now, I started the game and moved all personnel off Yavin, set the game to super fast and sat there. I spotted the AI 125 days and then started playing. At first, I was doing ok, I own most of the Northeast end of the galaxy but yesterday, the Empire struck back. They hit with a fleet that covered the entire tactical screen of star destroyers. I usually play with about 4 fleets with about 50-60 fighters and this Imperial fleet of 265 fighters and 6 SSDs as well wiped out 1 of my fleets and decimated 2 others. I live for this though, it makes the game so much more fun. I quickly built up the other fleets and am currently hunting this monster fleet which mostly just jumps system to system. I survive at the start of these types of games by ALWAYS keeping my fleets moving and picking at Imperial starfighters. I don't need to win any battles at first, just keep hurting their fighter capacity. I always have to take/own all 200 planets to find Vader & Palpatine. They're very elusive, especially Vader. The funny thing about this game though, is that I NEVER could figure out how to use a decoy on the sabotage missions and I never even bothered with the jedi junk. The instruction manual makes so much out of these things and I never bother with either.
