With this patch it is finally possible to use your own smacker movie sequences and music in the game. Works with all versions of the game. A readme is included in the program. moviepatch_final.zip
  4. Golly, that seemed like time tr... Oh, deja vu
  5. *does a brief Kosh appearance* ... yes ... Read the stuff, we pioneers wrote back then. All you need to know, is there. Hm ? Alright, models and textures are stored in the Tactical.dll. Your original on the CD still holds the original models
  6. Did you have the original Rebellion CD in the drive, where you installed the game from ? If so, is it scratched, or can you manually copy the MDATA files with the explorer to your harddrive without problems ?
  7. No, we did not hand out a crack, period. A crack enables you to play a game you don't legally own, since for example you don't have the original cd, run afoul of copy protection, etc... The installer requires you to have the original Rebellion cd and checks the game exe for that in some places (no, not all, before some smart-alek asks...). The C code overwrites a few bytes in the .exe and generates specific registry files for your installation, to point it to the harddrive for playing the movies. Sheesh, I've heard nobody talking about a crack with mods like Freeworlds and from what I saw, that part of the mod wasn't necessary the way this game is set up
  8. Folks, first of all in the name of the whole R:R team, thanks for the praises We're glad those of you, that already got working like what did. For those that have problems, I just made a sticky thread in this forum. Solved problems will be posted there. About Kuat, well if the installation goes as planned there should be a Kuat sector, right next to Core worlds and Corellia with the planet Kuat innit ALSO: the setup creates a logfile.txt, where it notes all the steps taken during the installation, as well as any errors, that might occur. 0_o ? You sure this was my house ?
  9. Ok, I'll collect some Q & As in this thread, to help along with any problems you might have. Once something's resolved, the question and the answer will be put into this post and the ones relating to that get deleted. First of all: read the readme file at the beginning and do exactly as it says. Most problems will be solved by this already. Q: I can't load the .reb file, RebEd complains that it needs a more recent version. A: You need to put the .reb file (cards folder) into the RebEd folder, before trying to load it. The "newer" version thing always comes up, if your dllentries.txt file and the one of the mod creator don't exactly match. The cards get loaded anyway. Q: Why can't I see any new cutscenes ? A: As the installer says at the end, you need to run the enable_movie_patch.reg file. This can't be done automatically for you, since RebEd would not let you load the .reb file afterwards. Hence, the setup creates a enable_loading_RebEd_cards.reg Q: I have problems getting it (and the game) to run under Vista... A: Sorry, none of the team has Vista (IIRC, we're all running XP) and I for one am not planning to get it, as I find it too restrictive. However, budious made a thread called Windows Vista and Rebellion in the General Discussion forum Q: Does the installer have to be this complicated ? A: Believe me, you only see the tip of the iceberg. This thing, among other stuff, automatically creates necessary files exactly for your PC, for example. There's also a lot of safety checks in it and we were not allowed, to ship things like Resource Hacker with our TC, either. All in all, things are automated as much as possible right now, but I am working on fine-tuning it. Q: Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse ........ in Modul 'setup.exe'. Lesen von Adresse ......... -> access violation at address .... in module 'setup.exe'. Reading from address .... A: That's German for "the Vogons are about to level earth". Ok, maybe it just means you have to shut down your vmware background process in the taskmanager. Q: Planet x is not at the correct position. A: This is what ate up nearly all my free time for the last two weeks before the release. If you look at the Corellian system, you might get an idea of the tool I have been writing to counter this. However, this does not fully work yet and so I had to make do with the positions of the original planets and could only move the sectors around in RebEd I used the nav-computer.com map and one that's based on it, as this was the best available source for a canon layout. Some of the planet positions are ... stretched ... but there's only 20 sectors in Rebellion either and I wanted to have as many recognizable planets in there as possible. Q: Ok, but the encyclopedia info for some of the planets is still wrong. A: Yup. Since I worked up to the last minute before release on the galaxy layout, the encyclopedia entries will be fixed later on. If you don't know any of the planets, try the CUSWE. Q: I swear there are the voices of some of the Reloaded team members in this TC, along with the ones from swr members in the tactical mode. A: Really ? *g* Well, I'm sure the cast will be updated for each correct guess. Q: Are there any eastereggs hidden in this TC ? A: Yup
  10. *waves farewell* Night folks and happy ID4 to those of you that were on holiday, today.
  11. Mask walks up behind Darth_Lord_Vader, tacoJoemeru and Spence, taps them on the shoulders and gives them a wedgie for thinking about going all mobster on him. Believe me guys, this hurts you more than me Now why did I come here ? .... ah yeah, there's a small file, that you might be interested in downloading. HOWEVER: to make it work on your PC, you gotta do as the installer tells you, as this is the only way that it's going to work. I know, that the Winrar package's self-extractor is in German and that most of you don't understand the language, but this is the only licensed version I have. It's not that hard, though. "Durchsuchen" means "Browse", so this is the button, that lets you choose a directory and "Installieren" means ... "install", as you might've already guessed. Unpack it exactly where the text above these buttons tells you, in other words into a subfolder of your Rebellion directory. Once it's done, start the setup.exe and hope that the 17 hours I went without eating today, to get this done after getting home from work, didn't interfere with me correctly assembling the package. The installer itself has a readme, that gets automatically displayed and tells you, what you need to do. Again, do as it says, or I can promise it won't work. There's an optional music pack, that I'll post tomorrow, or maybe LaForge will come in here before me and do that. We didn't include it in this release, since it's above 100MB. So, for now: happy gaming with what became our life-blood for the past 4 years. Btw, the installation can take a while. Be patient and don't click around, while it runs. Otherwise you might not immediately see the window, that tells you everything is done at the end and have to keep pressing ALT-TAB, until you do. It's 01AM for me and I better drop into my bed, since I need to get up in 4 hours for work again EDIT: ok, I dragged myself out of bed for one last comment. To load the .reb file for the cards, you gotta copy it to your RebEd folder, like with every other TC. Oh and you need your original Rebellion CD for this, as we can't and won't support anything else.
  12. Thanks guys and I thought so too I have always been here, just as you have always been here... *g* http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7580/kosh1fz5.th.jpg I'm just busy with other stuff, most of the times
  13. That's plain nuts and I totally agree with Jahled. Shaking hands and giving a hug for example are part of the most basic social interactions and there's a reason why this has been part of human behaviour for millenia. This reminds me of something I heard in school once (yeah yeah, all those decades ago...). There was an experiment once, where new-born children were completely been taken care of by several nurses. However, they weren't allowed the most basic affectionate things, like cradling them, making funny faces, sing a good-night song, ... nothing that'd display affection. You know what ? Most of the babies died because of the lack of affection (those that didn't had been secretly hugged, etc. from time to time). I rest my case.
  14. Heya, this is a little something I made earlier this week. Thumper sent me this picture and ... well ... I couldn't help it
