  1. Can anyone detail the exact mechanics of naval combat? If a ship is hit, do its shields/hull take the full damage of the fire arc it was hit with or is it more complex/variable than that? Also, what determines system damage and does the rate of system decay vary from ship to ship?
  2. Any progress you can share? I'm glad you've switched over to C# - it's much more geared toward this type of thing than DarkBasic is (imo).
  3. Sweet, sweet. I'm working on some other projects too but I'll start thinking up ideas. I'm actually not all that familiar with DBPro outside of the basic 2d realm. The largest thing I've programmed is a text-based RPG that I'm still working on but it's gotten me fairly familiar with the workings of the language. I'll definitely catch myself up on some of the more complex topics though. Do you use any IM programs? I've found with projects like these it's often easier to communicate via those than posting back and forth. But if you don't, the latter will suffice lol
  4. I'm not so much concerned about the fire distance or rate but it seems wasteful to have the ISD open fire when it can't hit the ship. I don't think realistically that would happen (unless the crew/captain is incompetent). But yeah, the camera works fine in the 2d. I'd just like to be able to move so I could keep pace with the ship but it's alright for now. Also, I PMed you a while ago about this but if you're looking for help, I'd be more than willing to assist. I'm pretty handy with graphics and I do know DBPro, but probably not as well as you lol.
  5. Second one works fine on my laptop. Two things though. How do you track the camera? I see how to pan it and zoom out but I can't seem to track from side to side. Also, is the ISD supposed to fire when it's out of range because it opens up pretty much as soon as the demo starts.
  6. Ok, so I switched over to my full-HD monitor and it runs fine. My laptop monitor only supported up to 1366x768 but I was running 32-bit color on both.
  7. I don't know if it's because of my comp, but I'm getting the following error: I am running 64-bit Vista so that might be it...
  8. Ah, I was anticipating it was coming to a different e-mail. I see it now Thanks for the reply.
  9. That worked. Thanks for the help. Btw, I sent you a PM about possibly helping out on the project (if you are looking for any). Get back to me when you can.
  10. Very interesting developments here. Looks like you've put a lot of work into it. It's crashing for me once I click on the faction button. Any ideas why? I'd like to be able to see what you've done thus far.
  11. Hi, Ok, so I've followed your steps and there were only two issues. First, it said it needed the "smackw32.dll" file, which I downloaded and placed in the folder with no problem. Then, I double-clicked the new .exe and it loads to a black screen and stays there. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advanced.
