  1. I actually enjoy playing on Huge galaxy right up until the point where I've secured the Core sectors. After that it's a bore-fest
  2. hmm, rereading my post it appears i was being pretty distracted allow me to briefly clarify I liked the Force's portrayal in Destiny's Way. I feel it transcended a lot of the traditional concepts of what the Force means to us
  3. Darth_Gonzo here, new name, same jerk I caught Nostalgitis for Jedi Academy after a while and bought the game again. Quickly I realized why I got rid of it 3 times Awful, just awful graphically. And not just because it's an old engine. The lighting is good but only for the lightsabers. Otherwise they're sub par and add nothing to the environments or atmosphere. The game chugs, and has always chugged (this is on XBOX and now on XBOX360) on any situation where you're running. Worst of all I think was the level requiring you to zip around on a Swoop. You move smoothly for a second followed by a moment of freeze and so on The mechanics are poor too. I can't count how many times I've fallen down a chasm to my death because while trying to jump to a nearby ledge I started walking along the wall like an idiot. There are just some things that shouldn't be in a Star Wars game IMO
  4. am I the only one that's completely over the Rebellion/Republic flight sims? Gone are the days of Empire-cheering TIE Fighter. When are we going to see a game embodying that?
  5. It's almost 800 day. It's Expert difficulty. It's Huge Galaxy setting. I'm Empire. I have every single planet in 5 of the 6 core sectors. In the remaining core sector, I own 4 planets and working on a 5th that I just Incite Uprising'd them off of. The Rebellion owns the other 5 planets but they're doing nothing on them. They're starved for resources and I'm making it worse by going to each of them with personnel and sabotaging their refineries and mines (what few they have left) meanwhile I'm Inciting Uprisings on one of the other planets basically kicking them out of the core for good. I have every single one of their personnel captive or dead (to include Mon Mothma and Luke Skywalker) which means the only thing keeping me from victory is destroying their base. I've searched the lower half of the rim sectors and found 5 of their planets but a general bombardment and an Espionage mission later tells me I've still got some searching to do. Empire is my favorite faction to play but the games that drag on looking for the base when I have had Luke and Mon Mothma captured since 250 day make it a bit of a grind. In my frustration I've assembled a Death Star with full complement and fleets for the core sectors each comprising of 2x Imp 2 Star Destroyers, 1x Victory 2's, and 4 Lancers also with full complements of TIE Defenders and troops Any pointers to speed this process up? I'm about to just take the Death Star and destroy the 5 rim planets they have
  6. briefly on the NJO, I think the only book in the series that got it right was Destiny's Way. I feel the direction they took with the Force with Jacen Solo was amazing, innovative and truly a very original concept for the Star Wars series as a whole. I was really excited to read the rest of the NJO series after Destiny's Way but upon seeing the Star Wars universe returning to traditional themes of the Good Republic and its heroes and the Evil Empire/Yuuzhan Vong I became so jaded I couldn't finish reading the rest of the series and consequently have not read any Star Wars fiction since I don't know. I always liked the Empire. I felt they got some things wrong but it seems to me (perhaps I'm biased) that the entire Star Wars mythos just took the concept of a perpetually evil Empire and ran with it not allowing it to change or evolve. Resurgences with Thrawn, Daala, Clone Emperor Palpatine just felt like more of the same: They're the enemy. We're the good ones. The NJO had such a great opportunity to change that fact. To make the Empire a different culture instead of a few thousand parsecs full of idiots, war mongers and pugilists I don't know. I love Star Wars. It holds such a deep place in my heart, truly. But at the same time the EU makes it just feels worn out and leaves me coming back to the canon of the movies (another post for another time, sigh)
  7. by far Emperor Palpatine for his faults (chiefly, arrogance and xenophobia) he masterminded the corruption, downfall, and restructuring of a galaxy wide governing body into one of his own vision. Cunning and intelligent he exudes a power and authority that is enviable EDIT
